seriously. why the hell does everyone have a problem with emo kids? like..i dress emo but that doesn't necessarily mean that i go around cutting myself. and even if i did, why do people notice emo people more than everyone else? and why do people say stuff about them? its stupid. half the kids are obviously depressed and i don't think people should make fun of them. then the other half just dresses this way because they really like music.
grr. it just really pisses me off.

i know whatcha meaaan. it's just total stereotyping. if you're different, people are gonna look at you differently. at my school pretty much 85% of the kids are preppy, so if you're different, guarentee that someone's gonna point it out. i personally think it's retarded, why do people really care how people dress. what kind of music they listen to. etc. do what you want, and stop pointing out other people just because they're different frmo you. people assume things. like if you wear baggy clothes, you're ghetto and carry around a gun. if you wear all black, you're atheist and hate god. etcetc. yea, i'm just ramblingg on but it's true. and i guarentee that it's not gonna stop anytime soon. lame, i know. it pisses me off too. haha, sorry i didn't really know how to answer this or whatever, but yea, i totally agree with you. :]

i agree with you! most people think using Ae,abercrombie hollister and stuff like that are enought to keep people from making fun of them ¬¬ just cause they are the mayority but they're even worst that beeing emo cause emo have more style, not like those kids that use the same stuff that their friends or socity target as "normal " and cool ¬¬

Most people point out 'emo' kids because there diffrent from the rest.I know not all kids that love music and wear black cut, but some do and that's what there feeding off of.People label all the time and it's ganna be a factor of life, but that doesn't mean you have to join.I think the main reason they dislike 'emo' kids are because they stand out of a crowd- which is what they want, they want someone to notice that there their and for someone to help.Other kids fallow the crowd and if one kid hates 'emoness' then the rest do.But you don't need to dress diffrently just speak your mind and stick up for what you believe it's ganna give you alot more credit then 'cutting' which the only reason they cut is for all the problems in there life or for attention.They cut to know that there incontrol they know they call the next shots.But the kids that do it on there arms and wear short sleeved shirts are doing it for attention.But the others that cover there scars dont want people to know cause they'd blow it all outa paportion.

I don't know if you've noticed, but every "clique" goes around bashing other "cliques". It's the way highschool is. You probably just noticed the "emo" remarks lately because you feel a connection to that group because of the music you listen to or the way you dress.
Almost every highschool student is going to have a problem with somebody, whether it's the preps, the "druggies", the nerds, whoever. But that doesn't make it right, it just shows the immaturity and shallowness of teenagers. I agree, it's stupid to judge people based on the way they dress or the things they like. It's just like your parents told you, people just say those things to make themselves feel better about themselves, and to mask their insecurities. Here's to some maturity. ;)

Like my ex boyfriend is an emo guy and he knows it and so my new boyfriend like makes fun of him for it and its hard on me cu me and my ex are still like good friends but neways I hate that to I know where your comming from I mean like people are always judging if your emo or not I mean some people cry more then others and I am one. and some people think its good to express yourself by cutting and I don't cut my self and people think i do snice like im always wearing hoodies and stuff so when someone tells you your emo just tell them to go fuck themselfs..

The only reason I make fun of the emo sub-culture is because of the mentality "I'm an individual, just like everyone else."
I find that emo people tend to look down on mainstream people for being 'clones', yet they themselves always look the same. They all shop at the same stores, they all wear the same studded belts, etc.
Depression is no excuse. I have depression, and I never developed groupthink because of it. It seems (to me at least) that all these so-called depressed teenagers are doing it for attention, or to be like everyone else. Or, even worse, PRETENDING.
I think it's become more about looking a certain way and fitting in with others, than it is about individuality.
That's why, from the perspective of an outsider :)

Because the rest of us who live in reality- yes reality- find it stupid. You have to grow up sometime and try to look and act somewhat decent at least- you're not going to get anywhere in this world looking and acting emo. Think about it- do you honestly find yourself dressing that way by the time you're 30?
Do I honestly care? No.
Do I find it a bit silly if you're over the age of 16? Yes.

Well, in my day it was the Gothic look. And yes, society looked down upon me, because I was all about wearing black head to toe. Even dyed my hair black.
It wasn't because I was depressed, though. It was because I wanted to be different from those around me. Kind of a statement that yes, I'm a unique individual and damn proud of it.
However, as I said, society looks down their nose at people like myself. It is because we are not a part of the majority.
As they say, majority rules. If they didn't have emo kids to look down on then they have no one left but to look down on themselves. Sad but true. They can't think of any other way to make themselves feel like a bigger person than to single out those who are different.
