Can people please stop finishing every answer with "hope i helped" obviously you hope you helped, and whether you say that or not doesn't change whether you actually DID help. please, for everyones sake just answer the question!

try telling all those you know to not say "god bless you " when you sneeze. do they hope god will bless you, do they think saying it will make it happen, did it happen because they said it. who knows. but it is a polite thing to do just like saying that they hope they helped. i wouldnt advise you to try to tell people not to be polite mostly because it is not very polite.

hey, i get what you are saying. it can get kindof irritating when people just say that so they can get higher ratings, but people are gonna do what they want to do.

its to show respect.. well thats my outlook on it. its not like we're saying it all the time in out like(just an example) "i think you should tell the police, that would really help. they really should be notified, i hope that helps. believe me things will be better if you tell them. Hope i helped." all as we're trying to do is show that person that we're hoping that the negative of what they want wont happen. if you dont like it then either leave the site or dont read the damn answers. rate me a 1 dont rate me at all. i could really careless.

well, not everyone really hopes they helped, not to be rude to anyone else. We take our time to give the best advice we can (well, most of us) and it is a sign of politeness and respect. Sure, people don't have to take our advice and we could be completely wrong, so adding "hope i helped" makes it much more sincere. I'm sorry that you have a problem with it, but i respect the people that i give advice to and i'm not going to lower my respect for them, so your opinion is your opinion, but those of us who use it use it for a reason possibly beyond you and that is fine, but we choose what we do and by choosing to do that, we are showing sincerety. So I'm sorry that you feel the way you do, but this is the way that I feel.
