14/f. i'm going into 9th grade, which at my school is still in middle school. now i have two questions:
1)is it easier to buy 1 large 3" binder for all five of my academic classes, or two colored 1.5" binders (one for my three morning classes and one for my two afternoon classes). i just need a first hand experience here. will two binders get too confusing?
2) i want to decorate the front of my binder(s). i'm going to get the type of binders that have that clear pocket on the front of the binder that you can slide a piece of paper into. i want to cut out things from magazines but i don't know what to cut out things that i won't like half way through the year. i thought of cutting out store names and things but i need more!
banana answered Monday November 6 2006, 2:14 am: ok about your first question, if you have lockers at school (not PE lockers, but ones you use on a daily basis) then it is easier to have 2 binders...even if you dont have a locker that wont really matter because trying to fit one 3 inch binder is harder than putting 2 1.5 facing each other and shoving that in your backpack, plus ull have 2 binders to decorate instead of just one! : )
now about the decoratine part, trust me even if you put things in that you like now but wont like later, like you said you can just take out the piece of paper and make another one, you can always just put in things that you think are cute, they dont have to be in style, but they can just be things that look good combined and etc. (ex: cute purses, puppies, jewelry, pics of friends although they might change, pic of boyfriend and that can DRASTICALLY change as well, sports u play or like, cute designs and patterns, or designer merchandise...THAT never goes out of style lol) [ banana's advice column | Ask banana A Question ]
pinkers answered Wednesday August 30 2006, 9:08 am: I have tried both and honestly i like the two binders. But, i have other friends that hate having two binders that they have to keep track of. I bought just 2 2" binders that were both white, then wrote "morning" and "afternoon" on the side so i could see them both when they were standing up in my locker. Then i got like pink paper at walmart and cut and pasted tons of pictures of myf riends and stuff on it. I also went to microsoft word and got tons of cute clipart to put on there, plus stickers. You can also put little magazine clippings on your pictures too. Just make your binder your own!! I had fun with it and i love my binder. Well, hope i helped. twistedteen25 answered Wednesday August 30 2006, 3:33 am: In my opinion its better if you use folders and notebooks instead of binders. But I would go with the 2 binders. Why? One because you don't want to heave around a big ass binder from class to class. Two you stay more organized because it's simpler to understand which class goes with what paper. Never mix business with pleasure. Just have the name of the subjects to binder belongs to and your good to go. [ twistedteen25's advice column | Ask twistedteen25 A Question ]
hannahd answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 9:08 pm: 1. If a binder is required for a class or two, get a small one for those. But if some of your classes don't mind what you use, stick to a folder for each class. It's lighter & easier [in my opinion.] If not, I think 2 binders would be fine if you want it more organized.
2. Just put a collage of you & your friends. You can always redo another one later on if you get sick of it. No big deal. :) Be creative. [ hannahd's advice column | Ask hannahd A Question ]
LoveNJstyle answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 7:39 pm: I use a different one for each subject. i got the kind of binders that are flexible.. theyfit well in bookbags, that's for sure. i think you can get some with a clear pocket but i'm not sure. i just do different colors because pictures distract me a lot. i cut things out and put them on my walls instead, but that's just me.
i only have 4 classes a day for 90 minutes every other day so i'm not completely sure it it's the best option for you. if you have the standard 8 classes, you could try 2 subjects per binder but don't go over 2 inches.. they get annoying. i have a huge binder for exams... around halfway through the semester i clean out clutter and put it away for exams. to some people it sounds ridiculous but i find it helps A LOT. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
orphans answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 5:46 pm: just keep in mind that some teachers like to have a second binder for their class, like my social studies teacher is like a crazy organizaion thing (which is good,.) anyways so yeaa you might need to wait
1st off, 3 inch binders hold more papers in general than 2 1.5 combined (i think 3 inches hold like 350, and 1.5 only hold 120, so thats like 110 more, much better)
2nd, its more conventient, because then yuou can keep better organized with all your stuff in the same one.
also, most people just change their magazine slips every 1-3 months, so you wont have to worry about it, because it will take like a half an hour to an hour, and yso you can a new one later on [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
MelLeDisko answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 5:09 pm: Well, what I do is go and get a binder for each class and make a certain class a certain color so it's easy to find & grab in my locker. Cause I've seen people get one binder for all classes before and think it's easier, but it's just real heavy and it gets really messy during the school year. So if not get one for each class, then I'd suggest going for two binders.
For the cover, you can just clip from magazines models and brand names and take a bunch of letters and make a word out of it and just make sort of a fashion collage. Just take pretty lipstick colors and pretty eyeshadow colors and put them together. Also, sometimes the magazine comes with little desgins or pictures of stuff on the article page so maybe you can cut those out too!
Or do what some people do with those clear purses and put pictures of them and their friends and family and everything and try putting little stickers all over it and stuff! I just went to Eckerd the other day and I saw these little bubble stickers that have words in them, you know, so the people in the picture look like they're "talking".
DancinCutie08 answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 5:00 pm: 1) i would get the max amount of binders you can get because the less subjects that are in them the less confusing they are
3)i would get pictures you your friends and put them on there with funny quotes from magazines and stickers and what not. that is what my friend did and it looked cute [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
shescreams33 answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 4:43 pm: The two sounds like a really good idea.
But the decortating thing, you should get some magizines and go through && cut out pictures of stuff you like and make a collage'. Or you can put pictures of you && your friends.
katie_knows_all481 answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 4:38 pm: I would NOT use 1 binder for all of your classes. maybe, for your three morning classes, get a 2" binder, and a 1.5" one for your two afternoon ones. Cramming stuff together can be very confusing, and be sure to get dividers or something to separate classes!!
For the decorating....put pictures from magazines of stuff you like (lip gloss, clothes you think are cute) pictures from your collection, such as family, freinds, pets, etc. Also, you can put stuff related to your classes, so like for Math (whatever knid you have) you could draw pictures of math related stuff....
Well, good luck!!! Im in 8th grade (junior high where i am) im going into high school next year.
if you need any more help, drop me a note in my inbox!!!
ilikepie answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 4:31 pm: when i was in that year (but over here in the UK) i had about 20 books! youll manage with the two dont worry! Jodieee answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 4:30 pm: I would definitly NOT cram all 5 acedemic classes into one binder. It will get too cluttered and it will be hard to fit everything in.
I would buy a 2" binder for every acedemic class.
You MIGHT get away with putting 2 subjects in one binder, but even that might get a bit cluttered.
Grade 9 is different then 7 and 8. Well at least I thought it did. I dont know where you are from but we had to take Provincial Achievement Tests at the end of the year, so if i was you, i would try to make the clutter down by separating all the classes.
Also, divide your binders up. Make one section for notes, one section for work, and one section for quizzes and tests. It makes it way easier when you go to study, because teachers often use the same test questions twice so keep all of your tests with you.
orphans answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 4:29 pm: 1) the binder(s) you get may depend on your locker situation at school, and hwo big your school bag is. if you have enough time to get your 2nd binder out before you go to your first afternoon class (i would suggest doing that at lunch) then i would say that could be a better option, because it is easier, lighter, and takes up less room in your book bag. you just have to remember to bring it home when you need it. if you're afraid you may forget to bring home a 2nd binder, then you may just want the one 3" binder.
2) you can decorate your binder with things like, pictures of you, your friends, and your family. some quotes from your favorite movies, or television, or personal quotes. and some song lyrics and bands that you like. and maybe pictures of your favorite celebrities and things like that. that way it's really personalized. sorry, that's all i could think of.
honestXmiistake answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 4:27 pm: hmm well if you do get two binders you should get two different colors so that you don't get confused with the classes and everything. for decorating your binders, what i used to do was take a piece of like printer paper, and just go through magazines like you said and cut out all stuff i liked, stores, etc. it's also really cute if you take like different letters from the magazine in different fonts and stuff and spell out your name or something. go on the internet, find pictures of your favorite singers/bands, just stuff like that :] make it unique and cute and stuff lol :] make it YOU. babiigirl answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 4:27 pm: I think the two 1.5 inch binders will be easier. I tried carrying around the 3 inch binder my freshman year and i got really aggravating.
As for decorating your binders. You can Get pictures form magazines or you can cut out pictures of you and your friends and make a collage type thing. Or you can do something like this:
kckstartmyheart answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 4:25 pm: cut out anything you like as a hobby. like if you like ballet do that or soccer or basketball or art! doesnt matter. also you can cut out letters to make words like your name(never out of style lol) or find pictures of you and your friends to put in your binder. i hope i helped you out!!
