Sadie63341 answered Sunday July 16 2006, 11:46 pm: Instead of doing a "diet", do a "lifestyle change". Don't make HUGE drastic cuts, and don't starve yourself or deprive yourself of junk food completely. I allow one day a week where I can have SOME junk food. I don't overdo it, but it helps curb the cravings all week. I don't eat a box of twinkies or anything but a small bag of chips is OK. Try the baked Lays, they are wonderful.
I think your weight is fine, actually, but I figured I'd go ahead and give the same advice I'd give to someone who was actually overweight.
Drink plenty of water. Don't drink soda at all (unless it's on your one day a week, and don't drink too much). Don't count calories. It's a waste. Eat fruit instead of chocolate/candy. Bananas and peaches both taste wonderful. So do green apples with peanut butter (sparingly with the PB!).
Walk, walk, walk! I can't stress that enough. Walking and drinking water are the two most important things someone needs to do to lose weight.
Blue421 answered Thursday July 13 2006, 9:39 pm: Why do you need to diet? Your weight is perfectly fine for your age! Im 5'3" and I weigh 110 pounds.
But if you must diet, make sure you do it safely. Eat healthy foods and excercise daily. But please dont do anything dangerous. [ Blue421's advice column | Ask Blue421 A Question ]

That should definitely get you motivated.
Go to calorie-count.com, and sign up for an account. Track what you eat. When you sign up, you'll have customizable options that fit you. Let's say that I am 5'5, and I'm 128 pounds and want to be 126, [I'm not, just using this as an example]. My calorie-count.com log says that I should eat about 1200 calories a day to achieve my goal. On calorie-count, you can see what 'nutrional grade' the item of food gets, and the pros and cons of the food item. It's really helpful and gets you aware of eating healthy.
For example, I used to eat Lunchables every day when I didn't have enough time to fix something for lunch. Lunchables has close to 500 calories, and 7 grams of saturated fat, when you're only supposed to have 180 calories and 2 grams of saturated fat. See the difference? On the other hand, I eat Lean Cuisine instead of those crappy Lunchables. The food is much more delicious, and has a lot of protein in it.
Just take the initiative and work towards your goal. Don't get discouraged. It will work out only if you stick to your routine and get motivated.

I_am_Neo answered Thursday July 13 2006, 12:51 pm: Yea it's really hard at that age, trust me. You sound fine to me, don't worry about losing wieght. When I was 5'2, I wieghed a lot more then you did. And muscle wieghes more then fat so I wouldn't worry too much about it but keep trying and theres some new diet that you can try, don't know the name never bothered to really try a diet but it allows you to eat whatever you want or something. You cna also just do situps every night that works out good! [ I_am_Neo's advice column | Ask I_am_Neo A Question ]

coconutcatastrophe answered Thursday July 13 2006, 11:54 am: get some to help you. like someone that you're around alot and whenever you're with them they won't let you eat junk food and they'll help you exercise.
personally, i think your weight is normal. i just turned 14 and i weigh 125. and i recently went to the doctors and he said i still have like 20 lbs before im considered 'overweight.'
LoveToLaugh37 answered Thursday July 13 2006, 9:30 am: YOu could like,go on it with a friend, and like that owuld make each other stronger..like if you staart giving up your friend could be like NO! This girl I know is on a diet with her mom. You could do that too.
Some people go on diets cause they truly think they are fat and that motivates them to get skinnier...now you are 117 pounds? that seems like a normal weight for a 13 year old..I'm 13 and I weigh 120 pounds..It's really normal! So maybe you don't even need to diet..you can do something else like..running or doing situps or something..
If you truly think dieting is the way to go, then just try to motivate yourself somehow to keep with it..you can like get a friend to make sure that you are doing it or something
Jess1o9 answered Thursday July 13 2006, 9:26 am: if you have a friend that wants to diet to then you both can support each other.. keep a diet diary and write down what you ate and how much exercise you did.. call up your frined and see what he/ she wrote hope i helped ♥ [ Jess1o9's advice column | Ask Jess1o9 A Question ]
