ok so for lent i'm promising myself to walk the dog atleast 1 a week, do 15 situps a day, eating healthy (tho i can never do it) and practice soccer and tennis whenever i can....what else can i do to get results....FAST?
please please help! i'll rate and comment....thanks.
EricStarr answered Thursday March 9 2006, 8:55 pm: First of all, it depends on what you mean by "fast". Don't try to loose more that 2 to 3 lbs per week or you'll be loosing lean muscle which will cause you to burn less calories at rest and eventually store more fat. Its a vicious cycle. The BEST way to loose weight is to keep your body burning it. Eat small meals every 3 hours to keep your body from going into starvation mode. Cycle exercise between cardio one day (walking, Jogging, dancing, etc) and Muscle conditioning the next (push ups, sit ups, squats, etc) or even weight training if you desire. Just don't look for the quick secret, it really doesn't exist. [ EricStarr's advice column | Ask EricStarr A Question ]

MikeCFT answered Wednesday March 1 2006, 4:06 pm: Honestly here- these shouldnt be things you promise to do, they should be routine. Why are you in such a hurry to get results fast? Do you honestly believe that the results that you get quickly are ones that you will keep? This question is asked like 86 different ways. Same answer- Committing yourself to a clean, consistent diet and exercise program is the only way to see and keep changes to your body. I challenge anyone to prove this theory wrong. lovexsweetxlove answered Tuesday February 28 2006, 10:27 pm: Ok, well what I do is
50 sit ups
50 leg ups
30 push ups
than drink a bottle of water (it flushes out your system and makes you loose weight)
than I work with my arms with dumbbells
that are like 5o pounds
if you do this everyday, I sometimes see results within a week.
Hope this helps. [ lovexsweetxlove's advice column | Ask lovexsweetxlove A Question ]
TheLoveDoctor answered Tuesday February 28 2006, 10:18 pm: do wayyyy more situps. im not in the greatest shape but i at least do 60 - 100 daily. otherwise you're plan sounds great and should really work. if you stick to it and aren't getting the results you want, go to the gym once a week at least with a good friend or someone close and get a personal trainer to help you stick to your plans [ TheLoveDoctor's advice column | Ask TheLoveDoctor A Question ]
Vanity answered Tuesday February 28 2006, 10:07 pm: You need to incorporate regular intense cardio into your daily routine to burn fat. (Biking, jogging, tae bo, etc).
You MUST watch what you eat because that is a major part of taking and keeping fat from your body. If you constantly take in more calories than you burn, your efforts are useless. Also, by eating healthier, you're going to feel more energetic.
Be sure to eat breakfast each morning as it will kick start your metabolism.

If you are practicing Lent for the sole purpose of getting in shape, then just do it on your own time and not dedicate it to lent. Lent is something serious, and from the way your talking you don't even know what half of lent is. So just do it for your own time, and don't even bring Lent into the picture, unless you are actually very serious about it.
