As far as my faith goes? I'm not quite sure. I was raised thinking Jesus is the true Messiah, not not worshiping him, per say. My father's side of the family has a lot of Jewish traditions woven in with Catholic ones.
I think Christians worship Jesus INSTEAD of God, and I don't think that's right.
I DO NOT want to be a Jew for Jesus. I'm sorry, I'm not praying in a highschool gym. Its not going to happen. I've prayed in both churches and synagogues, because I just say, "Hey, its the same God, right?"
But the way of worshiping Him is quite different. I have no idea who I am, where I fit, or where I should go to pray.

MissNiceness answered Thursday March 16 2006, 11:17 am: Just an FYI; the Jews are not a race persay. It is a faith culture where the determination of rather you are a member or not is if your mother was a Jew (according to traditional Judaism). However conversion to Judaism is possible. So Jews can be of any race, because people from all races have converted to Judaism. On the other hand, you have a lot of people with Jewish fathers who are not really Jews because they don't have Jewish mothers.
KaladaLeigh answered Saturday February 18 2006, 6:49 pm: Jesus is God because Jesus is God's only Begotten Son.
God sent Jesus to come down on earth to be born, to live, and to die for our sins. Then he rose again.
It doesn't matter between God and Jesus as long as you believe that Jesus died on teh cross for our sins, no one can repay Him, and the only way to get to Heaven is through Him.
Let's pray.
"God, I believe in You and I believe You sent your Son Jesus down to die for my sins. God, I know I am a sinner and I'm in need of a Saviour. Please, Jesus come into my heart and help me walk in this world with You. Amen."
ratpakgirl answered Saturday January 28 2006, 8:24 pm: Ok, as a christian, i'll give you my view from how I was raised. Maybe it'll help, maybe it won't...But I'll try.
Ok, I believe that Jesus is God's son, and that in order to get to God, you have to go through him. So he's a bit like an interpretur (sp?). Which means you can pray to him, and you'll still be praying to God - which brings me to something else. We also believe in the trinity - 3 in 1 - thing. you know, where God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit are all the same, but in diff. forms. So, back to the prayer. We also believe that God isn't that picky. You can pray wherever you'd like to, whenever you want. And no matter where you're at, he'll still hear your prayers. Actually, I think it's quite nice to pray outside the church (or wherever you go) with other believers. It lets me know that I'm not the only one that believes in Christ. Well, I hope I helped a bit...

It hasn't helped me at all, though. Please keep in mind that almost every single person has explained the Trinity. I get it now, and that wasn't my question.

I'm sure you have an idea who you are. Your human. We tend to question a lot dont we? If we didnt I'd be out of a job. As long as you believe that at one point in time Jesus decended from heaven as God's son (not the same) and died on the cross for our sins, then you'll be forgiven and go to heaven. Soungs pretty simple, egh? Well you kinda have to ask for the forgiveness on top of that, hard work egh? Not really. It doesnt matter about faith orientation, you have to have the belief and the spiritual connection. If its not coming from a true place and you only say you believe, well lets just say, HE KNOWS THE DIFFERENCE. [ advice-anyone's advice column | Ask advice-anyone A Question ]
FunnyCide answered Wednesday January 25 2006, 12:19 am: As a Christian, I think that God and Jesus are Father and Son, if you worship the Father, you are worshiping the Son, and if you worship the Son, you are worshiping the Fahter. But that's just how I see it.
You don't have to be a Jew for Jesus. I think that's totally the wrong approach. If you go at it like that, people are just annoyed at you and think you're some sort of religious freak, and thus ignore and mock you for the rest of your life. Actually... Matthew 6:5-8 says :
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have recieved their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. then you Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him."
I believe it's the same God. Christians, catholics, Jews alike worship the same God. You don't have to pray in either church. You can pray wherever, whenever, you good and well want.
I'm sure you're already familiar with the religions, but in case you wanted to read some more...
mylordwon answered Tuesday January 24 2006, 11:43 pm: I just answered a question about prayer that may be helpful to you. Take a look. As far as worshiping Jesus......When true Christians worship Jesus, they are worshiping God because Jesus is God who came to earth in the flesh. The Bible says:
John 14:9 .......Whoever has seen me (Jesus) has seen the Father......
John 10:30 I (Jesus) and the Father are one."
Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in OUR (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) image, after OUR likeness....."
The_MoUsY_spell_checker answered Tuesday January 24 2006, 11:37 pm: As far as I know, Christians worship "God", but in Christianity, God is a trinity of the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit, meaning that God is all three of the above at the same time, so they believe that Jesus is God, or at least part of God.
If you don't know where to go to pray, you can always pray on your own. The most important thing is that you actually believe in whichever god you pray to. You should read about both Christianity and Judaism. The understanding should help you decide. [ The_MoUsY_spell_checker's advice column | Ask The_MoUsY_spell_checker A Question ]
extton answered Tuesday January 24 2006, 10:35 pm: Christians worship jesus in addition to god.
Rather than trying to fit yourself into a category, think about these matters for yourself. Jew and christian aren't your only choices.
There are many religions, many philosophies, and plenty of people who don't buy into any of them.
Consider that there may very well not be a god. Or there may be many gods. Or a god completely different from the one you think you worship. Think! [ extton's advice column | Ask extton A Question ]
thewonderchef answered Tuesday January 24 2006, 10:07 pm: Well. christians believe in a tri-une god. This means that God is one being, but also three seperate entities. This is where the Father Son Holy Spirit thing comes from. As a Christian I worsip all of them, because by worshiping one you're really worshiping them all. Congratulations, you have asked one of the most difficult questions that can be asked of a christian, I hope that I have answered it to your satisfaction.
