they always say that your grades don't matter in 9th grade...is that true? i am very worried about an exam tomorrow...could it be the difference between harvard and virginia tech? lol
More importantly, though, you shouldn't stress out. A single exame in a single grade doesn't matter THAT much, and stressing out makes you do worse in school.
hugsNkisses answered Wednesday January 11 2006, 4:23 pm: dont worry THAT much, but 9th grade counts just as much as every other grade. its always nice to get great scores, but i dont think this one exam will have that much effect. just do the very best you can like all the other exams youve taken. good luck on your test!

MikeCFT answered Tuesday January 10 2006, 4:27 pm: Yes they do matter. All your grades matter. The people selecting you in the college admissions office went to high school too you know :-) [ MikeCFT's advice column | Ask MikeCFT A Question ]
HectorJr answered Monday January 9 2006, 10:41 pm: Freshman year of high school - a true blessing. Don't pass up the oppertunity to take advantage and do better without having to work as much for it [in comparison to the next years of high school]. It does matter a lot. Colleges do actually look at your three year average: freshman, sophmore, junior. If you had a 96 freshman year overall, and then a 92 and 90 the next two years, that freshman year will actually help you out and bring things up. Try not to worry too much and just study. I know - it gets boring and is always more difficult than actually taking the test. So to answer your question, yes every test you take will count towards college [in some way or another]. Hope that helped and best of luck. [ HectorJr's advice column | Ask HectorJr A Question ]
Hubble08 answered Monday January 9 2006, 10:13 pm: ♥ You do need to worry about it. Every grade counts towards your collage. So make sure you try your hardest. Now your exam, its okay to do somewhat okay on those but you don't have to ace it. [ Hubble08's advice column | Ask Hubble08 A Question ]
Igotamonopoly answered Monday January 9 2006, 9:35 pm: Ninth grade is your least important year of highschool, and if it's one class you'll be fine. In general, colleges take your average GPA out of all 3 (9, 10, and 11th) years to use on your application. If we're talking Harvard, it may very well be a limitng factor, but if you do exceptionally well and have lots of extracurriculars, then you'll be fine :). Go study! TheLoveDoctor answered Monday January 9 2006, 9:17 pm: most colleges focuse on your grades in highschool. it depends on your grade but if you do well the rest of your highschool career you should be just fine. but you should still try your best. as long as you have a good work ethic and you are serious about your grades, they should reflect that. esbeautiful1313 answered Monday January 9 2006, 9:16 pm: yes, all of your grades in high school matter...they all contribute to your GPA (grade point average). however, 1 exam is not going to make or break your chances of getting into the school of your choice! just work hard and you'll be fine! DancinCutie08 answered Monday January 9 2006, 9:16 pm: it doesnt matter. its on your transcript and colleges can see those grades. some colleges take them more serious than others. i would say its the difference between harvard and vt because to get into harvard you would prob have to have atleast straight As 3 of your 4 years of hs. anyways treat the test like it was but dont make yourself over nervous [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
