MikeDaBoobNinja answered Friday January 20 2006, 9:25 pm: Ok, well, Limewire ITSELF is legal. It's just a file sharing program. You're suposed to use it to upload files and have your friends download it, that's the whole purpose of a file-sharing client. BUT people started to use it for uploading songs and movies and all that good stuff. The act of downloading it is illigal, not having the program. And record companies only come after people who have 100+ songs downloaded, so just stay under sharing 100 songs and you'll be fine.

DeadMemories answered Tuesday January 3 2006, 8:13 pm: Hey,
Yeah, Thousands of people are getting like a $70,000 Dollar fine for that. One woman got fined that much and she wasnt even the one that burned the music. Someone in her household had and she didn't know it. Its your choice.
*Kate* answered Tuesday January 3 2006, 8:07 pm: Well....
It's sort of illegal in the sense that you are not paying for the music. But it's the same as getting a burned copy of a cd from a friend, as in no one gets in trouble for it. [ *Kate*'s advice column | Ask *Kate* A Question ]
betterthanyou_X3 answered Tuesday January 3 2006, 7:50 pm: It is illegal it's just that no one gets caught. Actually, my friend got fined for using Kazaa and that's basically the same so some people do get caught. The program itself might not be what's illegal; it's the downloading of songs and things like that. Downloading any kind of music from any program is illegal unless you payed for the song.
