Hey I'm 13 years old and I'm a really advanced reader for my age (just so you know). It doesn't mean I can read/understand adult books but whatever! I really want a list of GOOD books from like all genres!! If you could give me the title, author, and genre of the books you're suggesting that would be great!

Alpha345 answered Monday December 12 2005, 9:51 pm: I don't really remember many authors, but I will list the title of the book and the genre and the author if I remember them.
To Kill a Mockingbird
Band of Brothers - Stephen Ambrose (war)
Animal Farm - George Orwell (modern fable)
1984 - George Orwell (dystopian)
Any short story by H.P. Lovecraft (horror)
Any Harry Potter book
Pet Sematary - Stephen King (horror)
Salems Lot - Stephen King (horror)
The Shining - Stephen King (horror)
Brave New World - Audelos Huxley [sp] (dystopian)
Any Lord of the Rings book [including The Hobbit and The Silmarllion] - JRR Tolkien (adventure and fantasy)
Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury (dystopian)
Night - Elie Wiesel (war and holocaust)
The Art of War - Sun Tzu (basically a book to war, but has alot of practical uses)
The Red Battle Flyer - Manfred von Richthofen [the Red Baron] (war, and he describes the effects of it, both mentally and physically and it shows alot of insight into what soldiers thought of the war)
There are literally dozens more books I could list(mostly classical books, such as The Odyssey or The Illiad or The Aeneid) but I will leave it at this.
MissJessicaPaige answered Monday December 12 2005, 8:25 pm: The Golden Compass: It's a trilogy of really good books. The last one is about 4-500 pages.
The Fire Arrow: I don't know the book before that, and even if you don't read the first one you'll get it and it's a good book.
Tommorrow When the War Began: That's a series of about 6-8 books. They're more for our age and a little older. But I fell in love with them and they really helped my vocabulary ((not my spelling lol))
Snowfall: This is a romantic book. It's pretty easy to follow and it's really sweet!
*Kate* answered Monday December 12 2005, 8:09 pm: The ones with a * next to them means that I read it at school, so check with your teacher to see if you will read them in the future...I don't want to ruin anything for you!
TheHeadHonchoPoncho57 answered Monday December 12 2005, 7:49 pm: One of my favorite books of all time is "The Phantom of the Opera" by Gaston Leroux. The story is about Erik, a mysterious, dangerous and ruined genius (to be precise, a composer, engineer, magician, architect, ventriloquist and an expert with the Punjab Lasso) with a mutilated face who terrorizes the Paris Opera House, which he lives beneath while taking Christine Daee, the beautiful soprano whom he loves under his wing and attepts to seduce her. Of course, since he's so ugly, he doesn't stand a chance with Raoul, the "charming" and handsome young viscount, Christine's old childhood boyfriend. Actually, he's a sappy twerp, but he's portrayed as that. Immediately, the Phantom gets jealous, kidnaps her and makes her a prisoner of his home in the cellars of the Opera. It's a very dramatic novel, and you won't want to put it down. It's also very sad. You really feel for the Phantom because he has such a tragic story. The musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and the movie was based on this novel.
BrokenWings answered Monday December 12 2005, 7:09 pm: I think the whole series of Noughts and crosses books are great:
Noughts and crosses - Malorie Blackman
Knife edge - Malorie Blackman
Checkmate - Malorie Blackman
In that order. They are all brill. However if you ever come across the book Sugar Rush by Julie Birchill, even though it sounds good, dont read it, its a pile of shit. Very Very Very badly written and generally poo.
Other good books:
If you are female you might like 'Love and other four letter words' or 'The earth, my butt and other big round things' both by Carolyn Mackler however you will probably hate them if you are male.
t0xicParadiSe answered Monday December 12 2005, 5:05 pm: I suggest "Flowers For Algernon" by Daniel Keyes.
The genre of that book is Science Fiction.
And also "Go Ask Alice" (anonymous, no author).
Go Ask Alice is more like a diary. It's one of the best books I have ever read.
