Im really really scared about getting my perdiod i have no idea when its comming like no idea. Im scared one of my friends will find out or i will be the last one. My crush is in like all my classes. And the nurse had pads and tampons and stuff but Im scared when im gon aget it
I'm not sure how old you are, but chances are it won't come as fast as you think.
most girls get their periods around the time they are 9-15. It happens for the majority of people when they're 12 or 13.
When the time comes, there will be subtle warning signs.
drastic mood changes
cramps in your lower back or belly
tiredness
headaches
whitish dischage
It seems that when a girl expects her frist period, she expects full on bloody mess the first day she gets it. but that most likely won't happen . first periods are really light, and more brown goo than blood. chances are when you do get it no one will find out.
If you want you friends to know that's up to you. Your girl friends will know what you're experiencing, or want to know. so they'll be a good support for you. Don't worry about getting it last. It's a hassle, and the later you get it, the less you'll have to deal with it.
In middle school my friends and I developed a code name for periods "purple polka dotted person" it was werid, but no one could figure it out!
when i was younger(12) it was a big deal if my guy friends found out about my period. but eventually they did... and they were respectful about it. It's a part of life. people understand.
one of my guy friends even asked me questions about it one day... guys are curious too.
when the time for your period comes, you'll be ready! don't think about it too much
tasuki answered Thursday November 24 2005, 11:58 pm: Oh sweetie, don't worry. Once it happens you'll realize that it's not a big deal at all! Remember, women have been going through this for centuries. Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, and the Virgin Mary all went through it. You can too! [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]

hyperhottiegirl answered Tuesday November 22 2005, 6:29 pm: it depends. Do you have boobs and pubic hair? how old are you if your between 9-16 most likely. Also you will know when your getting your period because before that like a week before you will either see goopy white is gray stuff or drops of blood and this is when you know when to wear pads. The first time you get it it dosn't come fast so there is nothing to worry about [ hyperhottiegirl's advice column | Ask hyperhottiegirl A Question ]
x0blu3eyedbeautyx0 answered Tuesday November 22 2005, 5:35 pm: You shouldn't be scared at all..it's really not that bad! There's no way in telling when it will come, but if you feel as if you're ready then carry a pad around with you in your purse or backpack. (or tampon but i recommend pad for the first time) My experiencer and my friends' was thhat we ddint leak through our pants or anything..the first time was really light, but if you're really worried put a pair of jeans you don't like that much in your locker in case. You shouldn't be worried about if your friens find out, because that's what your friends are for. You can talk about it with them and..if they have it ask for advice and stuff. Hello, "girl talk" lol! If you take these precautions, your crush will never find out. Good luck! ♥ caitie [ x0blu3eyedbeautyx0's advice column | Ask x0blu3eyedbeautyx0 A Question ]
ShYbl0nD3 answered Tuesday November 22 2005, 4:32 pm: i think every girl is worried abour first getting it. i know i was. but usually you'll know when you have it. you'll probably start having mood swings or your stomach will start to hurt a little. if you have it during school just go to the nurse and they'll help you out. if you have it at home. just talk to your mom and she will help you with the whole thing. mystical_breeze answered Tuesday November 22 2005, 4:10 pm: Don't be scared, there are some signs though to starting your period. Sometimes you start getting grumpy and having mood swings, or your stomach can start to hurt a little (cramps). If you do start though, you'll most likely to be able to feel the dripping in your underwear. Right when you have that "feeling", ask to use the bathroom and put on a pad just in case. I started my period when I was nine, so I kind of know what to do when this stuff happens 'cause it's happened to me a lot when I start my period without knowing it.
Your crush probably won't even notice if you're having your period, because it'll probably only drip at first. It doesn't just all pour out all over at once usually. Just bring a purse with you during classes and fill it with pads and/or tampons so you'll be ready.

Teza answered Tuesday November 22 2005, 3:25 pm: You never know exactly when you will get your period. Don't be scared about it. It's a normal thing and every girl goes through it. I'm sure most of us hate it, but it's nothing to be scared about. When you might get it you will get discharge. It's white stuff you get on your underwear. It might last for a day or two or sometimes for a few weeks until you get it. Also, when your urine turns dark yellow, it's also a sign of the period. Just make sure you wear those really light pads when you get discharge incase anything happens. Carry a pad or tampon in your purse or your locker. If your friends find it, it's nothing bad. It's just that you are going through puberty and I'm sure they are too. [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]

ii__LUFF__Y0Ux answered Tuesday November 22 2005, 2:44 pm: Dont be scared.. usually people become very grumpy before they get their period so if your feeling really upset and mad about small things then use a pad for a few days even if you dont get it its better to be prepared!
craazylau answered Tuesday November 22 2005, 2:09 pm: When you first get it it will be so light that it won't show up or soak through your clothes or any of the other things girls are always worried about! It might me a good idea to keep a pad in your bag just in case so that when you notice when you go to the toilet you'll be prepared. Don't be scared your friends will find out they're all probably worried about exactly the same stuff! You'll look back on this and laugh once you've got it! Good luck [ craazylau's advice column | Ask craazylau A Question ]

mooch789 answered Tuesday November 22 2005, 12:23 pm: Just be aware of your body and always have a few pads handy! If you start to get a cramp, go check in the bathroom if there's blood. DO NOT ignore this. [ mooch789's advice column | Ask mooch789 A Question ]
xOHunni-2-HelpOx answered Tuesday November 22 2005, 11:57 am: Heyy hunni dont be scared!
if your in school in class and you start its unlikely to be heavy just very light. sort out a few pads or pantyliners and put them in a small make up bag and pop it in your school bag so your fully prepared. or go to the nurse they always have pads and stuff and they can advise you aswell. when you do start you may notice... a bit of wetness in your underwear.
signs that your period is on its way may be...
1. you get discharge a couple of days before starting
2. cramps in your lower tummy
3. back ache
if you do start in class and need to tell the teacher its unlikely that any one will see anything as it'll most probably only be very light. dont be afraid to tell your mates! remember they'll go through it to!
sizzlinmandolin answered Tuesday November 22 2005, 9:34 am: You don't bleed that much when you get your period. No one will notice at all! You'll notice it when you go to the bathroom so right after that you just go to the nurse. Don't worry at all, seriously, no one will know. Good luck :) [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]
