People who take orchestra like playing an instrument better than singing or any other music choice. Even popular people are in my orchestra class.If you are good at it and like it, it should be okay! As long as it's not your life.. aka you have other interests like sports or drama or something.. you're not a nerd!

I don't think it makes you a nerd or a geek or anything. Don't compare yourself to "Normal" people...normal people are boring and I'm sure you are very talented and even smarter then most girls your age because you are in orchestra. Being smart does not make you a geek and being talented does not make you a nerd! And do not let anyone else tell you anything different.

the only reason people call them band nerds... is becuz people in band dont have alot of free time... so they dont have alot of time to do anything with friends so they get seen as nerds.

not at all. im a junior in high school and i'm still in orchestra. and i'm white. lol. but i'm also a varsity cheerleader. orchestra is something that im guessing you like to do and while it does seem pretty dumb and nerdy in middle school, once you get into high school it gets alot better. my orchestra does trips every year. i also lettered in orchestra (got a letter for the lettermans jacket) and when people see that its for orchestra they think it's pretty cool. plus it's proven that people who play in instrument are smarter and have, on average, higher SAT scores. so no, definetly not nerdy. :)

Nope, in fact, I was in orchestra, and it's hard to be in strings, and you should be happy your in it. It just sucks when strings gets overshadowed by band...but thats a different story. Your not a loser

ok so typically i would say yeah thats kind of dorky but really, its not! like im in theater... a lot of people think thats dorky ans geeky but then they come see the show and they love them. it really depends on your personality. be proud to be a dork/orchestra geek/musician! (its awesome!) <3

My boyfriend is in the band... one of my closes friends is a band... band is cool. Way cool. Admittedly they're not in school band (they're in a church bands... but still). I think they're cool. I know alot of really wicked aweosme kids who are in band, it's not a "nerd" thing.

NO!! being in orchestra doesnt make you a nerd. One of my freinds was in orchestra last year and he was very popular. Besides, once you get to high school, nobody is superficial like they are when they are in middle school, so don't worry about!

I am a 14 year old freshman and I want be in my school's band. There's nothing wrong with that. I don't consider you to be a nerd. MUSICIANS GET PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO PLAY AN INSTRUMENT SO IF THAT MAKES THEM NERDS THEN SO BE IT. I would *love* to be one. I'M OFF THE SUBJECT!! No, it doesn't make you a nerd. If anyone calls you a nerd because you are in the orchestra, they are just mad because they cannot play an instrument. Its hard!!

It doesn't matter when you're in middle school. It really doesn't. And if you still want to be in it in high school then go for it. No one is going to be like, "hahah what a fruit; she's in orchestra!!!", or anything like that.
