well when your in water in doesnt bleed but i wouldnt take any chances in ruining your suit after you get out so tell you gym teacher or tell your mom to write a note saying you will make it up when youre finished...if none of those work just try telling your gym teacher hey im on my period so i cant swim so your gonna have to deal with that! - something like that lol

Rly hope I helped! =)

Ok well like a lot of people said, it slows down in water. My friend and I just hooked up again (we hadn't talked in like a year) and she wanted me to come over swimming, and OF COURSE I had my period right then. So the first day I was like "umm i can't find my bathing suite" but than it lightened up and I went swimming and it like completely stoped! I personally wouldn't to go swimming during GYM class without anything (or with a tampon, I am like scared of them) I would talk to my GYM teacher, or be like "I forgot my bathing suite" works everytime ;)

well if its pretty light, it will stop in water. just keep a towel handy for when you jump out quickly. i would seriously try hard to get a tampon in tho. get one from the machine thinger in the locker room and if you really dont know what to do, have a friend you trust explain it to you. good luck! <3

Youll be put in an embarassing situation if you choose to go swimming without anything. I mean gym class is a good 50 mins at least. Youre probablay gonna be in the water most of the time, but getting there and back will be a little scary. Youre basically not gonna enjoy the class as much as you could.
If i were you, id try hard to wear a tampon. They really are nice. What do you do all summer?
Your life shouldnt stop for a week just becuz of that monthly problem.
If you absolutely tried, i would seriously talk to the teacher. Maybe you can make your time up on another day/days.

hey! I don't know what these people mean that have been saying " your period stops in water". UH no it does not. One time I was at the beach and I just ended my period when I got there...so I thought. Well apparently I had like a day left but I went without a tampon or anything. Yes its true it "slows down" in water but it doesn't completely stop. Sure you'd be fine for just a little bit, but I would not risk that. Have your mom write a note to your gym teacher or you can talk to them yourself. Your teacher should understand, especially if they have a note signed by a parent.
If they say you still have to swim, I know it might be tough but take it up with a higher authority, like the principal. They will straighten it out if your gym teacher doesn't and you wouldn't only be helping yourself you would be helping other girls in your school!
Write one to my inbox if you need anymore help!

Good luck!

K2204 answered Tuesday October 4 2005, 4:21 pm:
tell your teacher that you dont cannot wear tampons, and that you are NOT going to get into a pool on your period, becasue that would be nasty, becasue you would get blood all over your, your swim suit, and in the water. if that does work, talk to your principal, or have your mother or father write a note or go and talk to your teacher/principal, and explain the situation.

that is rediculous, those teachers!

EvilCheshire answered Tuesday October 4 2005, 3:38 pm:
Swimming in the water does slow it down, but seeing how it's probably more comfortable to be with a tampon and you can't use one I'd just put your foot down with your teacher and tell her you're not doing it and you'll make it up somehow.

Teza answered Tuesday October 4 2005, 3:35 pm:
That isn't a very good idea. You might bleed and the tampon might rip. You should ask your mom to write a note or call that teacher because you can't swim on your period and you can't use tampons. If the teacher won't let you, tell the principal. The teacher defenetlly should let you though, and if not then they are being really mean and not doing their job.

tasuki answered Tuesday October 4 2005, 3:34 pm:
Yes, you can just swim without anything in and you'll be fine. But once you get out, quickly wrap a towel around you because you don't want any blood to be dripping down your legs.

Also, this is just some friendly advice, you may not want to limit your question for just girls. Some guys might have sisters or girlfriends that had this situation and could actually offer some good advice. Or maybe not. I wouldn't be surprised if guys answered it anyway; I answer "boys only" questions.
