"Friends with benefits" is like a male friend having a girl friend as both a friend and a sex partner. Also, it can mean the same for a girl...she can have a guy as a friend and a sex partner.

It's when two people are just friends, but still do sexual things together. Such as makeout, oral sex, or actual sex. It's sex without the relationship. If it works right, you guys can have casual sex without any emotional involved. Meaning, you can hook up with you Friend with Benefits one night, and then go hook up with some one else a few days after, and they don't get jealous or mad like people in a relationship would. But it's usually never that easy. Some one usually always gets emotionally involved. Sure, it starts out as "I'm horny and single, so are you, let's just have sex together. Problem solved"...But it gets more complicated later down the road...

A friend with benefits is a friend who you can get something out from. Like, if you are friends with a rich kid, he may get you more expensive presents for your birthday. Or with a popular kid, you become more popular by being her friend.
