Today the discharge in my underwear had a yellowish brown tint to it. Some parts of it looked kinda red. This is the first time this has happened. Is this my period coming or should I worry. I don't want to go to the doctor *unless its really serious* because my family is really short of money right now. I'll rate 5's for any helpfull answer.

MELiixMARiiE answered Friday July 22 2005, 1:53 pm: It seems to me like it's probably just your period coming. But I would wait a while maybe a week or so, and if your period hasn't come, then I would suggest talking to your mother about this. Cause, mothers know best =) and she'll be able to determine wether if this is a serious problem or not and if you need to go to the doctor. I hope I helped!!
pinkfairy1773 answered Thursday July 21 2005, 6:43 pm: Well i had something like that and for me, it was period. but it can be different for you, so just watch it for couple of days but if you dont start period in a week then you should talk to your mom about it and yes i know its hard to tell because my family is like that too and we can't go to hospital for little thing... so if you think its one of those infections here is what you can do.
(it might not get better but you can prevent it next time and it probably will get better)
wash down 'there' everyday and when you "wipe" go from front to back never ever "wipe" it back to front because the bacterias in your rear area can infect your frontal area.

historygrl4no1 answered Thursday July 21 2005, 1:23 am: I think it's your period, cause mine looked like that, but I would consult your mom to make sure, and you don't have to rate my site a 5, I don't care as long as you are okay.

ncblondie answered Wednesday July 20 2005, 8:29 pm: If you're not due for your period, I would go to the doctor since it could be a sign of a vaginal infection. Other signs of vaginal infection are strong foul odor and clumpy discharge. These are sometimes accompanied by vaginal itching. Left untreated, this can lead to infertility as well as other problems. l3al3yd0LL answered Wednesday July 20 2005, 7:57 pm: Okay, it sounds like you haven't started your period yet, and may I remind you that everyone starts at different times so it's perfectly normal! A friend of mine before she started her period she used to have a brown discharge so I think it's normal. I mean it didn't happen for me that way, but it does for some people. Even when you do start your period, sometimes it will be brown because it's old blood, so it's nothing for you to worry about! If you have any other questions feel free to ask!!
