I was just putting a tampon in for the first time. I was supposed to go swimming today but I just got it. It's light for now. I followed the directions on the box but it hurt sooooo bad!! I did it a second time and it was the same. It even hurt to pull it out. The directions said if it feels uncomfortable it's not in far enough. It was in far as it could go though. I relaxed when I did it but it still hurt really really bad. It hurts awhile after I take it out. I want to go swimming but I don't think I can. I used the Lites/Junior if you're wondering. Is there something wrong with me?? =(
PrincessAva answered Monday June 13 2005, 10:58 pm: No, there is nothing wrong with you. The tampon you might want to use is tampax pearl. Very comfortable. Also, insert the tampon while sitting down and your legs spread open. Insert it at an upward angle. This should work
Hope i helped and good luck

RocksBabyGirl993 answered Monday June 13 2005, 10:46 pm: you are just the same as many of us females. I got my period when I was 9 and I had to put a tampon in then! It always hurts at the beginning, But I promise It gets a lot better later. It is actually good for it to hurt at the beginning, it means it is in far enough.oh, and, actually, the hardest and most painful part is when you pull it out. Short story, I was at a pool party when I got it. I carried a tampon with me in my purse. I put it in and it didn't hurt. well, I jumped in and it fell out. That is why it is Good for it to hurt. oh, it will always be a little uncomfortable. Hope I helped =) [ RocksBabyGirl993's advice column | Ask RocksBabyGirl993 A Question ]
CrzyLatinaChc answered Sunday June 12 2005, 9:12 pm: I know how you feel i just started using tampons about a week ago and I think if you havent done this already you need to talk to your mom. (Tips) youre not supposed to put your tampon in straigh have it slanted at an angle thats going towards your back. I hope this helps.
K2204 answered Sunday June 12 2005, 9:00 pm: nope, nothings wrong, and it probably wasnt in correctly, and it probably wasnt in all of the way. next time, have your mom or grandma or a cuz or an aunt or older sister, to go with you next time, and help you!
Kissyfurr answered Sunday June 12 2005, 8:50 pm: ok, I dont go swimming when I'm on my period, and i dont wear tampons I wait until I'm off my period to go swimming, because I know swimming is fun but if tampons are gonna hurt you then it's not worth it. If you ask me it's like giving your virginity away to a tampon, even though your not.I hope my advice helped you!!! if you have any other problem's feel free to ask me, kissyfurr.
artistegirly answered Sunday June 12 2005, 8:38 pm: Oh, the same thing happened to me and I couldn't get over it so I just have abstain from swimming on those days. =( Whatver you do don't wear a pad in the water, the little moisture absorbing beads inside will all fill up wither yu'll look like your wearing a soggy diaper or the pad will burst and float to top. (not a good thing!!)
vintagerose answered Sunday June 12 2005, 8:30 pm: yep. the first time. all i have to say, use pearl! it is the best ever and saved my swimming days. personally i think all thoes stupid "tenn" and "beginner" ones hurt.
kittygurl90 answered Sunday June 12 2005, 6:56 pm: No, nothing is wrong with you, it should hurt the first few times you put one in. it takes a lil while to get used to. make sure you are putting it in the right position. be relaxed too.
vermillion26 answered Sunday June 12 2005, 5:49 pm: no, theres nothing wrong with you. it may be that you dont have it in the right position. if your body is in the wrong postion it wont go in properly and it will hurt a lot. i find its best to just straddle the tiolet or stand with my feet apart and put it in. i know it says that you can put your foot up on the sink or something, but that makes it harder for me at least. id start with just the legs open. its always hard the first few times. dont let that dis courage you, tampons are eaiser and let you do whatever you want, pads are more restrictive. especially if you are a swimmer. keep trying and remember to relax as your putting it in and taking it out. you'll get the hang of it. you wont even be able to feel it after a while.
secretcrushx3 answered Sunday June 12 2005, 4:03 pm: there isnt anything wrong with you, it always hurts for the first few times, but if you really wanna go swimming and you cant use a tampon just do wat i did.. get a clean pad and stick it to ur bathingsuit cause your period stops when its in water and then when you get out of the ater just go and change ur pad again and youll be fine [ secretcrushx3's advice column | Ask secretcrushx3 A Question ]
Karen answered Sunday June 12 2005, 3:35 pm: No, there is nothing wrong with you. It takes a while to get used to wearing tampons. You can always try using another brand of tampons if you still experience pain. [ Karen's advice column | Ask Karen A Question ]
SheDidntLuvUAnyways answered Sunday June 12 2005, 3:33 pm: Its gonna hurt your first time putting in a tampon, hun.
To make sure you have it in all way remember that your fingers your holding the aplicator of the tampon with should hit your vagina before you push to put the actual tampon in.
But no doubt, first time youre using a tampon its gonna hurt.
Michele answered Sunday June 12 2005, 3:22 pm: No, not at all. Try putting a little vaseline, petroleum jelly, on the tip before inserting it. It may be conscious of it, and "feel it", but you should be able to stand and sit with out a problem. IF not, then it is not in correctly.
