I want wavy hair

Question Posted Friday March 4 2005, 4:25 pm

I want to make my hair wavy. I already have natural waves, but they aren't that strong, and anyway they're frizzy. My friend uses mousse and scrunches up her hair, and she also uses tongs. I told my mum I wanted to make my hair wavy, but she keeps saying that the only way you can have waves in your hair is to get a perm. It's not, is it?? Because my mate says she's never had a perm. But whatever I say, my mum keeps saying that you can't have wavy hair unless you get a perm, my mum ALWAYS thinks she's right, I can't get through to her. Anyway, how do you make your hair wavy? Please tell me any products/tongs etc that are good, and if there are any sites that tell you how to get wavy hair then I'd appreciate it. I used to curl my hair with tongs, because I did Irish dance competitions. But the curls just fell out like 30 minutes later, so if you know how to actually keep the waves in place, that would be helpful too (I tried tresemme gel spray but that didn't work). Thanks! xo

I just take my regular shower, and dry my hair with a towel. And then let it air dry the rest of the day. Don't brush it all day. If you're riding in a car you can let the wind blow it around. Don't use a blow dryer, curling iron, or straighter. If the heat is to high on any of those it will damage your hair. A blow dryer will make your hair staticy. This is my method for wavy hair.

Well, I have straight hair. I do want it wavey sometimes. What you do is you take your normal shower. Then, when you're out, get your hair on the wetter side of damp. So make sure it's not soaking wet, but damp. Then, put a glob of gel in your hand, rub your hands together, and apply the gel to your hair. Just put it in like it's shampoo. Just keep rubbing it in for like a minute, then let it dry. Don't brush it or anything. You can thank me later :] haha.

hey, of course a perm isnt the only way! i have naturally curly hair. but heres what i do to keep it in place and make ringlets.(if thats wat you want) at night, take a shower and scruch your hair upside down using curling gel(pantene curling gel works really good!!!). then put your hair up in a messy bun and sleep like that. DONT BLOW DRY IT. in the morning take your bun out and if its still a little wet, scrunch a little more gel in your hair. then if you have a diffuser do that to your hair and your hair will look awsome! dont forget hairspray!

You can get what they call a wavy perm..could be the easiest way to go.I do have a site for you to try. The also have a newsletter that you can sign up for.

www.thehairstyler.com

Go to hairstyle articles,on that page go to the art of hairstlying...there is a section on left side of page that says hairstyles with a subcat.on wavy.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, but your mum's right on this one. You could use a Crimper, but that just makes it look crimpy and a little wavy. Get a perm!

For bigger (not tight) waves, French braid your hair. My hair is naturally wavy and frizzy like yours, but I find that when my hair is 90% dry and I tightly French braid it and wait for it to completely dry, it makes the waves very defined and pretty (pig tails for tighter smaller waves, ponytail braid for larger ones). Hot steam rollers secured with bobby pins also help :) But then again I'm not sure what kind of waves your wanting to try, but I hope this helps!

Loose Pin curls, lots of heat, and a hair spray. I recommend Aussie Mega Hold.

Or, try a big barrel curling iron, maybe a 2 inch barrel and loosely wrap your hair around the barrel and hold for a few seconds. If it's too tight of a curl, just pull them and spray.

Or, if you want more of a curly wavy look, get a Regis styling glaze, or any styling gel/glaze made for curly/wavy hair. You can put it in your hair dry or wet. Then flip your head over and blow dry it with a diffuser. No hair spray needed. If you don't have a diffuser application that came with your blowdryer, they're only 6$

I love to make my hair wavy/curly and my hair is naturally wavy in some parts 2. What I do is the night before I wet my hair and put in some mossue and scrunch it up and leave it like that in a towel and sleep on it that way. Then in the morning when I wake up it's ready to go and I don't even have to go anything to it! Hope I helped!

Karen answered Friday March 4 2005, 6:30 pm:
To scrunch or make your hair wavy, you need to wash your hair and once you get out of the shower, you wrap your hair up in a towel for a minute and then brush your hair and put moose in it; you can use any kind of moose that will hold your hair style. Then you just brush your hair again and then just grab some hair in your hands and squeeze them and scrunching them. You can then put your hair in layers and scrunch it again. You can use a gel that is strong and just scrunch your hair. Any products by Aussie are great. You can then spray a little bit of hair spray to hold your wavy hair but the gel will hold your waves.

I have the same problem. And all the other answers you got said to braid your hair but that does NOT work for me. After i get out of the shower i put some mousse in my hair and then i use a diffuser (an attachement you put on the end of your blowdryer and it's purpose is to make hair wavy). This makes my hair alot less frizy and more wavy.
