hey. i'm a cheerleader too. now i don't kno what you'll have to do to try out, but we only did a cheer, a chant, and a jump. we have two cheer teams at our school-V & JV. I was on JV and we didn't have to do any cartwheels, back handsprings, or anything like that. A matter of fact, i can barely do a cartwheel.lol.
well, look at it this way, it's not your looks that matter. It's your commitment to the team. if you don't like going to practices or cheer at games, then you're not ment to be a cheerleader. but i you work really hard and do everything your supposed to, then you can be the best cheerleader that you wanna be!!!!

HEY! ive been cheering for 6 years and its soo much fun! cheerleading involves JUMPS, TUMBLING, and most important :::: SHARP MOTIONS/DANCE!!!! That last thing is the most important thing when trying out ANYWHERE. Go to a website about cheerleading and check out the motions and practice them! (ex. high v, low v, T,touch down) Stretch everyday and i would suggest getting together with someone who knows about cheer, or going to a cheer technique class in your area! any more cheer questions, ask me!~

azngemini answered Thursday March 3 2005, 5:24 pm:
you probably need to know how to do splits and cartwheels, or things like that. you should be skinny because you'll have to wear a short skirt.
you DONT have to be attractive. because in my middle school, I kno 2 girls that are cheerleaders, but they're like too skinny and it's not like they're anorexic or anything, they just have high metabolism. and they're like kind of.. ugly. even though i dont know you, you're probably a lot prettier than them :)
sooo you'll need to be skinny(but not too skinny), flexible, and you need to be outgoing and energetic to cheer your team on

just try your best, and if they dont like you, then it's their loss

yeah i agree with fab.
also, you ahve to be normal weight, vanity punds are ok, but otherwise, you should try to loose a lil. no offence if you are over it, just people like thinner cheerleaders. personally, i dont like them, i think that they are like anarexic..

Karen answered Thursday March 3 2005, 3:48 pm:
To be a cheerleader at your high school or middle school, you should know the basics as in round offs, back tucks, back hand springs, front hand springs, knowing how to hold up someone, and things like that. Basically, you just need to be flexible to do these moves. I used to be a cheerleader for about 2 years but I quit and I still know some things and such. You also need to know how to clap and how to do simple moves when doing cheers and so on.
