I'm really scared. I will soon have to have 2 teeth pulled! I was wondering how much it hurts, can you feel them actually pulling the teeth out, and how long it takes for it to stop hurting after you get them pulled. Please help! I'm really scared!!! I rate 5's by the way.
SLAW answered Monday February 2 2009, 12:12 pm: I got 3 front adult teeth pulled last Friday, it did not hurt it all, after your dentist or oral surgeon numbs it, you feel nothing, I haven't even had to take the prescribed hydrocodons, It hasn't hurt me yet, still a little wierd eating, only bad thing of it is is tasting the blood, i advise biting down on a tea bag for a few hours, helped me out, also I do smoked, and smoked frequently after getting them pulled, no dry socket yet thank god. evilenterprisesinc answered Thursday March 3 2005, 8:43 am: they dont give you lauging gas!!! HAHAHA thats stupid.. no... they give you local anasthetic or however you spell it. you dont feel any pain.. just feel them probing here and there.. if you feel pain.. tell them ow or something.. and they will give you more local.. I had a molar pulled as it was formed with a major defect (a massive hole) and it hurt.. so i told them it hurt and they gave me more anasthetic.. and yeah.. it never ever hurt again.. good luck! surferlil2002 answered Wednesday March 2 2005, 7:48 pm: depends on the teeth, if it's your wisdom teeth it will hurt no matter what. if it is any other two teeth, they are just going to give you novicane (sp?) and your can feel them tugging, but it doesn't hurt that much. as for the after pain, it'll hurt for a few days, but just take asprin. soulspeak answered Tuesday March 1 2005, 5:08 pm: Well first they tie strings to both of your teeth. Then they attack the strings to the tails of Siamese bob cats. Then they get Rottweilers to chase the Siamese Bob cats. Then the kitties run. Out comes the tooth.
c_assi_e_x_12 answered Tuesday March 1 2005, 12:44 pm: Well, it may hurt after you get them pulled, but it's different for everybody. You judge it on how well you can handle pain. Goo Luck and hope this helps!
Karen answered Tuesday March 1 2005, 8:52 am: Nope, you can't actually feel your tooth being taken out, well you can but it won't hurt at all, depending on how they numb your gums and such. I think it's different for everyone, for some people, it takes a day or two for the soreness to go away and for some, it doesn't hurt at all. You don't need to be scared, just think about what could happen to you that would be worse.

BeautifulMadness answered Tuesday March 1 2005, 7:10 am: It doesn't hurt, honest! I've had five teeth out and it didn't hurt at all. You can feel them pulling it out but it doesn't hurt, it just feels odd. It won't hurt at all if you take a painkiller when you first come out of the dentist. It might bleed for an hour or so and it does really hurt if you don't take a painkiller though. Your friend probably felt a lot of pain when she ate, which is normal, because the gum will still be sensitive, but if you have pain when you're not eating for longer than two days you should go back to your dentist 'cause there might be something wrong.
Blessed Be,

sunshine805 answered Tuesday March 1 2005, 12:15 am: If they are already loose, then it won't hurt. If it's like your wisdom teeth, it will probably hurt for a week or two. That's what happened to my sister. You can't really feel though if they numb it right.
Hope I helped!

Brunette27 answered Monday February 28 2005, 11:09 pm: I had to get 4 teeth pulled but I pulled them out myself!! try to pull them out yourself cuz it hurts way less than if you get them pulled. Plus, you actually have control of pulling them and you can do it at your own pace. [ Brunette27's advice column | Ask Brunette27 A Question ]
JazzY answered Monday February 28 2005, 10:34 pm: Well, I had four teeth pulled at once and I'm soon getting three at once too. Unfortuate, huh? Anways they gave me a shot that stung for a few seconds and then it was fine. They just yanked out the teeth and the last one hurt because it didn't want to come out, I don't know why, lol. But I ate soft foods for a couple of days. It was a little hard to start eating hard things, but once I started, I couldn't stop. You might want to sleep with a towel over your pillow in case you bleed at night which can happen but it's not serious or anything. Your gums will probably be sore for like 3 or four days but thats about it! I hope I helped you out and good luck!

S_C answered Monday February 28 2005, 9:30 pm: I'm the master at getting teeth pulled, I once had to have like 3 done at one time!!!! I was so scared, like I was sitting in the dentist chair before the people came in and my teeth were chattering, and I was soooooo nervous. I've had mouth surgeory before, and teeth pulling made me more nervous than the gum surgery. Well, it didn't hurt for me, and I'm no where close to begin able to tolerate pain. Let me just say when I have a phobia of neeedles.. yet Ironically I used to cut myself... maybe that's why I have a needle phobia. But I will seriously hypervenalate. If someone wanted to rob me, screw the gun or the knife, just get a needle and I'll do whatever you want. But for someone as afraid of numbing needles, and as afraid of the dentist as I am, and I don't think teeth pulling is that bad, it'll be fine for you. They sit you back in the chair, then numb you, and when they stick the needle in, there's a little pinch, but it's all good, then it takes 5 minutes or so for the stuff to work, and then they get to work. You can feel them like pushing on your teeth, but there's no actual pain. Like if someone was to cut your arm with a knife, you could feel the knife pushing against your skin, but you can actually feel the scrape. I think the worst part is being numb, since the numbing takes hours to wear off. And there's blood. They give you gauze that they put in your mouth, then depending on how much you bleed (it varies every time) you change the gauze every few hours or so. And you can't use a straw for a few days, and no spitting, if you wanna get the bloody saliva out of your mouth, you have to drool it out (EWWW ha ha. ) I hate the numb thing because it's hard to eat and drink, and your face feels completely terrible. That in my opinion is the worst part. But you'll be fine. It was not normal at all for your friend to have experienced that much pain. She must have broken one of the rules, and the black the openend up and caused a nerve to get hit. It's very important that you follow the rules they give you, it's not like braces, you can't bend the rules, you have to follow the rules they give. Sorry if I scared you, just letting you know the truth. Good luck. It's not that bad, trust me!!!!!!! [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]
piinkbabii781xx answered Monday February 28 2005, 9:01 pm: they use a numb shot that only pinches and it makes it numb so then you cant feel it and then after that you can only eat icesream and soup and i hope it doesnt hurt as much for them and dont worry about it [ piinkbabii781xx's advice column | Ask piinkbabii781xx A Question ]
xoPandaBabyxo answered Monday February 28 2005, 8:57 pm: Ok, I've had teeth pulled before, so I have experience, trust me. Ok, they'll most likely numb your gum so it wont hurt as bad, but remind them to wait a little while for the numbness to kick it so it wont hurt. the first time I got them pulled they didnt wait long enough so it hurt real bad! But, anyway, it does hurt a little bit, but just bear with them! To keep yourself occupied, I suggest you bring a CD player with you and keep your mind on other things besides "omg its gonna hurt so bad!!". After they pull your teeth out, you'll be bleeding real bad, but it wont hurt afterwards. Trust me, you'll be happy that its over with. You might get some pain in your head, but just take some idoprophin or something to ease the pain. The bleeding will stop probably in an hour or two, but I suggest you dont eat solid food till a couple days after. I hope I helped, and theres nothing to be afraid of. It'll all be over soon. I hope I helped, and Good luck! :)
confusedbabii answered Monday February 28 2005, 8:57 pm: no, you cannot feel your teeth getting pulled out and they give you novacaine and it works almost instantly. it barely hurts after you get them pulled and they put gauze where the teeth were to stop the bleeding and in some cases there is no bleeding. good luck & tell me how it goes! Thats what I did (because I am a big baby lol) and it really didn't hurt... you can tell because an houre later I was @ Mc Donalds stuffing my face
Good luck~ btw. rince your mouth out with salt water before you go to bed until the scabs go away- it makes the process of swelling speed up

xxxxxx answered Monday February 28 2005, 8:15 pm: well if youre put to sleep you obviously dont feel anything. but if youre awake, the numbing usually takes care of the pain part, you just feel it, ya know? afterwards your mouth will be sore but that lasts no longer than 3 days!
