Homework

Question Posted Tuesday February 22 2005, 7:06 pm

Whenever I am done with school, I go to track. After track practice, I go home and get home by around 5:00. I eat dinner, then watch some shows and go on the computer (like now, but it's only to get advice!). I end up starting my homework at 9:00 PM, setting my alarm for 5:00 to finish it, sleep through my alarm, and wake up at 6:00 with no time to do my homework. I always finish it on the bus and get off the hook, but I really want to stop and do my homework right away! How can I do my homework with plenty time to spare?

*I don't know why it would matter...but I'm 13/f.

You could either use your computer, or TV time, or stop track practice. I know none of those sound too appealing, but like annouying/funny/cool teachers say "education comes before anything else." So, you have to live by that, or you can ask your parents for help on what to decide for more time with yourself and homework, you sound like you've got a pretty tight schedule. And your parents could probably help you if you ask them.

Okay this is tough because you feel like you are pressed for time. Okay, how about set a time right after dinner 1 hour to do as much homework as you can. Then it will be around 6:30-7 when you get to watch tv and go on the computer. So you have about 2 hours of free time. Then at 9 finish your homework. It should only take about an hour or so to finish. Then you would be able to go to bed between 10-11 thats not that bad. If you stick to this type of planning you will be able to get by until track is over! good luckk

Do your homework before you get online or watch TV. OR start doing it during commercials and dont get online till you finish it. then you will have the rest of the day to go online and do whatever you want, and then in the morning you wouldnt have to stress about it.
belive me i would know, sometimes i dont start my homework till like midnight...and then i end up not finishing it.
hope that helped =)

What you could do is when you ge home from track maybe start your homework right away instead of going on the computer. Use your time wisely.

do your homework before you watch tv or get on the computer. or, instead of getting on the computer and watchin tv every day rotate them. heres a schedule you could go by when you get home:
monday: dinner, computer, homework, whatever
tuesday: dinner, tv, homework, whatever
get what im saying? or, do your homework while you are on the computer. or eat dinner while you are watchin tv. combine things like that so you will have time to spare. or, if you have extra time in one of your classes start your homework in there and get some of it out of the way.

ok... well first.. you could eat dinner while doing home work... second... try cutting back on the tv and computer... third... durring lunch or a free period durring the day... do your homework this way you won't have as much to do at home... fourth.. make a planner... for example it could say...
1) 5 - get home
2) 5: 05 - 5: 20 - snack/dinner
3) 5:20 - 6 - tv or computer
4) 6 - 8 homework or studying
5) 8 - 9- whatever you want to do or finish up homework

something like that... hope i helped

Karen answered Tuesday February 22 2005, 7:23 pm:
You need to convince yourself that doing homework and studying is more important than watching TV and going on the computer. When you are done eating dinner, go into your room and start doing your homework. Tell your parents that they need to tell you to do your homework or if they catch you going on the computer or watching TV that they should tell you to shut it off. Things will be hard at first but you need to tell yourself that homework is important, unlike watching TV or going on the computer. Once you do your homework, you will have time to do the things that you want to do.

I have the same problem. I can never sit down and do my homework; I always somehow put it off.
Try going into a very quiet room with no distractions at all. No people, TV, radio, or computer. Then just sit down and do it. Just think about how great it is to be able to relax for the rest of the night.
I hope I helped. Send me something if you need more help. ♥ Kristen
