AdviceMistress answered Wednesday February 23 2005, 11:54 am: sorry to say but there is no way to heal it fast. just think about it you don't want to mess up your ankle once again because you did track. just let it get better, it stinks now i know but look at me i torn my media collateral ligament during softball season and i only played 3 games and i was out for the season. but it was worth it cause now my knee feels so much better. hope you feel better.

Stay off of it as much as you can, but don't "over-stay" off of it, because it will become week. You should be able to do the tryouts, and the physicals, but be careful on the physicals. The tryouts should be ok though. Wear the brace with pride, your ankle will heal better (and faster, with less complications) if you wear the brace properly. If your ankle hurts, take meds. (like advil) stretch slowly for about 15 min a few times a day, walk a little bit, but not too much (like, walk around the block or whatever) Don't just ice one side, be sure to wrap the ice around your ankle. (same with heat) hope you make track!!

Relax as much as possible and as soon as the brace is off start doing little and often and light work. Hope that helps and that it gets better soon. xx [ vicki2k50's advice column | Ask vicki2k50 A Question ]

But, since you were on the soccer team, I'm sure that they know you are a good runner. Let the leader of the tryouts know that you are really committed and would love to be on the team. Let them know that you will be finished with the brace in two weeks and then you should be all better.
Come to the try-outs, come to the meets and help out with things they need. Be there for your team!
