jokerzgrl answered Thursday March 3 2005, 3:34 pm: Even though I've been a Witch for 2 years, I've never casted a circle, prayer usually works for me, honestly, but depending on the spell, I would use a cirlce, if you want to do it properly. You should try these sites for more info:
koshii answered Sunday February 27 2005, 1:33 pm: Casting a circle is a rather advanced way to raise energy and protection, and when doing simple spells such as candle spells, which are really more of a prayer (vs. a focusing of a large amount of energy--see?) it's not necessary to have a whole circle.
if you still feel you need protection from other energies, ask your spirit guardian or patron god to extend their protection to you. You should feel this immediately and then proceed when you're comfortable. In cases of doing magick in public, it's not practical to walk out a 30-foot circle, of course, so a silent request for protection is just fine. [ koshii's advice column | Ask koshii A Question ]
BeautifulMadness answered Sunday February 20 2005, 11:28 am: Well...no...
I have to admit that while I'm doing something simple like healing, a happiness spell or a blessing I don't, but if you're doing anything bigger than a chant, or anything that could be influenced by 'evil' (such a divination) then you really should. I;d say any spell that requires certain correspondances (candles, moon phase, etc) DEFINATELY needs a circle, as does any ceremonies (initiation, handfasting etc), as does any spell that is over say 8 lines or you want to go really well/be really powerful.
I hope that helped!!
Email me (my addys are on my profile) any time if you ever want to talk Wicca!!

Draak answered Saturday February 19 2005, 3:05 pm: You do not "need" a circle to perform rituals in either witchcraft or Wicca. But, in like every religion, there is a point in doing the whole ritual. Casting a circle and doing the complete ritual tunes your mind and your body to your selected task. Is it necessary with all rituals? No. Simple candle magick does not require you to cast a circle. Simple binding spells do not require you to cast a circle. It all depends on what kind of ritual you are performing and whether or not you are an actual Witch or Wiccan or a fake that sees this as an easy means to an end.

Hellheart answered Saturday February 19 2005, 1:50 pm: Circles serve several purposes, depending on which religion you're practicing.
In Witchcraft, a circle is not absolutely necessary but is always helpful, and encourages the success of a given spell. Covens also increase the power of the spell, naturally.
In satanic practices a circle is necessary to retain the summoned demon, to protect you from harm as it is contained within the boundaries of the circle. You can look on the internet for suggested binding agents, they usually depend on the specific demon and purpose.
For Wicca, spells are not used as often and the Wicca oath to not harm others prevents most of the reasons people want to use spells in the first place. Wicca doesn't have a set ritual for its spells, as they vary from person to person and are based more on putting as much feeling into the spell as possible. The use of circles, covens, chanting, etc. serves as something you can use to help magnify or channel your feelings. [ Hellheart's advice column | Ask Hellheart A Question ]
Ask_me_a_question answered Saturday February 19 2005, 1:41 pm: Here, I've done a little of this a few years ago, and what I know is that any spell will work if you have good intentions. There is not usually a definite method for any certain spell, but casting a circle is a spiritual opening that gets you into the right mood and supposedly summons the correct spirits, etc.
So in a shorter form, nothing is 'necessary' in doing a spell, but casting a circle is just something normally done and a tradition of sorts.
So have some fun : )

XxLiiLSiiNgErXX answered Saturday February 19 2005, 12:55 pm: first off wicca and witch craft are 2 completly diffrent things... look it up on google if you want to find out what either or is. Find which one you would rather be practicing and stick with it. Plus both of those are dangerous. And yes it is important to have a circle cuz if you knew anything about it, The circle is your protection.
