Is masterbation a sin? Some people think it is, and some people think it's not. Some people think it is-- only under cirtain circumstances. Like if it's for lust, then yes it is, but if it's not for lust then it isn't..> Is it? Or isn't it?

~*Annie*~ answered Monday January 10 2005, 6:33 pm: In the Catholic religion, yes it is, but under circumstances, it's really okay if you think it's okay. I believe that single people, who have been single all their life and are depressed because they have no one to share their love with, can masturbate because sex is scientifically essential to creatures. So yeah, I guess masturbating would be okay in that department. But hey, whatever floats your boat is fine. Just don't make it all public, because people don't really wanna know if you masturbate or not (Ones who do are perverts lol). [ ~*Annie*~'s advice column | Ask ~*Annie*~ A Question ]
zapreth answered Monday January 10 2005, 10:28 am: ok , masterbation is a means of self relief. God created your body with needs and desires. There is something called Temperance, the responcibility to balance your needs and desires. In other words God made you to get joy and physical relief from masterbation, but don't do it too often. All things in overabundance are a sin. Overabundance is anything that cuts into your life and causes a tilt in your personal balance. If you find yourself masterbating everytime you are alone, you have a sin. Otherwise don't worry it is normal, and God designed you this way. Big hug! Alin75 answered Monday January 10 2005, 9:41 am: Ok, to answer your question I will tell you what a teacher of mine once said. When I was in school years ago (I went to a catholic school for a period) the subject was brought up in religion class. The guy said that that it doesnt say anywhere in the bible that its a sin. Lust is a sin, so if you dont think dirty then it itsnt technically a sin. Now, some folks will tell you to read between the lines. In my opinion you cant and should not do that with any religious document of whatever faith- either the thing is totally right or totally wrong, anything else is second guessing the words of whichever diety one believes in. kevin1986 answered Monday January 10 2005, 2:10 am: It's only for lust. Yeah, technically,it's a sin. But it's less of a sin that unmarried sex. And God did make us wanna have it. So if not sex, next best thing is masturbation. Talk to him about it. [ kevin1986's advice column | Ask kevin1986 A Question ]
