Hey..my room is kind of big, but it's so boring! The walls aren't white, thankfully, but there's no where for my friends to sit when we hang out and it's not a really fun enviorment. Does anyone have any ideas on making my room more upbeat, inviting, or cool? Thanks!
twistedteen25 answered Wednesday June 29 2005, 11:58 pm: I would say but your room into different areas
Sleeping area
School area
Hanging out area
Try to paint your room purple or something upbeat
if you can't do that then try to get accessories or something to help spice up your room. Target Bed Bath & Beyond, and Ikea are totally recommended. [ twistedteen25's advice column | Ask twistedteen25 A Question ]
Poppsie answered Saturday April 16 2005, 7:43 am: Why dont you amke space for a sofa in your room and get loads of different bright cushion to put on it. Yopu could get those like fairy lights and hang them on your wall. You could get a disco ball and lights and hanging on to your ceiling so you and your friends can have your own little party. Or you could make a college of all your friends, family, favorite popstars etc.
Hope it helps. [ Poppsie's advice column | Ask Poppsie A Question ]

brown23 answered Wednesday November 24 2004, 2:59 pm: hi....i suggest getting some inexpensive pillows and pillow cases. then you can put them on the floor for them to sit on...put a small coffee table in the middle also ...you guys can eat or play a board game or talk or do homework there....
xOcRaZiCrAcKaox answered Thursday November 11 2004, 11:38 pm: What i do, is put bunches of pillows on the floor or beanbags! Try putting beads on your door to make your room seem inviting. Make the room seem personalized, lived in, and people will know that it's apart of you. Try doing unique things. Like, if you have a collection of something.for example:hats, hang them on the wall! it's functional and it looks cool. Just put little sayings on the wall on paper or something. Make the room _you_. Be creative! Do anything! It's your room. Have fun with it.
OcherryfaerieO answered Sunday October 17 2004, 9:54 pm: There are so many things you can do to make your room funner and more upbeat!
-One thing i like to do is make poster/magazine/picture collagues on my wall. You get posters, magazine cutouts, pictures of ur friends, etc and collague them on part of or an entire wall in your room. My friend has one wall in her room with one half full of blue colored ads, and one half with pink colored ads. Another cute idea with this is to get an add or poster or something that has one large element on it that you could cut out, and then fill it in with pictures of your friends.
-Seating when your friends come over is a big issuse. Bean bags always work well. I like the ones at target that are almost in the shape of a shoe... they are really nice and comfortable. Target has a few very funky type chairs that are cool. Also if your room is big enough you could always get a fluffy rug, some bean bags, pillows, and maybe a body pillow and make a floor seating area.
-Rearranging the furniture in your room is always a fun way to give it a fresh new look. Try putting your bed caddy cornor and putting your stereo or Cd player in the cornor. Another thing is to take the headboard off your bed (if you have one) and put your bed sideways and make it into a daybed type thing with lots of pillows!
-Color,Color,Color. Addiing color by means of posters, flowers, or just brightly colored room assecories is probably the best and easiest way to make your room more inviting. try using colors that compliment your wall color
-bring pieces of you into the room. if you like to draw, put some of your drawings up on your walls. If you write poetry, write one of your poems on a posterboard and hang it in your room. If you know the basics of how to use a sewing machine make pillows! they are really easy. Also, for a more advance sewer, take an old shirt that doesnt fit anymore and sew up the sleeves and neck. Stuff it then sew up the bottom! Shirt pillow! you can also make pillows with other items of clothing. If you like video games then get pictures of them off the internet and post them in your room. Also, if your parents will let you, get a letter setencil set, and paint a fav quote, or saying on to your wall. If not, then write it on a piece of paper and decorate it! Be creative!
-If you want more ideas try watching Knock first (on Abc Family), Trading Spaces Boys Vs. Girls (discovery kids channel), Trading spaces Family(TLC), and there are alot of other programs on TV that deal with home decorating. Any of these shows are sure to inspire you!
If you need any more ideas or any other help feel free to ask! hope i helped!

BlackAngel answered Sunday October 10 2004, 9:08 pm: I'd go for the lava lamp for sure. Actually, any kind of small, fun colored light would work well. Also, large pillows and fuzzy rugs for the floor would work nicely. As for other stuff, if you want, put the glow-in-the-dark stars on your walls/ceiling, and get some colorful curtains for the windows, maybe some kind of thing for over the door, like those strings of beads or something like that. If you want to try something on the walls, I'd recomend painting it all one color, like a base, then paint whatever you want on it, like, little designs, or if you're really into art then go for a bigger picture. If you have a corner you don't mind have words in, make it like a "friends corner" and have them all write something silly on the wall, and then sign it. Posters work well too, and leave an open space in the middle of the floor, with at least one corner open as well for putting pillows or a chair or something in.

Siren_Cytherea answered Sunday October 10 2004, 6:19 pm: Cut up old magazines and make collages on posterboards - or even right on your walls, if your parents will let you. Like, LOTS of them. My boyfriend's sister did that, and her room looks awesome.
As far as places for your friends to sit when you hang out, try taking a corner of your room and gathering a bunch of pillows - line the corner with the pillows, and add extras to make it really floofy. I've been meaning to do that to my corner for ages, but keep forgetting...
Fuzzy rugs are always good - or basically anything fuzzy. But that's an opinion thing. I love fuzzy stuff.
Ooh, beanbag chairs. Those are always fun. ^_^
Hope this helped!
