Is there anything bad for you in Diet Sodas? I know they say regular sodas are bad for you because they have so much sugar, but since diet sodas have none, does that mean they're fine for you? Is it okay if you have one or more a day? Or is there other bad stuff for you in there?
aNgeLxfOrEvEr answered Sunday September 19 2004, 9:55 pm: Well, I'm not sure about how good it is for adults, but kids really shouldn't have it. Diet sodas have the fake sugar stuff in it, and it isn't good for kids. Hope I helped!

russianspy1234 answered Saturday August 28 2004, 10:07 pm: the sweetner used in diet drinks is suspected to cause cancer. there is also something in them called phenolalanine and there are people with a disorder called phenolketoneurea (amongst otehr things it turns your pee black) well these people cannot digest phenolalanine and it will build up in their brain causing it to die. now for a normal person a large amount of phenolalanine is still bad but you would need to drink like a 12 pack a day for it to really affect you. still the cancer risk is enough, would you rather be a couple pounds heavier or die is the reall question when choosing sodas. musicbox379 answered Saturday August 28 2004, 1:29 pm: Yes. There is a sugar replacement calles Aspartame that many people believe can cause brain tumors. If you want a soda or a diet soda I wouldn't drink morthan one a day (maybe not even that). I stay completly away from sodas and I feel so much betterfor it. Hope this helps :) [ musicbox379's advice column | Ask musicbox379 A Question ]

Leigh answered Saturday August 28 2004, 10:18 am: All sodas are not healthy for you but I have actually heard that diet cokes and such are really bad for you too even though they are diet.
Even though sodas are really good they are horrible for you they not only are really bad for your teeth but are really bad for the inside of you too. Diet sodas have artificial sugar in it that is supposed to be really unhealthy for you.

Twinkle7371 answered Saturday August 28 2004, 1:15 am: Diet sodas may sound good or healthy because they have no sugar. But in most cases diet sodas contain artificial sweetener that can be worse then the sugar itself. Also many people are allergic to artificial sweeteners. And I'd stick to one a day since soda is unhealthy and bad for your teeth.
Clairabelle answered Saturday August 28 2004, 12:47 am: Though there is no sugar in it, it is sweetened with artificial sweetners, like Splenda. They have a lot of caffiene in them, unless you get the caffeine free version. A little caffeine is ok but too much can be bad for you. Also the carbonation in any pops wears away the enamel on your teeth so you should limit yourself to probably 1 pop a day. [ Clairabelle's advice column | Ask Clairabelle A Question ]

MFS answered Saturday August 28 2004, 12:22 am: Many diet sodas still contain a crapload of caffeine. Also, there is still debate on the artificial sweeteners used in diet pop. Some of the artificial sweeteners, like Splenda, can cause diarrhea and stomach discomfort. Nutrasweet is made of two amino-acids... typically they are in small doses in the body, and are fine... but in diet pop, you get a huge amount of them, which has lead to some controversy and, unfortunately, poorly run studies on the effect and bad media coverage.
