i think everyone probably covered most of it..i didn't read all the answers though.

THIS IS IMPORTANT!

when you first get them you will be really good at taking care of them and cleaning them (at least i was) KEEP IT UP! i got lazy and didnt clean them all the time..like i just would put them away in the solution and then put them back in..but stuff builds up! then when you put them back in your eyes it makes all the guck build up on the back of your eyelid...which cant be reversed. so make sure you clean them well! i have developed this yucky thing..you cant really tell that i have it..but if i continue..it could become a problem. also ask about like this hydrogen peroxide-ish stuff. its like super duper cleaner. you put your contacts in this little contraption and you fill it with the hydrogen peroxide stuff and it bubbles! its so fun to watch. hehe. but then you don't have to rub them or clean them at all..it does it all for you. so ask about a "no rub solution". its great. but DONT PUT IT IN YOUR EYES..it stings like heck. the case turns it into regular saline over night that wont hurt your eyes.

sorry for the babbling.

I have contacts too =). Anyways, here are some tips:

1. NEVER rub your eyes!

2. Always clean your contacts after your take them out.

3. I use Renu solution, you may wanna try it!

4. If you see your eyes turning red, remove your contacts right away!

5. Always trim your nails, because they can accidentally cut the contacts.

6. Keep your contact lenses case handy, just in case.

7. Buy some eye drops to keep your eyes moist, because contacts can make your eyes dry and irritated.

8. Don't sleep with them. They can be displaced, and it will hurt in the morning.

9. Change your solution EVERYDAY!

10. Clean your contact lenses case once a week to prevent dirt or other substances from entering your solution.

11. Try to only wear your contacts for 5-6 hours, because they tend to stick on your eye, which makes them harder to take out.

12. Wash your hands before putting them in and taking them out.

13. Avoid smokers, because the tar can stick to your contacts causing them to hurt.

14. If you wear eye make up, put it on before putting in the contacts.

15. Gel/Hair spray should also be put in before the contacts.

16. Good Luck! Hope I helped! Please rate me!

Don't rub them really fast or hard because then the edge of the contact will rub against your eyes and it hurts like crazy. And try not like putting lotion on your hands and then rubbing your eyes cause it'll sting. That's all. Hope I helped! <3

All these answers are great. I would always have a pair of eyeglasses close by in case you dropped your lens on the floor, or they were being particularly annoying that day. I would recommend cleaning them and putting them on in the bathroom because you can recover your dropped lenses easier.

well form my own personal experience with contacts...make sure your not putting them in inside out! cuz that hurts lyk hell...and make sure u always keep it clean and whatnot...and when you get them..dont try and keep on putting them in and out when you get them...cuz your eyes will hurt and youll get frusturated if you have trouble getting them in and out...contacts are awesome...once you get the hang of putting them in and out!

*Apply hairspray before puttin the contacts on
*Apply Make-up afterwards
*change ur saline every nite
*keep a bottle of Saline in ur locker ( u can probably get a small sample bottle from the place u are purchasing ur contacts )
One thing u should really look out for is if ur contact falls on the floor or on the sink... DONT put it baQ in ur eye witout cleaning it...

The doctor should tell you everything you need to know - but if you have any specific questions, write them down and ask when go to pick up the contacts.

I wore contacts on and off for years - the biggest advice I'd give would be to make sure they stayed nice and moist. If you have a tendancy to get dry eyes, buy some contact-friendly drops to carry around with you. Don't ever sleep in them.

And if they ever do get stuck, the best thing is to sit down and breathe for a few minutes. You'll need to keep applying drops until they loosen up, and they WILL come out.

The eye doctor will/should tell you everything you need to know, however, in the event that they don't actually do their job.

Most of the information I found on the internet seemed pretty common sense-ish, however, I pulled out some specific points I read that seemed out of the ordinary and possibly useful to you.

"Contact lens wearers should insert their lenses before applying makeup, especially liquid foundation."
"you probobly stand a much better chance of contamination from an unwashed case as you do from washing it in water. use very hot water, and scrub occasionally with an old toothbrush, then air-dry it. most cases are manufactured to be boilable. (not with the lenses in it)"
"your contact lenses may slide under your eyelids or become displaced. If this occurs, try looking in the direction of the lens to get it to move back to the correct position. If you wear soft contact lenses, they will tend to center automatically on the cornea. If you wear rigid gas permeable lenses, you may need to manipulate a displaced lens through the eyelid."

Annnd that about does it for non-common sense situations I'd say. I wouldn't worry too much about the contacts, the doctor will most likely tell you or give you something that tells you everything you need to know.
