im gettin braces in like 2 days, and i was wondering
does it hurt when they put them on?
or does it hurt more a fefw days later?

Some of my friends said they hurt after but they take a few advil or something and it helps a lot. Oh and it apparently it hurts a bit after you get them tightened too, but you'll get used to it and it won't be as bad once you've had them on long enough.

Well from what i know braces dont hurt unless the wire breaks like 5 of my friends have braces but thats where you got the wax and ect.-trix

U will feel a little discomfort when you eat later that day. I ate french fries from Mcdonalds the day I got them on & it didnt bother me too bad. It doesnt hurt when they put them on, but for the next few days u may have to take asprins because it does hurt. Your teeth will be sore and feel a little loose. well mine did anyways.....

all they dO wen they put them On is glue the brackets tO yOur teeth...the glue is a lil grOsse thO...then they put the wire On but there is nO pain wen u get them On...while they are On they mite get a lil sOre but its nOt bad at all...hOpe ii helped!

Um they will hurt for a little bit because they are moving your teeth around, but just take some tylonal and youll be alright! Um i dont think it will hurt right away, but when your teeth start to shift they get sore...also be careful you dont cut your mouth up! It might look dorky and all but at home you the wax they give ya so you dont have bumps in your mouth where they rub! xoxo

when i got my braces on it didnt hurt at first but later that day it felt like my teeth were pulling, but as soon as it started hurting i took a tylenol and it was all good =) thats really the only time braces ever hurt. if i were u id take medicine right after u get them on! good luck!! youll have a BEAUTIFUL smile when u get them off =D!!

It doesn't hurt TOO much pain when they get put on, but your mouth feels really odd. Get some food RIGHT after you eat them, because the pain starts to kick in later that day and keeps on pretty strong for the next couple days before it starts to go away. Be sure to take painkillers.

braces don`t hurt that bad when they are putting them on.. it is just awkward and tight. your mouth will be really really sore for the first few days maybe a week or 2 so its hard to bite or chew... but you can drink smoothies and milkshakes and eat a bunch of ice cream ! and its all worth it when you get them off and you have a beautiful smile ! =D

It takes a few hours for your braces to begin hurting. I would suggest stocking up on soft foods like yogurt and mashed potatoes and also medication like tylenol or advil. For most people it will only hurt for a couple days but depending on your pain tolerance it could be longer.
Also, a little off subject but still important- remember to brush your teeth as much as the orthodontists tell you to. My friend didn't, and now she has to get a permanent bleaching of her teeth because it left really bad stains.

Hello well i dont have braces i might have to get them but one of my best friends got them and told me they didnt hurt when she got them..she said after u get them a couple days later they will get sore a little and you wont be able to eat or drink certain things..Dont get scared im pretty sure they will not hurt..GOOD LUCK!!

Hey there!!No braces don't hurt when they're being put on.For me,the worst part was the spacers I had to wear for approx. a week before they put the braces on,but even that got better.It's a breeze to get thru when they put them on,but a day or 2,sometimes even 3 days after they WILL hurt,but trust me,it's nothing you can't handle!!Just follow the dentists instructions,take ibuprofen(it's the best for the aches & pains),take it easy for about a week,an stock up on popsicles,ice cream,and jello!!Heehee!! I had mine for 2 years,and I am THRILLED with the results.It's all worth it!!

I never got mine yet! My old beat friend got some and she said it didn't hurt at all. I bet it would hurt when they like tighten it up. That should be it! Don't be scared!

It doesn't hurt much to get them put on. It's a little unpleasant, because the glue they use to attach the braces tastes strange, but it's not painful. For about 3 hours after you get braces, you will feel like you can't close your mouth. It will start to hurt after about an hour. When you wake up the next morning, the pain will be pretty intense. You will only want to eat soup, yogurt, and apple sauce. And get some tylenol, it will make your teeth feel better. I speak from experience. It ends up hurting for about a week and a half.
