hey my name is Devin but i wouldnt recomend it. just tell her if shes making it unique and its a girl still make it really girlish. i dont like to be though of as a guy when people hear my name. i really like the name Ryleigh but thats kida boyish with a more girly spelling. Gracie anne is really cute too. having 2 first names or unusual spellings of somewhat common names is cool too.

for a girl:
Willow
Eve
Mena
Kethry
Kinsey

For a boy:
Alister
Alexei
Esau

BabyNameCenter.com has lists of unusual names. The boy names were taken from there. It also has this to say about unusual names:

If you do not want to use a popular or traditional name, there are many ways to come up with your own unique name. Some techniques you can use to come up with a unique or unusual name is to use an ethnic or foreign variation of a popular name (Emilia, an Italian form of Emily), using a place name (although there are some popular ones like Dallas or Dakota), using an occupation as a name (Sailor), using a last name or surname as a first name (Kennedy), or using names from nature (Summer, River, Forest, etc).
You can also create your own name by adding a diminutive ending to a popular name (-ina, -ette, -ita), adding a prefix before a name (Da-, La-, Ta-, etc), spelling a common name differently, or combining or blending other names.

The danger of using a unique name, especially if it is very unusual, is that while it may make your child stand out from the crowd, he may stand out too much and can lead to teasing.

I would also suggest fantasy novels (such as Mercedes Lackey's Heralds of Valdemar series) as a source of unique names. That's where Kethry came from.

I write books, and I try to use unusual names for all my characters. I got most of them at www.Babynames.com Great website for names.
Girls:

Iris
Isis (Ice-iss)
Cassandra
Callantha
Althea (I think this one means healer)
Calixte
Cytheria
Calista
Calandra
Lexi
Aradia
Aurora (goddess of the dawn)
Aria
Aura
Aure
Irene (my name...teehee) (means "Peaceful".) So unfitting for me.
Boys:

Cade
Caden
Kaden
Calix
Nicodemus
Trevor
Treaven (made that name up. Not sure it means anything, lol.)
Neal
Dante

There are more at that website. You can even search by first letter! It's cool. ^_^

I've always adored my friend's name, Shiloh. It supposedly symbolizes perfection. It's a genderless name, but my friend's a girl if that helps at all.

FernGully answered Sunday June 20 2004, 9:18 pm:
Eulalia - which is pronounced - YouLayLeeAh

Shes a Saint, she was burned to death when she refused to deny God. Theres a lot more to the story but its long. Even if you aren't religious its a kick ass name because she just stood up for something she believed in and refused to give in to people who threatened her, even with death.

SO its a pretty cool name, unique and with meaning.

OR you could name the kid Pandora, so when they do something really wrong you can be like 'Way to open up another box of crap, Pandora.'
