Courtney answered Tuesday April 13 2004, 9:49 pm: I have never done this sort of thing before , but I do know that if you go to a store you can buy condoms and birth control pills not over the counter . You don't have to have a perscription from your doctor . Now you could go to a clenic and ask for birth prevention things and stuff like that when you need that stuff . If you have questions though , you need to ask your parents or your doctor about this . I asked my parents about this that is why I know so much when it come to protection . fyre answered Wednesday December 31 2003, 6:16 am: yes, a scrip is required and for good reason. There are health risks (though they are rare) associated with the pill.
Remember, though, there are many different alternatives to the pill, including: norplant (implant in the upper arm, good for five years), Depo (The Shot) (a shot, every three months), The Patch (a seven day patch, like a stop-smoking patch).
ScaperJess answered Sunday December 21 2003, 10:31 am: they are trying to make the morning after pill (plan b) over the counter but that’s not as good as birth control pill which is prescription only. [ ScaperJess's advice column | Ask ScaperJess A Question ]
OneMan answered Saturday December 20 2003, 5:31 pm: Although there is talk of the "morning after" pill making it's way onto the shelves of this great country, you still have to have a doctor's prescription to obtain birth control pills. They have to be tailored to your body's specifics and anything short of that may not give you the results you seek. [ OneMan's advice column | Ask OneMan A Question ]
Jaslet answered Thursday December 18 2003, 6:57 am: Im not sure how it works in the usa but here in the uk you usually have to see either a doctor or go to a family planning clinic, both of which are completly confidential but the best option if you are afraid of people knowing you is the family planning clinic, perhaps in the next town? You need to get them from here because they need to check up on your medical history and check your blood pressure every few months to make sure you recieve the right pill for you and that you dont become ill. spacefem answered Wednesday December 17 2003, 6:34 pm: Prescription only, and for good reason. If you have high blood pressure or other health issues, the pill might not be a good idea for you. Doctors will screen for this. You'll also have to have a pap smear... even though many people go on the pill for reason other than birth control, it's assumed that you're going to be sexually active, and you shouldn't be sexually active without an annual exam. shay*shay answered Wednesday December 17 2003, 3:59 pm: Hmmm. I think you should check with your doctor about that. Since Ive never been under birth control I strongly think you should. Even a parent or gaurdian would do.
