Why do girls get more depressed than guys?

I'm a columnist on here and have been for about a year or so. I've noticed hundreds of questions dealing with depression. While I understand that it seems to be more common in teenagers now, why is it that it is mostly girls? Is it the way they are raised? Is it imprinted in DNA? I'm interested in the psychological aspect of it and hope to major in it someday, but I've looked it up everywhere online and can't find a reliable source. Anyone know the causes of this or where to find it? Thanks.

14/f. i'm starting school soon and i have two questions:
1) i dont know what to wear on the first day of school. i want to wear jeans, but my school has no air conditioning, and i don't want to be hot. so i thought i would wear a jean skirt, but i think that everybody will wear skirts, and i don't want to be like everybody else. oh and i really don't like wearing shorts, so any good ideas?
2) also i have a problem for school picture day. i always straighten my hair, and that is what i want to do on picture day. but since my school doesn't have air conditioning, i'm worried that my hair will curl and frizz by picture time. i have my pictures taken 7th period, which is the second to last period of the day.

you know that new liine of makeup? the rimmel london cosmetics? i know you can buy them at Walgreens, but i was wondering if you can also buy them at CVS stores? i just need to know so i don't waste a trip to CVS and not be able to buy them.
also does anyone know if they are any good??

this might seem weird, but i have a question about where to put eyeliner. is it better to put your eyeliner on the inside rim of your eye (like that little line of skin right before your eyeball?), or just before your eyelashes?

My friend, Kelsey, is always talking about her so called best friend behind her back and how much she hates her because she always copies her. About two months ago Kelsey said that she wanted to play the guitar but she ended up never taking lessons or anything. I was at my piano teacher's house and her daughter plays the guitar and taught me how to play a song and it was really fun. So, now I really want to take lessons, but I'm afraid Kelsey will start talking about me behind my back and say that I copied her. She'll find out I'm taking lessons no matter what because we are always around each other. Any ideas on what I should say to Kelsey when I tell her I'm taking lessons?

Nervous Freshman!!!

Hey. Well I'm 14/f and I'm a freshman in highschool, and a little nervouse. Today was my first day and I only talked to a few people and didn't really make friends. I have friends who go to the school but they aren't in my classes or lunch and I want to make new friends as well. None of my friends are in my lunch, and I'm not really a good conversation starter, so I was wondering if I should just sit at a table with a group of people I don't know and start talking to them? What should I say? And I want to talk to this girl in my Spanish class because she seems nice, but I don't know if we can talk in class and I don't even sit near her. I was wondering about starting up a conversation and talking to her after class, but again, I don't know ...

okay well i've gotten my period before, but i have a few questions. does your discharge get heavier before your period? like i've been getting my period for a few monthes now, but just now i noticed my discharge getting a lot heavier and i was wondering why? oh and i really don't want to be gross right now or anything, but can you get gas from your period too? thanks so much, this will really help me understand things better.

now that i'm going into 9th grade (my last year of middle school), i have started getting depressed lately. i keep thinking about how i've never had a boyfriend, never been kissed, and i keep thinking that nobody likes me. what can i do to make myself feel better about myself. i'm 14/f if that helps any.

Excercise Plan

I have a very slender figure but I feel so out of shape. The only excercise I get is dance class once a week. My parents have tried to put me in sports, but I just don't enjoy them. Plus, it is hard for me because I have Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was wondering if somebody could make me an excercise plan that targets the biceps, stomach, and thighs. And keep in mind that I'm trying to build muscle & tone...not loose weight. Thanks so much =)

i've tried putting on liquid foundation before but i can't seem to find the right shade for my skin tone. its really frustrating! Are there any tricks to finding the right shade from looking at the bottle in the store? also, when i put foundation on in a duller light in my bathroom it looks fine, but if i turn on a brighter light it looks incredibly horrible!...like you know how everybody had very very light, almost invisible facial hair (i guess)..all over your face, well they become more visible i suppose. but i am not sure if its supposed to be like that. AHHH please helppp!

At the moment, it seems that one of my good friends is really annoyed with me. I don't get to see them a lot, so it's not like I've really had a chance to do much. I've basically decided to leave them alone for a while and then see if I can apologize or something to that matter. Does this seem like a good plan? Or should I do something different?
