Questions about working out at the gym (girl) Posted Sunday June 6 2010, 6:41 am
I joined Bally Total Fitness and I'm going to be working out this summer from now til the end of August, to get skinny for school next year. (3 months) I'm 16 years old, 5'4", and 165 pounds. I think I could pass as looking like I weigh 140 pounds though.. because my problem isn't really jiggly fat.. its like either hard fat or muscle I guess. I'd like my body to be leaner, and less chubbier. Close to model skinny. I want to lose 55 pounds in 3 months
Please answer all or some of my questions! (All is preferred obviously haha. thanks so much if you can help!!)
To reach my goal...

What are some quick ways at losing weight and gaining muscle? I exercise and all, but it just doesn't seem to be helping that much or as fast as I would like it to. I would like to lose about 10lbs a month, seems reasonable to me, and what I'm losing in weight I would like to gain in muscle. I'm 13(m)

I love to work out and I stay very active. My problem is that I go way overboard when I eat. For example, after I work out I will eat a whole bag of snickers and not even feel full. Afterwards, I get so mad at myself. I love to eat and don't have much will power to stop eatting when I should. I definitely am healthy, but I would tone up fast if I stopped eatting all the time. I eat even when I am not hungry. Is there anything I can do to stop doing this? Thanks!

How many times should I go to the gym a week (how long should I stay at the gym, and what exercise equipment should I use? I go to Bally Total Fitness), what can I do to control cravings, and what types of foods should I be eating, and how many times a day? I also want to train for volleyball season next school year, so if you know any special volleyball exercises that can help me get more in shape, please tell! I want to be skinny and toned when I get back to school, and shexy! haha. Thanks if you can help :)

I'm a fourteen year old female. I'm not overweight but I want to get in shape. So I really want to lose weight all over especially in my thighs and legs. So me and my friend are going to walk/jog outside for almost an hour everyday and then swim for 30-60 minutes. Well this eventually get my the results I want? I will pair this with a fair diet.
I don't want to gain muscle and I heard that if you do the same thing everyday you gain muscle not lose weight so what could we do every other day?

Like many people, I'm trying to get abs. Or at least some definition. Now I'm not fat, but I do have a little pooch over my stomach, and I know that you need cardio training mixed with core and strength training to get your fat in front of the abs to go away, and get your ab muscles to actually show.
So I was wondering, if I run 3-5 days a week, and I use a stability ball for core training 5 days a week, will I see results?
I'm also eating better nutritionally. I have smaller portion sizes, and am eating healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins.
I am 16 and weigh 130, so I'm not totally "fat" I just want to look tone and maybe drop a few.

this person i know has been a chain smoker, consuming 1 or more packs of cigarettes per day. Alcohol intake starts from morning to night, a bottle or less per day. He's 46 now.. what could be the possible effects soon?? what are the long term effects? how's his life span?

Does the Jillian Michaels Fat burner pills really help? Is there a difference, besides in price, in buying them from Walmart or GNC? Or any other pills that help lose weight, with the help of working out. I am 123 and 5'3 if that helps.. would like to shed some pounds.

Hey everyone,
I'm an 18 year old female weighing about 190 lbs. Even though I don't look morbidly obese, my weight does bother me, and I'd love to lose a bunch of weight, especially for the sake of my health.
At school, we have a gym. Most of the machines are broken (elliptical, bikes with no resistance) but you can still use them. There's also a treadmill, which I love using.
So, here is what I've been doing lately. I use the treadmill for a good 35 minutes, with in incline of 10% and speed of 5. Is that good to lose weight?
I hate the elliptical because it's so tiring, but I love it because it helps lose weight. So I usually do about 10 minutes on it (unfortunately)

I take birth control so it's harder for my body it gain muscle. I'm not fat but I'm just not happy with my love handles. I've been eating healthier and have been exercising but my love handles don't seem to tighten up. Is there anything I can take to tighten my muscles like Quicktrim or something like that?

I'm 5'4" and my mom is 5'9"-5'10" and my dad is 5'7"-5'8". My sister is 1 year older than me and shes 6'0"! Wtf, why am I so short!! Im hoping this 1/2 inch will mean I'll grow a lot. Lol what does it typcially mean when your feet grow 1/2 an inch? I heard your feet grow before your body grows, so its a sign. My foot size is now 10 1/2 so I have to get 11. My sisters feet are size 13. What am I doing wrong? Like should I sleep more? Exercise more? I dont exercise much.. does that have to do with it? Im 165 pounds.. a little overweight according to the BMI calculator. does that come to play? Wahh..help. Im 16.. im not too late to grow right? Okay, here's the deal.
The prom dress of my dreams only had a size 2 left in stock, which I bought.
..I'm a size 4.
I can fit into the dress, but it's slightly uncomfortable.
Prom is in early June and I need to slim down to a 2 by then.
What can I do?
I have no access to a gym / exercise machines.
Also, my schedule's pretty crazy at the moment; I get a LOT of hw/studying and don't get home from school until about 6pm.
I've considered walking home from the train after school (~3miles) every day. Would this be enough or should I do more?

Okay so i'm a 15 year old girl who wants to gain weight or muscle to be exact. I am beyond skinny which everyone says i'm lucky because i have a models body but i have really thin arms and chicken legs so i can't wear dresses or shorts or anything for that matter. i recently joined a gym and i bought this protein shake called amplified wheybolic extreme 60. I would like to know if it works and how long it takes. I haven't started drinking it because i don't wanna get all gross with huge muscles i just want my arms to not be so skinny and to have good enough legs i still wanna keep my body just make it not so skinny. i want to get in shape & get this cellulite off my legs. does any one know how to tone my legs & butt? & would it cause me to lose my butt? & also ... i HATE my boobs. they're a c-cup. i just want a b. is there any way to work them out . make them a little less fatty. & lose a little weight there WITHOUT making them saggy?
