XSoul0ficeX answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 3:40 pm: When we got a dog a few months ago, he wasn't potty-trained either. So what we did was each time he 'went' in the wrong place, we put him on the newspaper and said loudly and firmly 'PEE PEE HERE'. He got the point in about 2 days. You should also take her outside about 1 hour after you see her drinking, maybe she'll get the point. [ XSoul0ficeX's advice column | Ask XSoul0ficeX A Question ]
XxStRaWb3rRyxX answered Saturday January 8 2005, 3:13 pm: Put her nose in it and tell her no then put her outside. Also with female dogs you can tell when they are going to go poddy..if you see her walking around with her nose on the ground or going in circles or getting ready to get into that "position" tell her no and rush her outside. Ryan_10 answered Friday December 31 2004, 10:21 pm: Well, you can always try leaving her outside most of the day so shell eventually you know have to go outside. shell get used to it more and more. i meen dont put her out there day and nite but just let her ouside for 3 hours, maybe play with her if you think shes getting lonly. Maybe by a week or two shell be so used to it. OR you can do it the hard way. Yelling. This is a last resort. You might have to yell at the dog when she does 'it'. -----ryan------ [ Ryan_10's advice column | Ask Ryan_10 A Question ]
LiLBoYCrAzYBaBe09 answered Thursday December 23 2004, 10:59 pm: Heya, we jus had a puppy 2. Sorry to say, but thats all you can do! Yell at it and scream no and it will get scared and stop then pich him/her up and run it outside real quick be4 it goes to the bathroom more. Ya, i know its annoying, but it only took our puppy about 2-3 weeks, and if you dont want it going on your floor, jus keep you door closed all the time. We put a baby gate up so our puppy was limited to space. Your puppy should be fine if you take him outside for jus a couple of minutes. We have 3 dogs and the 1st one we had we got when he was 4 weeks old, and we jus let him do his business then brought him back in!! If you see that he/she is gettin cold, try and warm him/her up by rubbing your arms on its side if youre out there a while!! Think of it as, its not that long, and youll only have 2 do it once!! Hope i Helped and have fun with your puppy!!
xxBrOkEnxx answered Thursday December 23 2004, 7:10 pm: ok well its going to take time...when i got my dog he kept doing that to but after we would let him out and stuff and when he went outside we would give him a treat just keep saying no and stuff.. Lil_Chocolate_Boi answered Wednesday December 22 2004, 10:45 pm: Ok u might wanna try using pee pee pads. And if s/he keeps using the bathroom on the floor, get a cage and put him in there for a real long time. Don't take him out or nothing don't even look at him. That is how I got my dog potty trained [ Lil_Chocolate_Boi's advice column | Ask Lil_Chocolate_Boi A Question ]
Kr4z3y_Ch3lly answered Wednesday December 22 2004, 3:22 am: Well, my advice is tht you get these things called "puppy pee pads" there like a blue color with white ontop...When ever she does her "#2" put it on the pad so that she knows thats where she needs to go..Show her thts where it is. Also when you see her start to go rush her to the pee pad and put her on there!! Also telling her no wont work cause shes so young..after you put her on the pee pad and she gos give her some type of treat!! And shell keep going on it to get more treats! So once she starts going on it on her own still give her treats for about a week then after that stop..Once shes old enough to go out side to go potty..Put the pee pad out there!! Then do the same thing...Then once she get the hang of it shell start going outside!! Im not sure i helped but i hope i did! Good luck! charmed-cherry21 answered Tuesday December 21 2004, 9:32 pm: Well first off she has to use the outside if she cant use the floor. ANYWAY my dog was like this too so basicly you have to keep doing what your doing and eventually shell learn. Cloe [my dog] still does this sometimes, but usually it is just when I am not keeping a very close eye on her or if she just drank alot of water and I didnt know that. She rarely does it now but whenever she does go potty outside praise her and give her a treat each time she does. when she goes inside be like "NO BAD GIRL!". Kinda yell it but not too loud.
kittygurl90 answered Tuesday December 21 2004, 8:11 pm: one thing you could do is when ever she goes on your floor (This is mean, but it works) rub her nose in it..i did it with my dogs and it worked really well. Another thing you could do is buy one of those door bells for your bedroom and when ever she has to go teach her to press it and eventually when ever she has to go she will learn to ring it each time she has to go. You could try to teach her to use a litter box (for cats) unless she is a BIG dog, then i suggest not using that idea. Hope i helped!! Good luck!!! -KittyGurl90 [ kittygurl90's advice column | Ask kittygurl90 A Question ]
Shortie8959 answered Tuesday December 21 2004, 5:48 pm: Make sure the bathroom door is closed. Put newspaper where ever you want her to do her business. Here's a trick we used on my dog. It's works great. (she's 7 y/o now, but this was when she was a puppy): Get someone to nail a hole in the wood part next to your door or somewhere close to the newspaper, and hang a bell or chimes on it. Whenever you see that she has to go, pick her up, and put her nose on the chimes so they ring, then take her to the newspaper. If you keep doing this, she'll know that before she goes, she has to ring the bell. And once she catches on, and rings the bell, you'll hear and always know when she has to go, and you can make sure she goes where you want her to. Good luck!
Hope I helped!

selectopaque answered Tuesday December 21 2004, 2:44 pm: You need to take your puppy outside AT LEAST every two hours. At least. She is only 7 weeks? Wow, it's actually illegal to take a puppy or a kitten away from it's mother before 8 weeks old. But oh well, just work with her and you'll eventually get it.
Your doing a good job by taking her out every time you see that she needs to go. Eventually she will understand, but until then, take her out every time she wakes up, after every time she eats, drinks, plays extensively, etc. Basically take her out a lot.
When you catch her going to the bathroom in the house, scold her, but dont' scare her. Scaring her will make it worse. But sternly tell her no, and maybe pat her on the nose. But, if you don't actually catch her, and you only see the mess after she's already done it and left, then you shouldn't scold her for it. She won't be able to tell that she's being scolded for actually going on the floor, she'll just think she's being scolded for see poop or pee.
When you bring her outside and she goes to the bathroom, make sure you give her plenty of praise and "good girl"s. Bring her favorite treats with you and feed her a treat after every time she goes to the bathroom.
Now, you can also put her in a crate when you can't watch her. But don't use a crate for longer than a few hours. If she is in the crate, she won't want to make a mess because dogs naturally do not like to sleep or lay near their messes. They are naturally clean animals. But, if you leave her in there for too long, and she has to go to the bathroom, and then sleep right next to it, then she will develop bad habits and will become a very dirty dog.
But used properly, a crate can help with doggy training. You might want to try to leave her in there at night, while you sleep, only as long as you let her outside to go to the bathroom as soon as you, or her, wakes up.
Good luck on everything.
***EDIT***
Oh, I'm sorry, did I upset you by telling you what is wrong and what is right?
Were you really that mature that you had to change my five to a two?

xObroKen68x3 answered Tuesday December 21 2004, 11:47 am: You are going to have to take her outside on a schedule. When we got our dog, we took her outside every hour to see if she had to go. And only wait about 5 minutes, then take her back inside. I also kept the doors in the house shut, and we kept her confined in the kitchen for a while. You could put up baby gates like we did, usually that will teach them. We took our dog to an obedient school and that didn't really help as much as people said, so I would steer away from that! We kept her in the kitchen for about 2 months and when we did let her out she was fine! It is tedious work, but in the end it is worth it! I hope this helps! PinkLady4863 answered Tuesday December 21 2004, 10:07 am: i have two dogs iof myself and believe me this is common. the trick is you can't just say no, you have to yell it, while looking mean, and gentleyhit him on the nose. i know this sounds mean, but it works. then whenever he goes outside or waits at the door to 'go' outside give him a treat, a litlle petting with a bisket. i am afraid this will take some time, it won't work overnight. but believe me, it works!
good luck hunnie,

zapreth answered Tuesday December 21 2004, 9:49 am: Take her outside everytime she wakes up or has been playing for awhile and 20 min after she eats. Crate her at night (I would put the crate in the bed with me and take her out when she gets restless.) and when you put her down for naps. Praise her when she pees or poos outside, give her a treat. Make sure she knows HEY THIS IS THE RIGHT THING. I GET FOOD AND LOVE WHEN I DO THIS. Clean the spots where she has gone inside with lysol or vinegar and water. Limit her roam of the house. At her age she does not need to be allowed run of the house, period. She must ALWAYS be watched and try to notice the signs that she uses before she goes. This will help you know when to take her out. As she gets older she'll be able to hold it for longer periods of time. She'll learn some way to alert you that she needs to go outside. **A note on buying a crate - you want one that she can stand and turn around in easily, but not enough room where she can potty on one end and sleep on the other. The point of the crate is to give her a place to sleep, not a litter box. She will not want to lay in her own waste and will learn to hold herself much quicker. Plus this is the SAFEST way to transport your pet. You many need to buy another as she grows, but it will be well worth it. Between me and my family we currently have 8 dogs. Mine and my sister's 3 were crate trained and they were housetrained twice as fast as my parents' . Also when ever we say "Want to go Bye-Bye," they run in the crates and are ready to go. It will take time and be a lot of work, but this is part of being a loving and responcible pet owner. Have fun and Good Luck! [ zapreth's advice column | Ask zapreth A Question ]

LilMia811 answered Tuesday December 21 2004, 9:08 am: If she can't go outside you should try wee wee pads. They aren't expensive abd you can find them in a lot of pet stores. You need to work on training her. 7 weeks is old enough for her to understand. When you get the wee wee pads show her where they are. Put her face real close to it and then look at her and say this is where you go pee. I know it sounds funny but it works. But she's not gonna understand in a day. When she makes on the floor grab her and put her face where she went at, not in it just close to it, so she can smell it and realize its hers. Then look her in the face and say no you don't go here you go here and show her the wee wee pad again. you can also run her to the pad when she's about to go and after she's done tell her good girl this is where you go and show her. Eventually she will get the point it just takes some time and patience. But this strategy does work, its how my mom did it. [ LilMia811's advice column | Ask LilMia811 A Question ]
FrenchFryNkatchup017 answered Tuesday December 21 2004, 8:09 am: I would go to WalMart or any other pet supply store. Ask a person @ the store or just look in the pet section for soemthing called Potty Pads. What happens is the Potty Pads have some smell in it that attract the dog into going to the bathroom there! First start by having the pad in your house, then slowly, daily, move the pad closer to the door, and give it a treat everytime that it goes to the bathroom on the pad. In about a week, you are going to end up going out the door and so will the dog!!! Good luck and make sure that you tell us how it goes!!
