lyDia_LoU answered Wednesday December 15 2004, 6:41 pm: Even if you're on birth control and the guy uses a condom there's always a chance you could get preg. But I wouldn't stress over it until you experience some signs of it. [ lyDia_LoU's advice column | Ask lyDia_LoU A Question ]

S_C answered Wednesday December 15 2004, 5:33 pm: I'm only 14, but I've been taking parent/child development this semester, and we went over this a long time ago. I can tell you birth control pills are over 95% effective and you used the condom too. But you should remember, you could always be that '5%' (I use the '' sign because I don't have the exact number) So there is ALWAYS a chance. Most likely you'll be fine, but there isn't a 100% sure fire way to tell. I'd go to planned parent hood, or to the local health department to get a test just to make sure. I assume since you're asking mostly 18+ people that you're 18+ but I could be wrong and you might just want more experienced people. If you've been taking the pill correctly it should work well, but to let you know some pills don't work to their best until 2-3 months in, because the 1st month, or 1-6 weeks your body is getting used to it and the hormone change. Good luck with that! [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]
chaos answered Wednesday December 15 2004, 4:47 pm: I would go immediately to Planned Parenthood or some clinic to see if you are pregnant. If you go tonight, they can usually give you an emergency pill. They can also test you for pregnancy. The chance is small, but real. [ chaos's advice column | Ask chaos A Question ]
mercedes answered Wednesday December 15 2004, 3:24 pm: Good choice using 2 methods ANYWAYS, (Obviously one method failed you already!)
It can't hurt to use backup. In this case, the backup failed, but you've still got "Plan A" or the pill to rely on.
The pill is reliable, and I'm sure you'll be FINE, but i do think you're making a good move using condoms too. [ mercedes's advice column | Ask mercedes A Question ]
alisonmarie answered Wednesday December 15 2004, 2:46 pm: During the first month you are on the pill, your body is adjusting and back-up protection is necessary. It's still a good idea to use condoms beyond this period - for extra protection - but if you have taken the pill the way it needs to be taken (every day at the same time), then you are probably fine.
jbdreamer answered Wednesday December 15 2004, 1:20 pm: You should be absolutly fine. The pill is a fine bith control method by it self. It just won't protect you from STD's which a condom would. But there is not any form of protection that is 100% effective. So if you are sexualy active, you should always be prepared for the concequences. mysticpixie05 answered Wednesday December 15 2004, 9:33 am: depending on the pill you are on, the effectiveness is ranged anywhere from 95% - 99%. if you have been on it a month and a half, your body has adapted to its new system. i am sure you will be fine and will have nothing to worry about. i am not saying it isnt possible for you to be, i just simply saying that the odds are very slim. superGiRL21 answered Wednesday December 15 2004, 8:52 am: i am pretty sure you will be okay. Birth control is noted to be 99% protective against pregnancy-it is just not protective against STDs-you shouldn't be too worried but if you are, there is no harm in going to visit your doctor or take a pregnancy test yourself. Good luck and i hope everything works out for you. [ superGiRL21's advice column | Ask superGiRL21 A Question ]
Daisy answered Wednesday December 15 2004, 7:26 am: No you shouldn't be worried. If you have taken all your pills correctly then you are fine. BUT if you are really worried then call a doctor up or go and see one! [ Daisy's advice column | Ask Daisy A Question ]
Gealach answered Wednesday December 15 2004, 6:45 am: Well firstly i'd just like to say good job for useing two forms of protection. So many people don't...so good job. As to your question, the bills, when taken regularly, work at about 99%. Also, it takes about a month to start working. So I would say it's rather likely you're not pregnant. However, I think you should get a pregnancy test just to ease your mind. In other words, i dont think you should be worried, but you should take the test just to completely calm yourself. Scribble answered Wednesday December 15 2004, 5:18 am: I think its really pretty unlikely, but the only way to know for sure is to get a test. At least that way you can set your mind at ease, and if the worst happens at least you'll be informed. And don't let this mess up your life, or think that this is 'punishment' for having pre-marital intercourse (as has been expressed elsehere). Accidents happen. MFS answered Tuesday December 14 2004, 11:19 pm: Depends on the birth control pills you use. I believe (pulling numbers from memory) that the pill is about 96% effective? Which means there's only a 1 in 25 chance that you could be pregnant, assuming that you've ovulated in time, and that his sperm was viable. Add to this that you're a month into use of the pill, and your body should be equilibrated to the new system. As such, I'd guess that the odds are very low. That said, it is still possible... just not very likely that you're pregnant. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
