Question Posted Tuesday December 14 2004, 10:50 pm
I am interested in purchasing a new computer for the purpose of gaming. Games im intersted in are half life 2 and Everquest 2. Id like to spend the minimum amount of money required, but id like to buy a system that is able to support these games and run them smoothly, reliably, and in good graphics. does anyone have any advice on a good cheap set up?

The comp is 200 bucks and a graphcs card is round another 200 thats the least you can spend. I reccomend a little higher up in the chain though, get a better computer, if you plan to keep playing games for a while on your comp, get a nice graphics card. I recommend and x700 or something along those lines, it runs off pci-e and i like the ati brand cards. [ shake's advice column | Ask shake A Question ]

Get a nice unit asus mother board 512or more of ram a nice 3.0-3.4 GHz processor!! um.. a good internet bandwith is important half life likes the 3Mb a sec for your internet! 128-256 Mb video card! nice monitor. If you do it right i build on about 3 months ago with all that for 1500 dollars and i did i speed test and it came out awsome!! [ buckems's advice column | Ask buckems A Question ]

MFS answered Tuesday December 14 2004, 11:22 pm: Evercrack 2 is fairly graphics intensive. For that game to look nice, you really should have a fairly beefy video card (newer GForce model or mid-to-high end Radeon). I'm not sure what sort of proc you'll need. I am not all that familiar with the needed req's for Half Life 2. In all honesty, go to the websites for both games and look up the minimum and recommended system requirements for them and then see how tough it might be to get a system to meet those specs.
