Im thinking about getting one but I dont want to waste money. I saw some reviews that were good and some that were bad. Is The scale that tells you your weight and body percentage accurate
yes, doctor scales are calibrated at least once a year. therefore, they are accurate. it really doesn't matter whether or not a scale is digital because a scale designed for extreme accuracy is still going to be wrong if it hasn't been calibrated. I have a scale for measuring the powder loads I put in my homemade ammunition- I calibrate it before use EVERY time. this is because I'm dealing with measurements that are not only extremely small(1/7,000 of a pound), but also because if I am off by just a little tiny bit, my ammunition will exceed the chamber pressure threshold of my rifle and cause a rather energetic explosion. in my face. those bathroom scales are just guidelines, not the word of God. so if you're trying to track your weight while you're on a diet, you'll have a general idea of how good you are doing. don't get a really expensive one, because thats just wasting money.

guys the top half of my body is normal and i like how i am, but the bottom half is weird. well i don't mean hips and all but i mean thighs, big thighs medium calves and big feet, i'm 10 and i am in like size 5 or 6. i feel bad about myself because some careless people that only think about themselves told me that i have fat legs and bif feet. please help i hate thinking of myself so porely, although i dont know if they just say it cause they think i'm better than them or they say it truthfully, do you have any suggestions???

i dont want my legs ripped but i want them to be toned. what work outs should i do?
mountain climbing, hiking, and walking work. or just jog, stairmaster, and ...oh what the hell is the name of that exercise... I'll describe it: either get your jogging partner to get on your back, or grab a heavy backpack, hold onto a chain link fence or something, and starting out with your feet flat on the ground, flex your calves until you are standing on your toes. relax, and repeat on a four-count until you reach 100(do it 200 times). do this at the end of your run, because it smokes the crap out of your calves.

Hey! So I was reading through stuff and saw you knew a lot about like health stuff! Well, here's the thing. Im a girl; sophomore in highschool and I've always been really small (short, thin, just all around little). At the moment I'm aaalmost 5'5, 100lbs. And I can prolly bench about as much as a four year old. It gets really old getting called "little girl" and man handled on a regular basis. But mostly I get a lot of crap for being so weak. I'm a cheerleader and I cheer year round on a state squad but I'm a flyer (the girl in the air) so I've never done much arm strength wise. Cause of cheerleading I'm pretty happy abs and legs wise but no matter what I do my arms never seem to get any stronger than what they are... Which isn't strong at all. I don't have weights at home and it's just downright embarrassing to weight lift around other people at out school gym and stuff. I take yoga and cardio boxing but I'm not happy. Can you help me? Maybe if you know certiant things I can do at home to get stronger?? And if you really suggest weight lifting then help with that too cause I don't ben know where to start? Haha or maybe just a way to get people to lay off my strength cause you sound kinda bad ass, not gonna lie. It's just really disheartening, getting made fun of, picked up, tossed around and messed with cause you're little. I mean it's mostly stupid (high school) guys who think they're hot shit and yeah people say its "flirting" but there's nothing flattering about feeling weak and helpless all the time but I don't know what else I can do at this point... uh, thanks, but I'm not a badass. I just spent six years surrounded by weightlifters and health nuts, so some of their knowledge rubbed off. the way that I started my journey from fatass to fit was through cardio, but once I shattered my leg jumping out of airplane(if you ever get the chance, go skydiving, its fun), I couldn't run anymore. so, I started working on upper body strength to compensate for the whole "walking with a cane" thing.
I started out with twenty pound weights, doing two sets of ten reps for each muscle group. every week, I'd move up in weight. I started in december 09, and by may or so, I was using 75 pound weights, albeit with a changed rep plan( 2 sets of 6 reps at 75 lbs, and 1 set of 4 reps at 85 lbs). I didn't bulk up much during the process, just got a lot stronger. something similar might work out for you. you might want to start out with ten pound weights, seeing as how you're half my size... but if you keep working at it every night, you'll see some results.
have fun, and put up with their bullshit for now, because its really fun to surprise the hell out of the haters after a few months.

Okay im 19/f , 5'6 1/2 & i weight 186. I wanna lost 25 to 30 pounds before July, is it possible to so this even if i don't exercise everyday & i eat fast food a few times a week ? yeah. cut out the fast food. now. you're asking the impossible if you want to keep eating that nasty trash. drink lots of water, cut out the garbage food, and you may be able to reasonably drop that much weight by july. and don't try that fad diet crap, you'll put the wieght right back on once you stop. your goal is to drop a pound or two a week. no more.

Which is more accurate: a dial bathroom scale or one of those manual doctor's office scales?
My bathroom scale is always 5 pounds under what the scale at the doctor's office shows I weigh. I'd prefer if my bathroom scale were more accurate, but is it really?
the scales at the doctor's office are calibrated often. its pretty hard to find one that is not dead accurate.

ok so im almost 14/m and i am in pretty good shape, cuz iv been workin out for a year. i have big arms for my age, muscular, and a pretty good body. on the bus today, this 7th grder, whos small but pretty strong for his age, as always messes with me. he was slapping me and i was just like " dude stop"tryin to block it. one of my frans said, dude hit him back, and i was like no man . eventually he stopped. i overheard my friend telling other ppl on the bus, thatim strong, i just dont know howto fight. help?
its simple. ball your hand into a fist, hold your arm out with your fist in line with your shoulder, retract, and extend with full force while throwing your body weight into it(while keeping your fist in line with your shoulder and your wrist straight). aim for the following targets: soalr plexus(spot just under your ribs), face(jaw in particular), and joints. fighting is not about being fair, its about doing maximum violence to a target to achieve the required behavior from the target. do not aim for the neck...you'll kill him if you land a punch on his throat. find a book on pressure points, its basically a how-to on beating the hell out of somebody. brazilian jujitsu is pretty fun if you're taking on one opponent... but I'm a big fan of bringing wrenches to fights.
now as to why you're fighting...I don't care. just whoop that ass if you feel a need to... and don't be afraid to pull out a taser or some other weapon, as long as you stop fucking him up after he hits the ground, you're good.

i dont know what muscle this is called so i cant search how to fix it but it is really sore, i went on a walk n tried to do stretches but nothing helped. standing it would be the back of my knee and above it, on the back though. what are some stretches or things i can do, im in training and have to be better by tomarrow, and i cant tell the instructors or they will have me sit out.
thats called a hamstring. while standing, try and touch your toes with your hands. hold for fifteen seconds, relax, and repeat. also, try going into a sauna. heat relaxes the muscles, I do it after every workout.

ok so i lift weights and stuff so i have good muscles cause my cousin is 20 and kind of like a role model to me, he does body building and i have started doing it so i have more muscles..right haha
so when i was about 11 i broke my left arm twice in the same year so i had to wear this cast up to just past my elbow and my right arm was used heaps more and now, when they are showing, my right arm has about 15 veins going up from about my wrist up to my elbow, and one going up to my shoulder and a few more going around.. ok so on my left arm there is only one or two veins going up from my wrist to my shoulder so how can i get as much veins in that arm
like what kind of exercises can i do
and i have two 5 kg weights and two 2kg weights
that i can use with this weight bench i think they are called, that i can lie down on and i have a pullup bar. its actually called perfect pullup just if you need to know. so should i do one handed pull ups but grab around my wrist with my right hand so i can actually do them

you can keep working your left arm a little more, and see results eventually, but your dominant arm gets used more often during your daily life anyways. it won't ever be totally even, because nothing in the human body is ever perfectly symmetrical.

the key to tone is high repititions, low weight. in addition, change your diet, you'll have more energy if you don't eat garbage food, and working out in combination will also help. start doing cardiovascular workouts too(running, rowing, cycling), this will help you burn fat off quite well. above all, stay hydrated. proper hydration is key to success and survival, drink water until your piss is clear, and maintain it. having to take a leak every hour or two is a good thing.

I don't have perfect body, that's for sure. I'm short. 4'9'' to be exact and have no legs. I have what are called daikon legs which are genetically chuncky looking legs which resemble large radishes called daikon. My torso's ok i guess. I have a completely flat/slightly toned stomach, am a 34C and have a 23'' waist. I'm not fat but due to my hideous legs, I don't look skinny either. My question is, are guys really looking for the hot model looking girls? the tall girls with amazing legs? I'm so self concious about my discusting legs and hear all the time "If only she had legs, she'd be hot." It's really discouraging and everytime, my self esteem ends up stooping lower and lower. So I was just wondering...do guys really care if a girl has no legs?
I don't care. if she's cute, and a cool chick, she's good. most of the dudes who do put that much into looks are shallow toolbags, and the girls they go after are usually the same. besides, thick legs are great. I've never heard of this "Daikon" crap before, but I've seen pretty much every type of legs. the only ones that are not appealing are chicken legs, but thats just because the girl wouldn't have enough stored bodyfat to have a successful pregnancy. you sound pretty hot to me.

This summer I want to lost weight. I weigh about 115. It's not bad for me. I'm 5'5. But its not muscle. I'm not fat, but I'm not skinny either. So mostly I want to look fit. I want to try to be healthier too. So any ideas what I can do? Thanks so much!
running and crunches. as for eating, stop eating all that processed shit. eat whole grain bread, celery, etc.
this will make your body work harder to get those calories.
but seriously, you're fine at that weight. you girls get obsessed with the number, its not about that. look, just get toned by working out, and the weight will redistribute. at your size, thats actually pretty close to the ideal weight. besides, healthy chicks do need some fat on them, if they don't, they'll be incapable of rearing young. and thats what it all comes down to.

I heard something in the news that the students of a big city school (Myra Bradwell Elementary School) are failing. More than half of the school is failing? How does this happen? How on EARTH can we, as parents be sure that our students, elementary and otherwise, aren't going to end up like this?
The parents there said that Myra Bradwell Elementary School sent NO warnings home that the students were struggling in their grades. The school says they did send notices. If one parent says that they didn't get a note, that is one thing, but if 60% of the parents of the student body of Myra Bradwell Elementary School say they had no warning at all, I believe them.
So, if the school itself is going to lie to us as parents, either by intent or omission, then what on Earth are we to do? Being held back a year can ruin a child's future. Imagine these 60% not being able to secure college degrees because Myra Bradwell Elementary School dropped the ball!

interesting. good thing I don't watch the news, I'd be laughing at how americans are missing the point. here's how my day went when I was a kid: I got home from school, my dad asked how I was doing, how's school, and I'd ask whats for dinner. end of story. when children are failing at something, you should be asking what you can do as a parent, maybe next time they should consider asking their kids about things at school instead of letting the little bastards get home and immediately jump in front of a bright lit screen, be it a tv or a computer. this parent as a friend thing is bullshit. parents have a bloody job to do, they're supposed to be assholes that kids hate. the only way to deal with this situation is with a cock move, teachers have phone numbers at school, if a parent is not hearing anything from a school, and actually gives a damn about their kid, they'll call, instead of sitting on their worthless ass waiting to have information crammed down their throats like a baby bird. parenting is hard, americans are lazy, this is why darwin's sticking his ass into the issue. if an animal parent left their kid to be neglected like we do, they'd die, but because we're technologically advanced, they become liberals. reality is hitting us collectively in the face like a baseball bat with a nail through it. getting held back a year doesn't ruin a child's future, just their "self esteem" as parents put it. if they really cared, they'd demand their kids get held back. I am 17, and only around 5'2, with frustrating belly fat. I think I look pretty good, but I need to tone my legs and arms and start working towards a flat stomach.
I haven't been on an official diet, but I do cut down on sweets, grease, and junk food. I like to eat things like blueberries, yogurt, or applesauce, and I don't drink soda. I don't have a big appetite, so I eat small meals which means I eat more snacks.
I usually walk about half a mile with my dogs in the morning or evening. The only exercise equipment we own is a stationary bike and, no, there isn't a convenient gym around here. I can't get outside a lot in the summer when it's hot; the sun makes me absolutely sick. Still, I need to get active somehow...
I'm just looking for tips... Snack ideas, excercise suggestions, or anything else that can help me fit in my jeans better.
the key is proper hydration. drink lots of water, even when you're not thirsty. my favorite comes with barley and hops...
seriously though, that stationary bike would be awesome for your legs, light dumbbells can be found at any sports store, even wal mart. just use the light ones to build tone and endurance.
also, my health guru buddy in 2nd ranger Battalion told me once that eating six times a day, with really light portions, speeds up your metabolism.
just staying hydrated will speed up your metabolism. one easy way to tell is if your piss is clear, you're hydrated properly.

so take some truck stop amphetamines instead, you can buy them at any convenience store. they're about ten times as powerful, and you won't be able to sleep for six hours after ingestion, but they work great!
