Swimming. Your legs won't get ripped unless you do a lot of weight work. It also helps taper the legs and torso without making them look bulky.

There is also jogging, but that can be hard on your joints, especially the knee and back. You can always run in a pool, too, which is much more low impact.

Or you can walk a couple of miles a day. That will do it, too.

I think you should try mixed martial arts training and take some sort of formal dance classes. Seriously.

You can build some muscle with martial arts but tone out your legs by doing dance. But additional jogging/running routines should help with building cardio.

I'm making these suggestions because I went to a performing arts school and knew guys who did both that have lean and toned figures.

Of course, they work out almost everyday to maintain their physique in order to perform. But that doesn't mean that just because your aim isn't to perform dance concerts or to do MMA competitions should exclude your from getting a good work out. You could really learn how to build muscle with MMA workouts and get toned with dance classes.

An alternative or additional form of exercise activities... is get a bicycle or find an indoor cycling class. This should help with cardio and is definitely for the legs.

Good luck with creating your own work out routine.

mountain climbing, hiking, and walking work. or just jog, stairmaster, and ...oh what the hell is the name of that exercise... I'll describe it: either get your jogging partner to get on your back, or grab a heavy backpack, hold onto a chain link fence or something, and starting out with your feet flat on the ground, flex your calves until you are standing on your toes. relax, and repeat on a four-count until you reach 100(do it 200 times). do this at the end of your run, because it smokes the crap out of your calves.
good luck
