the key to tone is high repititions, low weight. in addition, change your diet, you'll have more energy if you don't eat garbage food, and working out in combination will also help. start doing cardiovascular workouts too(running, rowing, cycling), this will help you burn fat off quite well. above all, stay hydrated. proper hydration is key to success and survival, drink water until your piss is clear, and maintain it. having to take a leak every hour or two is a good thing.

Obviously, squats are a great start. You can also do wall sits. They kills, but they will give you results.

Also, try Seventeen magazines website. They had a section this month about toning your butt, and I think they have a ton of work outs on their site. :)

squats

the super man - lay on the ground on your stomach, lift your legs (and arms if you want)
for a bigger challege, chop your feet and arms while lifting them.

bicycling

wall sits- put your back up against a wall and sit like you are sitting on a chair (without the chair of course)

mountain climbers- get into pushup possition, then keep moving your legs (without moving your body) in a fast pace like you are running or climbing up a mountain

stool jumps- take an object (such as a stool) which is low enough for you to be able to jump on, yet high enough for it to challenge you. make sure it is secured to the ground, and use both your legs to jump on the stool and then jump off.

running up stairs/down stairs

dont know what this is called, but lay on your back, and lift up your legs. for a harder challenge, move your legs around in the air while lifting them. it helps if you spell out names or objects. for example: spell out (your name) with your legs, it sounds silly, but it really works, trust me!

Hope this helps, good luck!!!!!

Do squats for your buns and thighs... Sounds stupid but it works, man. Lunges work well for your buns as well... and running or walking or hiking is grand for your thighs.
