about

Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. This site helped me a LOT when I was in high school and had a lot of questions, and I'm here to help anyone who needs it :) Feel free to write in my forum or send me a question any time!

Hi, i am a female junior high school b ball player and i was wondering...Ive always wanted to get recruited and play at a (small) division 1 b ball school.... but what do you think about me not going to college for sports....like have you ever heard of a great high school player that didn't move on? i meant i almost have my 1000 points and i averaged 22pts last season and i just feel like i should be playing college b ball....what do you think?

EDIT: Sorry, you said "i am a female junior high school b ball player" so I assumed that by the typing and phrasing, you were saying you were in junior high, not a junior in high school. Either way, if you were going to play in college, you'd know by now. Your chances aren't great if you haven't already been scouted. [/edit]

We've had a few great players on my high school basketball team, and they all play in college, but none of them play on any big teams...

They play in places such as Salem and NC AT&T... (We live in NC).

However, there is an amazing sophomore and an awesome junior who have had scouts looking at them for what seems like years - they're getting looked at by places like UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University - even though those places are mostly popular with boys basketball, they still have an amazing bball program.

It all depends on your skill, what high school you attend (is basketball popular there? Will scouts know about the school?), and how hard you work towards the goal and how badly you want it.

You're only in junior high! If you make varisty your freshman year, then start talking to your coaches. If you make varsity your sophomore year, talk to your coaches. If you don't make varisty until your junior year, don't expect much - you aren't as good as you think.

Once you start playing high school ball, talk to you coaches about where they think you are and if they think you've got a shot at playing college and even pro.

There are always people who play in high school and don't make it in college or beyond, it's all up to your skill, your ambition, your drive, and your willingness to WORK!
Good luck.
