my puppy keeps biting people! he's a two year old doberman pincher, and he's absolutely adorable! but he has this problem with biting. he's made all my friends terrified of him, and the elderly lady across the street had to have stitches (which i had to pay for) when brownie bit her face. (just her cheek) i love him to death, and he hasn't bitten me since he was 6 months old, but i don't know if i should keep him if he's going to attack everyone he meets!

I despise people that laugh about praising an animal for biting an old lady, and then give poor ratings for good advice about the dog being out of control.

I have news for you... your dog is out of control if he bites a lady for trying to take her own son away from him. He is an aggressive and dangerous dog and deserves to be in a home where someone will actually train him to be a nice dog.

I hate it when people teach there dog that it's ok to be aggressive and bite other people. Especially high risk dogs like doberman pinchers.

Read on. Maybe you'll actually learn something. I do hope I've caught your attention this time.

You have a serious problem. You should probably talk to an animal behavoralist for help with this.

Doberman Pinchers are very powerful, and if you let a doberman bite someone, then they can inflict serious harm.

You should start by watching your dog at all times. Do not ignore the fact that he will probably bite. Do not let strangers come up to him, and do not tell someone that he's nice just because you don't want people to think that your dog is mean. You need to first accept the fact that you do not have a sweet adorable puppy right now. You have a full grown aggressive and very dangerous dog.

By being aware of the situation, you can then work on fixing it.

Read through my column. If you sort the answers by the topic of "Pets" then you can find many long answers on how to work with aggressive animals.

I found one good example:

If you do not help your dog get over his aggression, then he will soon need to be euthanized. If he is too much for you to handle, then you should put an ad in the paper for someone who has the patience to teach an aggresive dog. He is going to need constant care right now.

Don't say things like, "he only bit the old lady on her cheek"

Do not try to make your dog seem nice by saying he "only" bit her on her cheek. You need to see your dog for what he is if you really want to help him.

If you try to ignore the problem, then he will never get better and will eventually need to be euthanized.

If you need more help, then send me another question and I may be able to help more.
