Q: i get pimples on my chin. gross i know. but they are like under the skin and hurt like a bitch. is it best to just leave them alone. or should i get the crap out of them quickly. and what can i do so i stop getting them. i dont get pimples anywhere else.

if you start popping them, if its a pimple, you might get the puss all over your face and then not only is it yucky lol but you will also get pimples all over your face. you should see a dermatologist and maybe he/she could tell you the best thing that you could do or you could get a facial. i had a little bit of acne on my nose. it wasn't that bad but when i touched it with my own hands it felt it there and it is kind of annoying. but, i got this thing for my face that is from Israel and i put it on my nose and it has gotten so much amazingly better. the product is "dead sea beauty" and it is like brown and it really really helps. try searching it online

Q: I just got braces three days ago [I had them before when I was in second grade] However, I'm in intense pain! I can't eat anything, even soft foods like soft taco's hurt like crazy, and pasta! I'm on Tylenol, I ice my mouth several times a day, I use the bite plate they gave me, and I put on Orajel. But it still hurts so bad, What should I do?

ohh my goodness, sweetie, i'm sorry you're braces are hurting you that much. i have never had braces but it sounds like i don't want to have braces either. lol. even though i've never had them, i still know that they could be a pane. I suggest that for a few days, you should stick to soups. putting ice on your cheeks, right outside your teeth might help a little. i also suggest taking advil. i think it works a little bit better than tylenol sometimes because i think tylenol's specialty is more for fevers and maybe more like muscular pains. But, advil works for disinflamitory also. drink plenty of water though and i hope that you fee better and that your teeth feel better also haha. =)

Q: This has been confusing me for awhile. People tell me I'm pretty all the time. And when I go to camp or leave my town, the guys all want me. But when I'm home, it seems like they want nothing to do with me. Guys also have said I'm hot and whatever, but why do they not make a move? I'm so confused and so sick of people saying, your pretty and me not getting any guys. Why do you think this is?

i'm sure that you are very pretty and sometimes guys just get intimidated around shy girls, especially these guys from your town, that know you. like when the guys from camps and stuff met you they were like "oh she's pretty, let me go for it" but these guys you know are like "oh she's pretty and i know that she's super sweet.. etc etc" and they just get intimidated. show them that you are not going to reject them. they are afraid of rejection, but they don't know if you are going to reject them or not, so be a flirt. maybe their just tense. loosen them up. haha

Q: I have about 3 light, small scars on my face from acne about 6 months ago. Two are in the same spot, on my cheek, ones on my chin. Is there any scar medication or something you could reccomend that would get rid of these? I hate having to cover them with foundation, I'd rather save that for my pimples, haha. Thank you.

Q: What are some good ideas to do on a date.
For like tongiht, a normal friday night, kinda warm out side. But nothing too expensive?

dinner at a fun restaurant. you could watch a movie if you want (the most popular thing to do haha) but, if you want to do something different, you should get a bite to eat, go the like the arcade or something, walk through the park, or the beach idea was also good. have fun

Q: next month im turning 16 and i want to have a really sweet party. I live on a lake and i have a big back yard, i just dont want it to be a lot of people just standing around not having any fun...soo what are some good ideas to make sure that people are having fun?

well, i think it should be like a choice for the pool party. like you can tell them to bring their swim suits if they want and have a lot of food, music, decorations, and invite a lot of people

Q: what can i say to my boyfrind if he being a real bitch to me

tell him to watch himself because you shouldn't have to be treated like that. if you put your foot down, he'll respect you more. i like the first one haha. but, don't say it too mean just be firm with him. i'm sure that if he sees you're not going to put up with it, he'll get his act together and be a soldier

Q: There is this guy named Thomas that I really like. We are pretty good friends, and he's really nice. He's athletic, funny, nice, cool, fun, kinda cute, and everything I want. But I have recently realized that I like him more than a friend. I'm almost positive that he likes me, too. And when he is driving down the road, he makes a point to stop his truck, just to say hi, and if I'm walking past his house, he comes out side, sometimes in just boxers to say hi, and give me a hug. But there is two problems, #1- He is 16 and I am only 13, and #2- He has slept with half the girls in our Jr/Senior High School. What do I do???

age doesn't seem to matter here. the age difference is not so huge. don't let the thing about the girls bother you unless he is still that way. but, that happened in the past, and this is the present. lol. so, i think that there's no problem here. just go for it. age doesn't mean anything here

Q: okay i have this "best" friend that i have been friends with for such a long time. well in the middle of the school year i really liked but he started liking her. even though she knew i liked him she would still hang out with him and kiss him & everything even though she did have a boyfriend that she claimed to be in "love" with. well her & her boyfriend broke up cause he started liking our other friend and my "best" friend cried and when i told her that it was basically the same thing she did to me but our other friend wasnt interested in her ex, she told me to fuck off.. i never trusted her but i still hang out with her. well i got over that i guess and now me and this kid jake are together but now going out. i REALLY like him and i know he really likes me too. we always hang out and i lost my virginity to him. but yesterday my "best" friend told my other friend shelby "jakes cute..hes definantly a cutie..i'd go out with him if i didnt have a boyfriend." she didnt say anything about me liking him. and i didnt tell her i lost my virginity to him. she knows he likes me too and when i confronted her about it there was a long pause and she was like "no if i didnt have a boyfriend. i'd go out with kid mark.. but i only said that to make my boyfriend mad.." then there was another pause and she was like "i dont like jake" i dont know if i can trust her around him. i know that he wouldnt do anything cause he's such a nice guy but i dont know. what should i do about her? i told jake what she said and all he said was "she's dumb" or something like that. and i dont think he thinks anything of her cause he started kissing me in front of her when she came over last night. so what should i do?

this girl seems like a real slut! if you see that she is trying to do anything, then i think you should take a stand and tell her that she is just so insecure of herself, that she has to mess with other people just to get a kick out of it. tell her to get a life. but, as for now, i think that she just wants you to be worried. she probably enjoys it and gets pleasure out of watching other people worry. if she does, take a stand. but so, pretend that she's not bothering you. maybe she'll lay off

Q: When I put a picture on the computer and I try and put it on myspace, it always says it's too big. So when I use the program they offered called Irfanview it never works! it always says it's too big whenever i make it smaller. Basically, what I'm asking is, what websites would make my pictures smaller so I can load them onto Myspace?

you might not have to use a website. if it's just one picture, here's what you can do. go to "my pictures" right click then click edit. if it takes you to paint, click image and click i believe it's the first one and then resize it from there. i usually do it 50-50 and if that's still too big i do 48-48. if you want it smaller, you can also make it smaller

i'm not sure if photobucket does, but i think imageshack does resize the pictures for you

Q: Ok so it was my birthday yesterday and my friend H brought this guy to my birthday, S. She told me he respect women, he's a really nice guy et cetera because I just got out of a painful relationship about a few months ago and I've been trying to move on. But I told my best friend A that if I didn't think there was any chemistry, she should try to see if she should go for him..
A and I have been tight forever and just three weeks ago she kept bringing home this guy who she really liked and I used to back off and give them privacy. But then he moved away so she was a little depressed and she said she wasn't sure if she wanted another guy.
So I met S and he was really hot and really sweet so I told pretty much all my friends I was into him and maybe it could work out.
So me and A practically spent the whole night with S. I danced with him and my friend K for an hour and she was kind of following him around after and making sure he didn't fall over drunk. Then he went outside to have a smoke and A and I left. Then he texted A and said someone had to keep him company so she was going to text back that *I* was going to come down. At that point, I was pretty down because it was 4 AM and I was like "I don't think he's interested", then A looked up at me and she's like "I'm sorry, honey... but I think he said he would do me because while you and me were talking E (this other guy) asked him or something like it, I'm not sure and he harsh thought I wasn't listening so he said yeah" so I was like ok...? And I told her to go keep him company because he was a nice guy and he was good for her so she looked at me all sad-like and she's like "No... no, I can't. It's your birthday" and I insisted and she said no and asked what she should text him with if I wasn't going down. She then about five seconds later she looked into the mirror and she's like "my mascara is running but I guess he'll have to deal with that" and she's like "I guess I'll go chat with him a little bit" and internally I was like wth? but by that time he had come upstairs and was sitting on the couch so we both went and talked to him till early hours of the morning. While he was talking to us, he was also texting this girl who he said he met last night and she wouldn't stop talking and now wouldn't stop texting and he kept texting back because he was drunk and she was sending pictures of herself and he was showing E and being like wth?.
And this morning, we were talking about him and A is like "Oh my god, do you remember when S texted me, it was so hot" and I was just like ok what just happened here?
Now, I'm not sure if S is interested or not. Even if he was, he was pretty drunk. I'm not even sure if he said that he would do A and now I think she's totally into him, she kept pointing out stuff they had in common last night to him. Am I getting this wrong but I was supposed to have a shot? She always jumps onto every available guy nearby and usually it amounts to nothing but I really like this guy I don't think I had enough of a chance to get to know him yet even because we were so all over the place last night and she pretty much just bluntly told me that she was going to go for him. What happened to chicks before dicks?

i can understand where you are coming from because it's probably not just like "oh, we both like the same guy." it's more like, she wants everyone for herself, and she's taking this chance away from you when you probably have real feelings or have real interest in him. i think that you need to sit down with this guy and tell him "listen, it was really nice meeting you the other night. maybe we can hang out some time and get better aquainted because it's hard to find good people to hang out with these days." that way you can be flirting but not giving completely in to him at the same time so you keep him guessing, and you're friend can't say that you did anything bad because you didn't like tell him "oh we're going on a date" you just mentioned that you guys should hang out. see what i mean?

sometimes friends can be our worst enemies, and that is the way it is at all ages with all girls. i think that real friends do exist and we have to find them wisely, but we also have to be very careful, because people tend to put themselves first. so, you don't have to be straight out with your friend that you are close to about this. you can just simply be like "did you have a good time at my party?" and then ask "so what about that guy you were talking to, do you think there is something going on?" and then get her perspective about what she thinks of him. then ask about all the other guys and if she still has feelings for any of them. that way maybe she will get the hint that these other guys haven't really been important to her. maybe she will say that this time it's different or something

my suggestion though is that you go for it. i know that she's your friend and everything. but if she is, you owe it to her to tell her the truth and if you really like this guy, you should be able to have the oppertunity to have a chance. and find out more about him, see if he's the guy you think he is and if he sounds like someone that you want to be with before you're friend finds out you like him. my advice is get to know him, and if you like him, go for it

Q: I like G. for one month...He is really nice to me...And we always hug each other kiss each other and we act like we are together...My friends and his friends think that we are together..I think i am beautiful because boys think that..Yesterday was like every day..We were hugging each other and we were on his motorcycle...We were "touching" each other A LOT..Like only couples do...And then he would drive me home..We were on his motorcycle when he turned and we were so close and we kissed each other...It happened and i was happy about that..I am...But we are not together..He didn't ask me to be with him or something like this...Today everything fine..Without touching and kiss(lips)..I really want to be with him..It is the first time i like a boy THAT much...What should i do to be with him???He is a really good guy...We know each other 1 year but only this last months things are that "good"..What should i do to be with him apart from asking him out???P.S.(When he were hugging each other i heard his heart which was beating really quickly...)

well, i think that you guys kind of are together. does someone really have to ASK to make it official? because it sound pretty official to me :)

but, if you are curious as of how he feels about this, bring up the topic of couples and go from there. it's kind of hard not to talk about it if you are on the topic

Q: I'm 13 and obviously female and this afternoon I started getting cramps. At first I thought it was just a stomach ache and maybe I ate too much, but it felt kind of different. My mom suggested that I was going to get my period soon, and I already had boobs, hair on my body, and discharge. 3 hours later, when I went to the bathroom I noticed a big dried up brownish spot on my underwear. There wasn't alot of it but it wasn't liquid. Could this be my period? I don't know because people tell me the very first time you get your period you dont have cramps and you don't get cramps until like the 2nd or 3rd time. I didn't feel any blood coming out either. Not to gross you out, but in a way it looks like dried up poop but in a really light brown color.

there's a good chance that that's what it might be. and it is possible to get cramps before. i had really bad cramps the first time in my lower back, but it's different for everybody

Q: I think one of my friends might have stolen my camera when she visited us on vacation. I asked her to put it in her purse, because I didn't have mine with me. She has already gone back, but the last thing I remember was giving her my camera. I called her, and have been harrasing her, even trying to guilt her about it. I even went to the store we went into that day, but NO ONE has seen it. What should I do? It's been about a month, and my parents won't let me get another one because its my fault its gone.

you should call her parents and ask them if she has it. it's not fair that you can't buy another one when she took it!

Q: im 17/f and i have been with my bf (17/m) for almost 6 months. we are completely in love and very serious. this was MY idea just to clear it up.
being that we are going to be so serious and before we nkow it even living together ..i figure we are still young and many people make the mistake of marrying a high school sweetheart without exploring other people. so my idea is for our 6 months we each get sexual with another person. do you know anyone who has done this? how did it work out? whenever i think about him with somenoe else its so weird! and the same for him thinking about me with someone else. this can really bring us to be a lot more open and trusting..but im also afraid i might feel hurt..thinking about another girl pleasing him and making love to him kinda gets me upset..but then i think how i will get the same thing so i feel better..i guess right now i am 50/50. what do you think about my idea..being with someone else for a day?

i don't think that marrying your high school sweetheart without exploring other people is a bad idea. obviously if you marry them, then it's because you love them and you don't feel the need to explore other people. i think that if you two love each other so much, then you shouldn't spend this special day or celebrate it with other people. you should be celebrating it with each other, togther

Q: Hey my name is michelle and iam 36 years old and my son who is autistic is always spending the night at my mom's house and he never wants to come home and i miss him what should I do?

well, make sure that you assure you're son of how much you love him and that you want to spend time with him. tell him that you have a suprise for him for when he gets home. make fun things for him to do. i don't know how old he is, but if he's very young, like a toddler, do things like building a tent out of blankets and have like a "camping trip" in there with video games and everything. if he's older, there's still a lot of fun things to do with older kids/teenagers. play cards with him, tell jokes

Q: ok here's my problem i cant stop applying chapstick/ lipblam whatever you want to call it. if i go more than an hour without it i feel like im going crazy. so is chapstick actually addictive or am i just obssesed with the cherry goodness?

yes. chapstick is addictive! they had a lecture about it at my school. they even told us that there is a lipbalm's anyonymous. lol. and our class saw it on the internet! i know it's silly/funny. but, it's true. we looked it up!

Q: I'm a 14F going into highschool and I'm BARELY 5'1"!! Are there any special foods/excercises that could make me grow?

well, u might be able to get growth hormone shots if you haven't gone through puberty yet. if you have, it depends when. if you went thruogh you very young like me (im 15, i got it when i was 9), there might be some trouble. really there's nothing you can do other than that. you could talk to the doctor about the growth hormones, but i wouldn't recomend them. i don't think anybody should mess with growth hormones. but don't worry. i'm a sophmore and i'm not evem 5 feet tall. i'm like 4"10 1/2. dont worry about it. good things come in small packages

I started this column when I was 15 years old, so you'll notice that the advice has gotten better and better. I've always been interested in counseling and I started this column to gain experience. But, I found a lot more than that. I found a support system of caring and loving people. I received a degree in child development and currently working towards becoming a school psychologist. So, I hope you can feel confident in trusting me with your questions. This is more than just a fun site for me. I look back on my own questions from years ago, and I laugh when I read about my problems at 16. I've really come a long way! I'm relatively young, but I've had several experiences in life that have aided me in helping others. I hope to use those experiences for the greater good and help others who are not in their ideal situation!
