i get pimples on my chin. gross i know. but they are like under the skin and hurt like a bitch. is it best to just leave them alone. or should i get the crap out of them quickly. and what can i do so i stop getting them. i dont get pimples anywhere else.
Production of oil (sebum) in abnormal quantities;
Improper shedding of dead skin cells;
Buildup of the bacteria.
When the hair follicles are blocked by oil or dead skin cells, chin pimples can begin to develop. Each follicle is linked to a sebaceous gland. The substance that is produced by these glands is called sebum and has the role to oil the hair and the skin. This substance is transferred along the hair shafts and passes through the hair follicle in order to reach on the epidermis. If the quantity of sebum exceeds the normal limits or if dead skin cells are produced excessively, the hair follicle gets blocked and a soft plug is created.
A bulged hair follicle leads to a whitehead, while a darkened plug turns into a blackhead. Infection or inflammation of the blocked hair follicles precedes the appearance of the pimples. On the other hand, hair follicles that are inflamed deep inside produces some bumps under the skin named cysts.
Hormonal changes, bacteria, heredity and several drugs seem to influence the overproduction of sebum. However, the precise cause has not been discovered yet, but studies are still conducted in this direction.
Scrubbing the skin may lead to irritations that cause the acne to become worse.
While the hereditary factors or the hormonal changes that lead to chin pimples and acne cannot be influenced, other factors can be controlled in order to prevent this skin problem. These factors are:
Exposure to cosmetics or oily products that harm the skin;
Irritation of the skin and pressure that is provoked by cell phones, helmets, backpacks or tight collars.
Looking for cosmetics of a higher quality is certainly a way to prevent chin pimples from appearing.
The hormonal changes that precede acne are present in:
Teenagers, regardless of the gender;
Females, a few days before their menstrual cycle;
Patients that follow treatments that are based on certain drugs, such as cortisone.

idontknow12 answered Wednesday August 2 2006, 6:59 am: first of all, don't pop it, not only could it lead to infections or hurt more. it can leave scars on your chin. which aren't cute either. also, get some kind of acne ointment. if you go to your doctor they will know whats best for your skin and your body. and if its just in that area you can even get come kind of cream or ointment that you can put on just your chin. they also have pills you can take but the doctor might no think that those are best for you and your case. Id say just get a medicine or something, [ Clearisil works great ] or go to the derm. Hope I helped, sorry if I didnt. [ x_C010rMyW0r1d's advice column | Ask x_C010rMyW0r1d A Question ]
amy_xoo answered Wednesday August 2 2006, 2:10 am: this is a great question to ask. i have acne too and i know what your going through. what you should do is just not pick at it and wash it twice a day , morning and night , regularly. you also might want to order proactive because just in case you might start getting pimples other places on your face, this will help it, and your chin too. if you dont want to get the proactive, you could go to the storre and buy an over-the-counter acne cleanser (clean & clear, neutrogena, etc.) when you wash your chin, dont scrub it. just gently rub the cream over it and then gently rinse. the rougher you are on your chin, the more the pimples will stick out. and throughout the day, it may be tempting, but dont touch it because even if you may have just washed your hands, there is still dirt on the that could get to the pimples and make them worse if you touch your pimples. i hope i helped! BLONDShorty answered Wednesday August 2 2006, 1:50 am: if you start popping them, if its a pimple, you might get the puss all over your face and then not only is it yucky lol but you will also get pimples all over your face. you should see a dermatologist and maybe he/she could tell you the best thing that you could do or you could get a facial. i had a little bit of acne on my nose. it wasn't that bad but when i touched it with my own hands it felt it there and it is kind of annoying. but, i got this thing for my face that is from Israel and i put it on my nose and it has gotten so much amazingly better. the product is "dead sea beauty" and it is like brown and it really really helps. try searching it online
LM answered Wednesday August 2 2006, 1:16 am: Put a hot facecloth over them, them gently squeeze all the stuff out of them. Then put a spot treatment over the area (it'll sting, but it'll help). If the problem gets really out of control, see a dermatologist. Also, since you only get pimples in one area, it's possible you're missing that spot washing your face. TheHeadHonchoPoncho57 answered Wednesday August 2 2006, 1:10 am: Squeeze all the puss out of them. Then, put some sort of Acne treatment over it.
Hun, I'm sorry to say this, but pimples are just something you'll have to grow out of. The best thing to do is avoid getting any oil on your face, or it will get worse. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables and less carbs will make your skin less oily. And don't eat any meat with growth hormones in it. That will make you break out big-time. You might be able to find an Acne Prevention treatment at your drugstore... [ TheHeadHonchoPoncho57's advice column | Ask TheHeadHonchoPoncho57 A Question ]
