Hey, I'm Samm and I'm 15-year-old freshman at Downingtown East High School. I've got a pretty average teenage life, except I'm in no way your average person. I doubt you'll ever meet someone exactly like me.



Feel free to drop one by in my inbox and I'll tell you what to do to the of my best ability in any situation. But remember, if it doesn't seem right, then don't do it. It's only my advice, not me telling you what to do.


PLEASE don't repeat questions. I appreciate all ratings and feedback, so please do it. It really gives me a good feel for how my advice is. Also, if you don't rate, and my advice is crap, I'd like to know so that I don't run the risk of telling someone to do that again.

wats the best way to scrunch ure hair? thnks in advance!

It depends whether or not you have a natural curl (or even just a natural wave) to your hair.

If you have a natural curl/wave, than you wet your clean hair at night, don't dry it, but make sure it's not dripping wet, brush it down in the part that you want it in, and put in a fairly small amount of mousse in your hair because you don't want your hair to be crunchy, you want it to have a natural flow. I use Samy Mucho Mousse and it works fabulously. To put in the mouse, you put a glob in the center of your palm, rub your hands together, and ease it out of your hand applying with your fingers, NOT YOUR PALM! You want your hair to be locky, not one solid thing. If you find that it isn't curling so great, turn your head upside down and put all of your hair in a messy bun on the top of your head with a thin elastic. (When you're doing that, your hair should still be damp. If it's not, spray it with water) DO NOT BRUSH YOUR HAIR AFTER THE MOUSSE IS IN YOUR HAIR! IF YOU BRUSH CURLS, IT'LL TOTALLY RUIN THEM!

If you don't have a natural curl/wave to your hair, the procedure isn't that much different, but you need more time in the morning. I would give yourself a good hour. (No, it doesn't take an hour. You need that hour for it to start drying) You wet your clean hair in the morning, don't dry it, but make sure it's not dripping wet, brush it down in the part that you want it in, and put in a fairly good glob of mousse in your hair because your hair kinda has to be a little crunchy. Once again, Samy Mucho Mousse will work great. To put in the mouse, you put a glob in the center of your palm, rub your hands together, and ease it out of your hand applying with your fingers, NOT YOUR PALM! You want your hair to be locky, not one solid thing. Once the mousse is in, put three mini messy buns in your head (one on the left and right side and one in the back) and make sure the buns are as close to your part as possible. Leave the buns in for an hour and you should be good. DO NOT BRUSH YOUR HAIR AFTER THE MOUSSE IS IN YOUR HAIR! IF YOU BRUSH CURLS, IT'LL TOTALLY RUIN THEM!

13/f. i have hair thats to my shoulders. it sits right on them. its dark dark brown, almost black. and everyday i either wear it in a pony tail or straightened down [i have a chi straightener]. could someone please, please, give me more hair styles so i wont be so plain. thanks!

I understand that brown hair can get extremely boring. So liven it up! Throw some lighter brown highlights in there. Don't worry about getting your whole head done, partials are enough. As for every day styles? You don't want to all of a sudden come in one day and be like BAM with your hair, so try doing half up, half down. When you do this, make it either all straight, bottom hanging straight with a curly pony tail, all curly, the pony tail into a flippy bun... You can do tons of things. Then you can do the middle section of your hair up (like 1/4 of your hair) and the rest down completely straight. Since your hair is long, you can do a side pony tail either straight or curly. You can straighten your whole head, and then just curl four, five, six strands on the top layer. You could make your whole head curly. There are tons of things to do, just experiment!

Guys like big, comfy sweatshirts. Guys also like stuff they can use, like DVD's, movies, games (if they have Xbox or Playstation or whatever), and music. Also, if you've been dating him for awhile, make sure that you write him a big long note.

Well, since you two have talked about it, you've taken the first step. He probably isn't using you, he may just be a little horny! Give the guy a break! But if you really just don't feel up to it, hang out with him in public places, and not at his house/your house/where ever else you may have sex. If you talk to him about it too many times, he's going to get pissed, so take actions.

For Christmas I was thinking about doing this 'Christmas Break Survival Box' for my boyfriend [ALONG WITH OTHER PRESENTS] and I was needing some help on what to put in it. I already have:
1. [Hersey's] Kisses and Hugs- for whenever we're not together you can still receive them.
2. A CD- for whenever you're on the road and not with me.

I know it's not a lot so far, but I wanted to think really hard and make this really cute. I needed ideas like the hersey's kisses one where it's like a play on words and the kisses mean real kisses. You get it? I need more ideas like that. Have any?

It's great to get to know a guy first because it makes the whole situation of getting to know each other better and easier. Then once you really know him, you'll know if you really like him. But, if you don't really know each other first, it makes good small talk. Either way works out.

I'm 13 at LMS in 8th grade. I'm a lesbian and don't know how to come out. I have crushes on other girls. I get really turned on in school. What should I do?

Wow, well, coming out when you're 13 years old at our school is going to be tough, I'm not going to lie. The thing is, you don't really have to "come out". I mean, what difference does it honestly make? You're still the same person you've always been, you just happen to like girls. So? If anyone, you should come out to your parents. Pick out a time when they are together, in a fairly good mood, and you're in private. Pick a time like dinner, but not Christmas or Hannukah or whatever else you may celebrate.

If I were you, I wouldn't talk to this strange man until you talk to your mother. I know she isn't around much, but don't talk to this guy alone. Ever. But if this guy is really your father, you have to get your mom, a friend's parent, and get to know him. Make sure you inform your mom that your "father" came.

Well.. basically.. you have to exercise. Cruches, running, dancing.. whatever floats your boat. And then dieting.. you don't really get to chose where the fat comes off.. but you might lose it where you want to (and any other trouble areas). So basically, burn more calories than you intake. That's the key.

I am 13 and in 8th grade and have never had a boyfriend. I think I'll be able to manage one better when I get to high school. Is it a turn-off to guys if you've never had a boyfriend before? I need to know, thanks.

For some guys, yeah it is a turn-off. But other guys like to have a girl who is inexperienced so that he can look like an expert. Guys who think it's a turn-off think along the lines of "she definately won't get in bed with me." And some guys really don't give a sh!t.

i'm dying my hair red. what is a good kind of dye to use? my sister is going to do it. and it needs to be inexpensive from walmart.

Red hair is the best! I wish (naturally) had red hair. The only thing is that red is DANGEROUS and is capable of coming out TERRIBLE. So you have to be realllllly careful. I would try to do a temporary dye first. COLOR PULSE IS CRAP AND THE COLORS ARE INTENSE, so don't use it unless you want intense hair. Loving Care by Clairol is good for about a weeks worth of hair color, and Natural Instincts by Clairol is good for about a month. I think Clairol is the best brand, but that's just me.

Right smack in between my eyes is this big bump!! It's not a pimple because I can see that it doesn't have pus in it. Its only red because I have been picking at which I have agreed to stop doing. I'm putting medicine on it and nothing is working!! I talked to my mom and asked her to take me to a derm but she thinks its just a big pimple! I read somewhere that it could be mila. If it is how can you get rid of them without going to a derm???

I completely foget what they're called... but try to follow me. Is it just a raised bump on your face, the same color as your skin (no red, whitehead, blackhead)? If so than it's a [insert correct word here]. It's basically a collection of dead skin cells on your face. There's not much you alone can really do about it, but if you go to the dermo I think they can give you medications/get it off. In the meanwhile, exfoliate your face weekly. It should help the dead skin layers to be removed from your face.

Uh-oh.. This could get sticky. Does your friend know that you like him? Because you have to let her know, otherwise she might think you're stealing him from her. Basically, make sure you two vow to not let this guy get in between your friendship. If she gets him, be genially happy for her. If you get him, don't rub it in her face. But, hey... Instead of battling it out, why don't you look for a new guy?

on december 26, a new family is moving in to the house next door to mine. my mom talked to their realtor (another neighbor) and found out that the family will have a 3 yr. old and a 5 yr. old. by the way, I'm 13.
the question that i have is, how long should i wait before i introduce myself, and how should i do it? i really want to babysit for them, and i work really well with little kids. i've never worked for pay before, just as favors for my aunt (with kids age 2 and 7) so im not really sure what to charge either.
i know this is really long, and has a bunch of different questions. but any answers will be appreciated to the tone of a 5! thanks in advance!

Introduce yourself to them the day after they've moved in (the 27th) so that you give them time to settle in a little. When you see the kids, show how great you are with kids. Of course, compliment the parents on how cute they are and how much you loveee kids. Then, you should bake them a nice tray of cookies or something and give it to them on the 29th so that you're not bombarding them. And anytime you see them, make sure that you're up for a good chat. They'll catch on.

I feel so depressed. I feel as if everyone in my life is moving on. I feel as tho I have no friends I spend my saturdays doing nothing, i feel as tho everyone hates me and Ive thought about sucide.
I have an incurable skin disease its so ugly and difiguring and the only cure for it is sunlight. I live in a cold place and my mum wont let me use tanning beds even tho thats the only cure.
I havnt got a boyfriend, and I dont trust anyone. I cant teell anyine about my skin disease. I feel so ugly and gross all the time. PLEASE HELP!!

You're probably at that age where you just feel like crap. Maybe you need a different approach with your mom and the tanning beds. Your mom would probably feel more comfortable with you going to a dermo instead of tanning beds. And as for having no friends, I'm sure that's untrue. You just can't be so picky with who you hang out with. As for now, chin up! Stop focusing on your appearance and you will honestly feel so great about yourself. Last year was THE WORST year of my life, but this year I've been SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better as I realize all that I have. You should do the same.

Just yesterday I got my first period, and I'm unsure how to tell my mom, or if it's even neccessary. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I just don't know how to tell her this because she's not one of the cool moms that are easy to talk to, and I'm the youngest of four, at 13, and I just want a way to tell my mom.

Youngest of four.. well, if you have an older sister, you could let her know.. to get tips and supplies. It's not completely neccessary, but you're going to need supplies eventually. Unless you want to bleed all over your clothes. Ew.

so here is another boy problem. Last year i really liked this guy, and he liked me too. it was love at first sight. he stared at me in math class, and flirted with me, and smiled at me. And i flirted and smiled back. But i later found out that he was moving. not just to another house in the same town, or even to a different tow around here. But all the way across the country. So it was all perfect. Until a few of my friends found out that i liked him. They all said he was ugly. So i told one of my friends i didnt like him, and that i thought he was gross. So she actually posted in her xanga about what i said. And he somehow found her xanga and read it! he still stared at me, but i knew he was pissed. At the end of the year, we all asked him who he liked and said "it doesnt matter if you tell us because you're momving" and he wouldnt say. But two of my really good friends went around all day and bugged him about it, and he said he liked some popular girl. But all day he would just keep looking at me. And asked me to sign his year book. and when i put a heart next to my name he smiled at me. and i never talked to him in the summer, i was afraid to. SOO, MY QUESTION IS. I really want to i.m him and tell him how i felt (i love him), how would i go about this? And did he really like me? (in your opinion)
