I'm unsure of how to tell her my mom about this.

Question Posted Saturday December 3 2005, 7:30 pm

Just yesterday I got my first period, and I'm unsure how to tell my mom, or if it's even neccessary. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I just don't know how to tell her this because she's not one of the cool moms that are easy to talk to, and I'm the youngest of four, at 13, and I just want a way to tell my mom.

Just go and tell mom that you started your period. She'll understand, and can probably help with any issues of problems you may have. A period is completely natural, there is nothing to be ashamed of.

The best thing to do is to let her know as soon as possible you may not know but your is probably an expert and can help you because she can explain whats going on with your body

Get a handful of Q-tips and a red marker, and color the ends of all of them red. Then hold them all in the air in your hands and run to your mom screaming "PERIOD!!!"

It's going to seem awkward to do this, but if you just go with the flow, it will turn out OK. Plus, you'll be able to look back on that day and laugh.

I said it like this, and trust me my mom isn't cool at all.
"Mom I got my period." They they started rejoicing. Even if your mom isnt easy to talk to, she will be happy, and she will find out eventually or she might take you to the doctor thinking something is wrong with you!

It's best to tell your mom. Unless you have money and transportation, she'll most likely be the one that gets your supplies for you. Also, if you have any problems with your period, she'll probably be the one you talk to about it.

Since you say you're the youngest and I'm assuming you have a sister, she's been through it before. Just sit down with her privately and tell her that you've got your period. She's a woman and has been through it herself so she'll understand. If you have an older sister, you can also ask her to tell your mom for you.

Youngest of four.. well, if you have an older sister, you could let her know.. to get tips and supplies. It's not completely neccessary, but you're going to need supplies eventually. Unless you want to bleed all over your clothes. Ew.

Hope I helped.

Your mom needs to know and she'll find out sooner or later...it is a hard thing to do though. Since you are the youngest of four do you have an older sister? Talk to your older sister about it and see what she has to say. She'll know your mom better than me and she's been through it before with your mother. Maybe she'll even tell your mom herself! If you don't have a sister you've just gotta work up the courage to walk up to your mom and say "I got my period yesterday". Quick and to the point...that way you don't make it any more awkward than it has to be. Trying to talk your way around it or into it will just make you feel really uncomfortable and miserable for longer than you have to. I hope I helped and good luck!

you need to tell her so that she can buy you stuff for it. (pads/tampons) it's no big deal, just say "mom i got my period today." and then it's done.

You just have to come out and say it, no matter how awkward or hard it may seem. Just say "Mom, I started my period yesterday. Can you take me to get pads/tampons?" No matter how hard to talk to she may be, she HAS to know. She's a mom. She'll eventually find out anyway..Let her know ASAP.

i know what you're talking about, my first one, i didnt tell my mom. Because shes one of those moms who would talk to me and make me feel embarrased. But about a week later she found out anyway. Its always better to tell your parents then to hide it. There are a few ways to tell your mom. The first is just being up front about it, go up to her and tell her. another way (although sort of cheesey) email her. Be like: Hey mom its me, i got my period, bye!. (okay not really like that but you know). That way you dont really have to talk to her when you tell her, it takes away the pressure. Another way is to have one of your older siblings tell her. have them say "i think she got her period, maybe i should go talk to her". It might be better to talk t your older sister, than your mom. I hope i helped you. I know how awkward this can be.
