Ok recently I can not figure out how to stop found new hardware install from popping up each time I power on my computer. The pop up says that it is trying to install my uninstalled philips cd drive which does not work so this guy told me to uninstall the driver so I did and that's what has been happening. Anyway it would be nice if it would just not turn up since my mom needs to use the computer as well to look up bank statements.
Go to [start -> run] (or press WinKey+R). Type this and press enter:
devmgmt.msc
Find the device that you are being asked about. It will be marked with a yellow "!". Right click it and "disable". The new hardware wizard will no longer appear for that device.
If the device doesn't work after this, you should reenable it in device manager and try to find the proper drivers online. Sometimes drivers are automatically downloaded with Windows update.

I'm 14, and I've got a fair amount of skin discolorations. Reading up a ton on things to help, I've come across a certain ingredient many times in skin whitening products--
L-glutathione.
It seems like a miracle, especially when taken as an oral supplement! Helps pimples, evens skin tone, improves overall health, helps your liver.. It just seems like a miracle.
But, is it too good to be true?
and, if I DO take it to help with my skin problems, might my skin become TOO white and look sickly since I'm already kinda pale?
My shade in (covergirl) make up is 'Natural Ivory', so that might help you get an idea of my skintone.
Personally, I think pale is pretty, even though I'm a 14 year old American girl. I don't care if someone laughs at me for not being tan--I just want to be happy with myself. I like my skin color pretty well, just not the condition of it and the pigmented spots/unhealthy look of it..
I took 50mg of glutathione daily for three months and noticed no changes in my skin. If there is any effect, it is minor or requires large doses.

Ok, I did everything but version 3.5 was still a failure (1.1 was installed though). But at the first part where I was uninstalling everything related to .Net Framework there was one program called Microsoft Visual J# .Net Redristributable Package 1.1. Was I supposed to uninstall that also? If so, it wouldn't let me. When I clicked on it the Remove button does not show up, neither does the Change button. Anyways, after the 3.5 installation failed I got a setup error log containing this:

Hey it's me with the question about the Microsoft .Net Framework updates. Sorry I haven't responded, was on a trip. Anyways I uninstalled all the .Net Frameworks and went to Windows Update. There, all there was for updating was Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86. I checked them both and both downloads were successful but the installation for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) was a failure, all I got was this pop up saying to terminate the program and I did. So only 1.1 was installed. After that I went to microsoft.com to install .Net Framework 2.0, download successful but again, installation failure. Got this pop up saying:
"Error 250115. Failed to install assembly 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.dll' because of system error: 0x80131107"
So right now all I have is .Net Framework 1.1 and that's it. On Windows Update there were no updates relating to 2.0 or 3.0, only 1.1 and 3.5.
I don't think that you completely uninstalled 3.5. Go to add/remove programs and check "include updates" at the top. Uninstall everything related to the .Net Framework. Restart your computer. Install this:

Use that to remove all .net 1.1 and 3.5 entries. Restart.
Then install 1.1 and 3.5 from Windows Update. If it fails, try it again. If it fails the second time, use this package to install 3.5:

If that fails as well, give me exact error codes. You can click on "Click here for more information" for error codes in the "This program needs to close" error.
2.0 is included in the 3.5 package and shouldn't be installed separately.

What does the bible say about homosexuality and being sent to H*ll? It just doesn't seem fair that all gays and lesbians can't go to Heaven, especially because God loves EVERYONE. Some people are just born that way and can't help it.
And what about people that are in such an isolated community, that they've never been exposed to God's word or people that don't know Christianity exists? What about them?
And in the old testament, doesn't it say crazy things like, it's okay to rape a woman as long as you marry her afterwards? And if someone hits you, you can chop off their hand, or something like that. That's just...crazy!

They won't be able to tell by looking at the CD. It's possible they might be able to tell by other means, such as a device they put in the CD case or some sort of anti-piracy program on the CD. I don't know how likely it is they would do something like that.
I would use some other CD ripper, because I don't trust iTunes. If you do that, the chances of being caught are low. I recommend Exact Audio Copy:

Why on earth can't I figure out how to make ctrl+b bold things on Firefox? I've looked everywhere online but can't find anything about how to get it to work. Is this a problem for anyone else? Anyone got a solution, by chance?
You can't. Firefox is a web browser. Web browsers allow you to view pages, not edit them.
Text boxes, such as the ones used to ask/answer questions on Advicenators, only hold raw text. No formatting is allowed. It is possible to make a text box which holds formatting, but this can only be done by the person who made the website, and it's rather difficult for them to do. Firefox only follows the instructions of the web designer.
Instead of formatting, you can use *asterisks* for emphasis and _underscores_ for underlines and strong emphasis.

I would like to build credit history and build my credit score by using a credit card to pay my bills, but how can I get a credit card when no one will aprove me because my credit history is not long enough? Prepaid cards are the best option. They work like one of those "universal gift cards", but you can refill them and they increase your credit score in the same way that credit cards do. Here's a list:

Prepaid cards are not a very good deal (lots of fees and no interest on your stored money), so get a real credit card as soon as you can.

i have a dell laptop and its broken. every time i turn it on it says "the dll file can not be found" or something like that. well i was told that the dll file is extremely important and thats why my computer isn't working at all. i found the cd that came with my laptop when i first got it. its the cd that will re-install my computer. but when i put it in it doesn't work.
what else can i do to fix my computer?
also, i can't drag files onto my flash drive. it doesn't let me. and i have so many pictures on my computer that i want to keep. how can i save the pictures? i've tried saving them onto a flash drive, didn't work. i tried copying them to a cd, that didn't work either.
There are thousands of DLL files on your computer. Missing one of them isn't always critical. If the error message mentions a specific name, like gui.dll, you can sometimes find a copy of it online. If you do, put it in the C:\windows\system32 folder. This won't always work.
If the installation disk you have is actually an installation disk and not some sort of "recovery disk" or "restore CD", you can probably fix the problem by inserting the CD and going to start, run (or press WinKey+R) and typing this:
sfc /scannow

If it's a DVD video the procedure depends on how your friend burned it. If ImgBurn works and doesn't give you an error, you can use that to make a copy. In that case you can also probably copy/paste the video out from the DVD drive in "My computer" and play them in your media player. If that doesn't work, the procedure is more complicated and you should ask me another question.
If there is only audio on the DVD, you can copy/paste them out from the DVD drive in "My Computer". ImgBurn will also work.

I don't understand SPF from a stop sign. I need help in purchasing the right sunscreen for me. I also need to know what SPF means and what number I should be getting.
I'm pretty fair skinned and I don't burn I scorch and really fast. This is dangerous for me because I can't sweat or be in the heat under hot sun for medical reasons. I'm going to be at an outdoor sporting event for three days so I need to get this right.
I want a sunscreen that either goes on clear or sprays on clear that isn't messy or goes on creamy white. It also has to have a bottle I can slide into my pocket and get past security with. I need to be able to put it under my grandstand seat.
If it matters I'm Canadian. I doubt the products from the major manufacturers are any different though. I heard Coppertone has a bottle that's blue and designed for sports and goes on clear. I want to know if it's good or crap before getting anything.
SPF is a multiplier of your natural protection from the Sun. If you would get burned after 5 minutes without any sunscreen, you will get burned after about 50 minutes with SPF 10 (5*10=50).
I use Coppertone Sport Ultra Sweatproof Continuous Spray with SPF 70+. This is what you mentioned. It works really well, and the spray helps to cover your skin completely. It's clear, and you should be able to hide it.

Hey Theymos. I got a question for you. I have this educational CD that my friend gave me that her friend burned for her, and I would like to copy it onto my computer. I have easy cd creator that I can install if I need to, I also have windows media player and iTunes. So yeah I just need it to copy onto my computer so I can always have it or burn it onto a CD when I am ready. Thank you :)
You can create an exact byte-by-byte copy with ImgBurn:

Choose "create image file from disk". Then when you're ready, use "write image file to disk" with the .iso file that ImgBurn created. You can't actually play this .iso file without burning it to a CD.

Can you lose weight without exercising, like by just watching what you eat? I was diagnosed with a spine disease 10 months ago and had to quit all physical activity including the 2 volleyball teams I played on that kept me in great shape. I cannot run, walk excessively, lift weights, or do crunches etc. Of course, I've gained a lot of weight since I can no longer exercise. Can I lose that weight with food or do I just have to suffer?
Absolutely. Exercise itself burns few calories: only 50-100 per half hour. And while muscle burns more calories at rest, this will typically only speed up your weight loss by 30% at most.
Exercise is important for avoiding a lot of medical problems, though. You should try to exercise if you can.

It will teach you the vocabulary very well, but it teaches you nothing of grammar. You will need additional instruction if you want to actually speak the language properly. Especially with Korean, which has complex grammar.

I'm trying to run an application that requires .Net Framework 3.5. So far I only have .Net Framework 1.1 and .Net Framework 1.1 Hotfix installed. I'm trying to install the later versions but it won't let me. Like when I install 2.0 download is a success but says installation failed or something and same thing goes for 3.5. I get something like system error 0x8... and some other digits. I tried going onto Windows Update but all it gives me is 3.5 too and installation was a failure also. Is there like more to 1.1 that I need before installing 2.0? Can anyone give me like a list of .Net Framework versions/packs in order for me to get up to .Net Framework 3.5?
Uninstall all .Net framework entries in add/remove programs. Restart. Install it all again through Windows Update. Everything you need should be installed through Windows Update.
If you still get the error, ask another question with the _complete_ error code.

What does it mean when someone says "The ether was changed"
What exactly is ether? I looked it up but I still don't see how it fits into that sentence.
"The ether" is the invisible medium that everything is in, or the force that surrounds and permeates everything. It is the same as saying "The fabric of the Universe". It can also refer a cloud of invisible stuff, such as radio waves.
Alone, the sentence you quoted doesn't really make sense.
