missing dll? i have a dell laptop and its broken. every time i turn it on it says "the dll file can not be found" or something like that. well i was told that the dll file is extremely important and thats why my computer isn't working at all. i found the cd that came with my laptop when i first got it. its the cd that will re-install my computer. but when i put it in it doesn't work.
what else can i do to fix my computer?
also, i can't drag files onto my flash drive. it doesn't let me. and i have so many pictures on my computer that i want to keep. how can i save the pictures? i've tried saving them onto a flash drive, didn't work. i tried copying them to a cd, that didn't work either.

There are thousands of DLL files on your computer. Missing one of them isn't always critical. If the error message mentions a specific name, like gui.dll, you can sometimes find a copy of it online. If you do, put it in the C:windowssystem32 folder. This won't always work.
If the installation disk you have is actually an installation disk and not some sort of "recovery disk" or "restore CD", you can probably fix the problem by inserting the CD and going to start, run (or press WinKey+R) and typing this:
sfc /scannow
If you have a fast connection you can backup your files online. To box.net, for example.
If your computer is actually able to boot, I might be able to fix some of its issues. Contact me:
