Losing weight Can you lose weight without exercising, like by just watching what you eat? I was diagnosed with a spine disease 10 months ago and had to quit all physical activity including the 2 volleyball teams I played on that kept me in great shape. I cannot run, walk excessively, lift weights, or do crunches etc. Of course, I've gained a lot of weight since I can no longer exercise. Can I lose that weight with food or do I just have to suffer?

Yes you can. Even though excercise makes you lose weight quicker, you can still lose it without exercise. Eat healthier by eating fruits and veggies instead of junk food. Cut down on carbs and calories per day. If you do this, you will most likely lose some weight. But make sure you eat healthy foods!
Good luck! ]
Absolutely. Exercise itself burns few calories: only 50-100 per half hour. And while muscle burns more calories at rest, this will typically only speed up your weight loss by 30% at most.
Exercise is important for avoiding a lot of medical problems, though. You should try to exercise if you can. ]
You can lose weight if you eat less than the calories your body needs in a day. Not drastically less, but less.
You won't lose like pound after pound, but it can somewhat help.
If you cut out certain foods and drinks, like unhealthy things, then you can start to lose weight.
I know my grandpa and grandma stopped drinking a glass of milk everyday for like.. two months, and they both lost ten pounds or something like that. My grandpa lost over 50 pounds just from diet alone.
So, it's possible, but exercise is always a nice complement to diet. But since you can't, that's understandable.
