just give him time, he likely wants to be your friend, but just can't do it yet. it's scary when you first get broken up with, it's awkward, and confusing, hell it's downright terrifying. but he needs time to move past that and relearn how to be just friends. give it a few more weeks, and if he's still being awkward, talk to him about it and see if there's any way for you to help.

I think that my daughter (14) has been using drugs. She hasn't had it easy and I haven't really helped that. A few of my old boyfriends hurt her and violated her. I've stopped dating because of it she doesn't deserve that and I don't want that to ever happen to her again. Recently I've been noticing that she's been coming home after 10 (her curfue is 9) and she acts differently. I've tried talking to her and she says that she isn't doing anything and that she just loses track of time. I don't know what to do. I'm not a great mother but I'm trying as hard as I can. Does anyone know how I could talk to her about this or how I can help her if she really needs it?

i think she's probably just hanging out with her friends and losing track of time, like she said, i know that i do that sometimes. if it's a habitual thing, i'd be a little more worried. i'd like to point out that a lot of the times, parties, school dances, movies, etc, don't end until later and that sometimes it is hard to get home at nine.
as for getting her to talk to you, one of the things that my mom does is pick a really complicated recipe, that takes a good chunk of time, and we make it together. it gives us a lot of time around each other and she manages to get whatever info it is that she wants out of me.
there are ways to get her tested for drugs, but i would use that as a last result, it's a major invasion of privacy and there's a good chance she wouldn't be happy about it.
and about your boyfriends that hurt her, i'd try making an appointment for her with a psychologist, that sort of stuff hits hard, and it would be an impetus for more rebelious behavior.
just keep the lines of communication open somehow, in any ways possible.

Okay, here's the deal: for my socials project, our teacher asked us to pick a section in the book and do a presentation on it. I picked a section that describes how war started in Vietnam, and how the soldiers got enlisted and about the suffering, and the nurses i.e. He does not, though, want us to take the easy way out and use a board with pictures on it to seal the project. We may use visuals, and get this - we have to be a character in that time period. So I have to be someone in the 60s. I have a few ideas - to be a nurse recalling the event with pictures [maybe powerpoint], or a reporter making a documentary about it. Does anyone have any ideas? Anything would help, and its good if you speak from experience too.

hey, i am a single parent of a one year old son, my relationship with the father of the child feel thru last year in november i was livivng with him and left to comeback home and i was unemployed at that time i left my job to move towns and live with him then after i came back home was not employed for 3months and had no form of income i asked the father to support hes child not with cash we agreed he could but the stuff he needed and send it on its own but he refused told me if i cant take care of he son i should bring him and he will do so every since i have not asked for any thing but i feel there is a need for him to support he child i am since employed but my salary can just about manage the costs, i dont know how i can get assistance form him for he has not been cooperative lately, my mother has adviced me to seek alawyer for maintenance but my dad feels there is no need for it says i should not worry about him he wiill come back one day wantin to see him but the tables would have turned. waht do i do now

There's this kid that I used to like named Nick. He is one of those kids who lives to annoy you. In Language Arts my teacher always puts us close and he rides the same bus as me (he lives 2 min away). He's backed dwn on annoying everybody else, but he still annoys me. Ok well this may sound very dumb but here it goes . . . In P.E. we're doing swimming. Today I drowned during the class they were obviously able to resusatate me. I'm embarassed to go in school on monday. The girls in my school are very catty and news spreads fast at my school. I don't remember much of it. All I remember is trying to do a back dive into the pool and all of the water being pushed out of my lungs and trying to breathe next thing I know I'm laying o the hard floor with my class mates staring over me and the lifeguard. It was horrible and terrifying. How should I deal with the girls at school? Is it true that I could get Peunomia (sp?).
