Ok well this may sound very dumb but here it goes . . . In P.E. we're doing swimming. Today I drowned during the class they were obviously able to resusatate me. I'm embarassed to go in school on monday. The girls in my school are very catty and news spreads fast at my school. I don't remember much of it. All I remember is trying to do a back dive into the pool and all of the water being pushed out of my lungs and trying to breathe next thing I know I'm laying o the hard floor with my class mates staring over me and the lifeguard. It was horrible and terrifying. How should I deal with the girls at school? Is it true that I could get Peunomia (sp?).
Thanks very much!
PerkyPeacock answered Saturday February 26 2005, 12:14 am: go to the school counselor, tell her that you were kind of traumatized and that you don't want to go back to that class because you're afraid. see if she'll let you transfer out.
i'm sorry you had to go through that. but honestly, it's nothing to be embarassed about. if i were any of the people in your class i'd just be really glad that you're ok [ PerkyPeacock's advice column | Ask PerkyPeacock A Question ]
icey0990 answered Friday February 25 2005, 11:47 pm: To deal with these girls..the key is to not let them get to you. If they see yuor getting upset/embaraased they will be happy and keep doing it. If you walk the halls with confidence and attitude (meaning if they make fun of you ..you snap back saying something like "dont you have anything better to talk about" or.."if you think its funny theres something wrong with you". In school..people talk and you cant stop em. You could hold your head up high. Most ppl will ask if your ok. All the convo will be gone in a few days so dont worry. At least it isnt worse..like getting ur period and everyone seeing..or something horrible like that. I think your more likely to get pnemonia if it were cold water at like a waterfall. cherylpravetz answered Friday February 25 2005, 9:15 pm: Well, last year I passed out in science class. I don't remeber actually fainting, but I do remeber waking up and seeing the whole class staring down at me, *EMBARASSING!* but I just went along with my life as normal. And sure, people talked about it a lot for aboiut a week, but no on eremembers anymmore. They really will forget about it soon enough, and if they don't they have too much free time.
MiZzAdViCe16 answered Friday February 25 2005, 9:08 pm: i dont kno if you can get Peunomia but the best way to deal with the catty girls is to laugh it off i know drowning isnt a funny thing but its the only way to deal
TiCkLeD_pInK540 answered Friday February 25 2005, 8:36 pm: To deal with the catty girls at your school, just be very confident in yourself. If they make a comment to you about it, just say "You have the emotional rage of a teaspoon. I'm not afraid to tell it to your face because you have a two second rebound rate and you're back to doing the next catty thing. You're the most unfortunate person i think i've ever meet and i pity you only because i feel sorry that you have to live through someone else for you to be happy. You're so pathetic. At least inhaling water isn't as bad as inhaling the amount of hairspray you suck in every morning." not exactly those words, but just shove it right back in their face! Continue through out your day and just try to surround yourself with friends and try to stay close to a teacher that might be watching, they'll have a harder time confronting you if you're not alone. and about the peumonia thing, it could be possible, but i wouldn't know. you might want to ask your school nurse or family phsyician for more information about that. Good Luck! i hope it all goes well for you!
Always,

AskMuni answered Friday February 25 2005, 8:21 pm: That doesn't sound dumb at all-things like this happen to everyone- you need some lows to be able to appreciate your highs. Don't be embarrased to go to school-if anyone says anything negative to you just laugh it off- show them that you're strong and that words don't get to you. Everything happens for a reason- the fact that you survived means that you have a purpose in life- it wasn't just luck and i truly believe that. Bad experiences are what shape our characters-you are a stronger person now. Forget about the girls at school-they have self-esteem issues and only put other people down so that they can feel better about their own pathetic lives.
Pneumonia is when your lungs fill up with water- I doubt that you have it-but if your are really concerned, have your parents take you to the doctors for an x-ray- better safe than sorry.
ImHere4u answered Friday February 25 2005, 8:21 pm: Well, it is true but I think you'll be fine. I'd suggest getting your parents to go see a doctor just incase. Don't worry about the girls in school though. Something that serious isn't anything to laugh about. If they have something to say, just ignore it and eventually it'll die off. Atleast your okay. That's all that metters. I'm sure somone who saw it though will stick up for you saying it wasn't funny and they'll realize it WAS seirous. That's wat you would do rite?
Karen answered Friday February 25 2005, 8:14 pm: You need to ignore these girls because if they joke about, tell them that you almost died and it's not your fault that this happened to you and that it could happen to anyone. Ask them what they would say to you if you were them and if they were you. It's not true that you can get Pneumonia so don't worry about that.

babygrl101 answered Friday February 25 2005, 8:06 pm: It's not your fault you drowned. It was an accident and people run they mouth too much. Especially girls. Don't be embarrassed. Some people drowned before. I have and so has my cousin. Except she died, but I came out okay and so did you. And that's the important thing.
