My stupid (now ex) boyfriend just broke up with me and I want to get over him! I thought maybe some good music could help me out of this funk that he caused me to be in from the break up.

Any good break up songs? Preferably for teens.

http://www.fiql.com/playlists/break_up_songs_for_teens_of_today/

There's a long list there, and they look pretty good.

Here's another list:

"I'd Hate To Be You When People Find Out What This Song's About" by Mayday Parade
"Champagne's for Celebrating (I'll Have A Martini)" by Mayday Parade
the potential breakup song by Aly and Aj
"The Break Up Song" by American Hi-Fi
7 things by Miley Cyrus
Together by Avril Lavigne.
i hate everything about you by 3 days grace

I've been talking to this girl for over a year now. I'm 29 and she is 19 and we talk for hours! We talked for 11 hours straight Saturday even. We haven't talked on the phone or anything like that yet though. She lives in Canada and I live in the states. I suggested that we could call each other but she can't because she is afraid of what her parents would think of me because her mom pays her cell phone bill and she looks at who she calls. We have talked about meeting some time but I told her that I'm not in too big of a hurry because she is definately worth the wait. She is afraid that her family won't give me a chance because of one she met me off the internet and two of my age being so much different than hers.

So do you think it's okay to ask her, possibly, to get a webcam and a microphone so we can talk for some different form of communication?
Another question is, well, I want to do something special for her but I don't want to send her something and she would have to explain where it came from. I know this sounds silly but we love each other we have been there for each other in the past year. :\

Honestly, I think the age difference is very large in this situation.

She is still living with her parents, so she needs to obey her parents' rules. If she thinks her parents wouldn't be OK with the age difference, you really need to respect that.

Honestly, you might be pushing trying to "do something special for her", so maybe just.. write her a nice email or write her a short story?

I think the webcam is a little too much.

i'm going to be a senior next year and i have absolutely no idea what career i want to pursue. i don't want an office job and i hate just sitting down, i like to be moving and doing things but then again i'd like to be able to sit sometimes to take a rest. i was thinking of something with a bachelor's degree and possibly in the dental field but i'm not sure. can anyone give me some ideas you'll think i'll be interested in? like absolutely anything. thank youu.

Dental sounds good.
Or anything in the medical field. You are on your feet a lot, but you do eventually get breaks.
What about being a lawyer?
An artist?
A scientist? Like research?
A psychologist?
What about a teacher?

So the majors might be:

Pre-Dental
Pre-Med
Pre-Law
Art [haha?]
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Psychology
Education [Elementary/Secondary]

Hey, I'm Hayley, and my boyfriend is 19. I was just wondering if there was any laws against the age of dating? I know they're laws against sex, but we haven't had sex and he hasn't forced me to do anything sexual at all. As a matter of fact, I don't even want to have sex until I'm married and ready.

I'm actually 13, and I've been called a whore for dating him. The names won't change how I feel about him, but some people just don't know how to shut up. Is our relationship, illegal? Can he be charged? Should we break up so he doesn't get in trouble?

I agree with Razhie.

It may not be illegal to date in some states, but lawyers can twist even dating to mean you're having sex.

Your best bet is to just either wait to date him until you are older.. or just move on. In fairness, he IS kind of old for you.

I mean, it certainly isn't my right to date, but from a legal stand, you should probably stick to someone closer to your age.

Is it okay to kiss my g/f on her forehead while we hug? Would she find that weird or ok? I love her a lot and want to show more affection for her. I don't want to make her uncomfortable or unhappy though. What are your thoughts on a guy kissing his girlfriend on the forehead?

Go for it, dude.

I bought a penis shaped pasta for my boyfriend to cook for him when he comes back from vacation. I told my guy friend about it and he said that my boyfriend wouldn't eat it. Would he eat it or would he freak out?

Is this for real?

Why would your boyfriend want to eat this?

Just make him regular pasta.

i'm seventeen/female.
i need closure from a guy that i have been talking to for almost two years now, yes i like im a lot but i just don't see this going anywhere because it hasnt so far. he is holding me back from other guys.

We can't read his mind, and we don't know how he feels.

Talk to him. Have an actual CONVERSATION with him about this. If you talk it out, you might find that he likes you too or he feels the same way you do right now.

You never know until you talk with him.

So do it.

Is Edward going to leave Bella forever in Twilight New Moon? :\

If you read the book, you'll find out.

But, spoiler alert to anyone who hasn't read the book yet:

Edward comes back for her, or else there wouldn't be two more books in the series.

I'm 17 years old currently going into my Senior year in High School. I come from a low income family and I was thinking of joining the army for college scholarships. I love math and science, especially chemistry. I'm scared for student loans and was planning on going on the path to becoming a doctor because I love helping people, but the cost of medical school is too costly. I don't like English much, but reading is fun when it has to do with learning anything I'm focused on. I'm really considering the Air Force or Army at this point due to our economic crisis right now. Please any tips or sources of scholarships will help. Thank you all.

PS: My classes next year will be English 4, Economy/Government, Calculus AB, Physics, French 3, and probably ROTC.

I usually maintain the 3.4-4.0 GPA.

Keep up your grades! They are pretty good right now. If you manage to get an 4.0 in each class, your GPA will stay close to that.

Take the AP Calc AB exam in May 2010, because that's college credit right there if you do well enough.

As for going into the Army, sure you'd get good scholarships, but if you want to be a doctor, Medical school takes many years, so you'd be in your mid-late thirties when you're finished. My suggestion is this: apply for EVERY scholarship you're eligible for.

Go to these websites:
www.fastweb.com
www.scholarships.com

And they will send you scholarships that apply to you. You could probably get your first year of undergraduate school payed for with scholarships.

But, of course, it is YOUR decision, and your decision ONLY, what you want to do about the money situation.

Maybe you could apply for FAFSA:

http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

That's government aid for college. And if your family really needs it, you might get some money.

Best wishes to you!

P.S. I love Chemistry, too! =]

I am just wondering if it is possible for someone to have contracted HIV or AIDS and for them not to know they have it at all?

I mean would you know if you have AIDS or HIV? And when would you know that you had it? How would you know? What would the symptoms be like?

Thank you!

It's quite possible for someone to not know they have it. But realistically, someone should get tested every 6 months if they are sexually active, using a condom or not.

HIV/AIDS basically attacks your immune system, so my best bet would be the symptoms would be just feeling sick in general.

But, I don't know of any way to know FOR SURE it's AIDS, because you could get a common cold and die if you have AIDS- and you wouldn't know it was AIDS.

Go to the doctor to get tested if you are unsure.

I have a dell XPS. I used the webcam on the computer to make a few videos to put on youtube but I cant get them on? So how do I do that. I know how to upload to youtube but not from the webcam.

Have you tried saving the videos to your computer?

If you haven't- try that, and then make sure you save them where you can find them to upload them on YouTube.

Make sure the format is correct, too, because if I'm not mistaken, YouTube only allows certain video file types.

If you need to convert your video, go to zamzar.com and it does it for you. Convert it to mp4.

I know my webcam program lets me record a video and it goes directly on YouTube, though I haven't done that yet.

I'm in the middle of a debate over what the most famous Broadway musical is. I keep saying that it is Phantom of the Opera, but my cousin keeps saying that it is Les Miserables. I know that Wicked and Cats are really popular as well, and so is Grease (Or is that even on Broadway?).
Any and all help is appreciated on the answer to this question.

The Phantom of the Opera is probably the most famous since it's the longest-running Broadway show, and then comes CATS and then Les Mis, if I'm correct.

Personally, I've never seen Les Mis, but I've seen Phantom of the Opera and I've been in CATS.

My argument would be for The Phantom of the Opera, though CATS, Les Mis, and Wicked are all REALLY close.

Oh my goodness. Somebody please help me. I haven't slept all night because the guilt is killing me!

Okay, so yesterday I went to hang out with my cousin his girlfriend and a friend.

We all went back to my cousin's house and hung out there. Then my friend and I went downstairs to the living area to play the piano a bit.

I pressed on the 1st and left pedal, and since no one ever uses it (grand piano, long and elegant by the way), and i felt the piano move to the side a bit, but i didnt see or hear anything else. neither did my friend.

THEN as we were leaving and i was closing the lid... i saw a long crack on the top, whats itcalled, a cabinet? desktop? not sure
but above the lid.

and it was not there before!

they live in a very nice home and the piano must have cost them thousands.

my aunt and uncle are out of town, and we didnt tell my cousin either, i mean we're not sure that we did it, but im almost positive i did, i dont know i just hadnt noticed the crack...

can it be fixed? the top part (furniture part) replaced? what can i do? i bet its expensive damage.

please help me! im desperate! the guilt the guilt!

sincerely,
heirdusoleil

Hmm, well, I have no idea what can be replaced, but I can tell you that you should probably just confess to your aunt/uncle that you think you may have broken it.

This way, they will probably be less mad in the long run, and any "punishment" they give will be less severe than if you are "caught".

What are some non-alcoholic drinks that you can serve in a teenage party and how do you make them? My friend suggested that I make non-alcoholic pina coladas but I don't know how to so, please, if you can make good suggestions and they need to be made, detail how I can make them!

Non-alcoholic Strawberry Daiquiris!

You could just do pop, too. XD

I don't mean to brag or anything but I think I'm wonderful when it comes to giving free advice.
People will follow my advice and get great results each and every time it seems. I give great free advice to my friends and family, but I have always wanted to start my own advice column ever since I was, like, ten years old. I decided to make a free advice column on Advicenators here but how do I get people to ask me questions? I'm totally awesome but I rarely get questions in my inbox. Is there a way I can promote myself or should I just keep answering questions and waiting for people to catch on to my good advice?

I had another idea too...should I link my Advicenator column on other sites I go to (Livejournal, Myspace, Facebook, etc.) to get people to come visit my advice column or is that too cheesy?

That's the idea. I really didn't start getting inbox questions until I started answering at least ten questions a day.

And don't answer all in the same category; stretch your advice-giving to things you maybe know a lot about but just haven't given advice on before. You have to start somewhere.

There's no advertising on this site, and I'm really glad that you didn't put your column name in your question =]. However, you can advertise ALL you want on Facebook, MySpace, LiveJournal, Wordpress, Twitter, or WHATEVER. By all means! I have my advice column linked from all of those, and it seems to help.

Another thing I found really works is going to your Settings page and allowing questions from unregistered users. You will probably never hear from them again to know if the advice worked, but maybe it will help you get more inbox questions, because some people just come on this site to ask a question, and they don't want to sign up to give advice in the process.

Tell your friends. Maybe tell your school counselor and ask if he/she can advertise your column for you? And maybe Advicenators in general?

How do you get other teens involved with and committed to service projects? It seems that the majority of teens today can't be bothered or are simply too busy to apply themselves to any cause that isn't within their scope of interests--and most often service and volunteer work comes last on their list of priorities that include socialization, gaming, and/or studying.

Getting teens to spread the word and bring friends to help volunteer helps somewhat, but even then, this strategy doesn't yield great results. Help?

Are you a parent looking to motivate your teens?
Well, maybe offer some incentive. Like, if you all go volunteer with me for [whatever the job is], for [however long], then we'll go out for dinner, or do something else you like.

If you're a teen looking to motivate your friends, you could use the same principle. Like, "Hey guys! Let's go volunteer for this, and then maybe we can go to a movie or something after!"

I don't know, you can't really force someone to do volunteer work. I mean, me personally, I LOVE to volunteer, and I'm always doing it, but others are really self-centered and only worried about TV, the internet, or whatever.

Maybe tell people that volunteer work looks AMAZING on college applications and scholarship applications. If that doesn't motivate them, or if food/movies don't motivate them, not much will.

I have purchased the prescription Chantix and am now on my way to a smoke-free life. I have been noticing some things that make me (my body) feel different after not smoking for a few days. For example, I feel like I have A LOT more energy...is this from quitting? Will I notice more things like this as I continue this journey? Or was this just nervous energy and all of this is this just in my head?

I would say the fact that you have more energy means that SOMETHING is going right.

Keep it up, and I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers so that maybe you can continue to live smoke-free! =]
