Long story short, I'm from Los Angeles, went to an amazing school, left the US and moved to the Middle East. I've been backpacking around Europe and the Middle East on and off since August 2013.

Quite frankly, I'm sarcastic way more than I should be. Read a few of my answers, and you'll see that I am not totally mean to anyone.

I need to know what astigmatism is, and i tried looking it up on google but they all have these confusing explanations and i just want to know...?
-what is it?
-is it harmful?
-can it be fixed?

It has to do with your eye being shaped differently.

It's harmful if not treated just because it impacts your vision.

I don't think that it can be permanently fixed.

So, I was invited to a birthday party last Monday that was set to happen Saturday. I told the girl at school, Gina, that I would be there. I know Gina through Key Club. She's a sophomore, I'm a junior, and I don't really consider us friends and I only see her at club meetings. Anyway, when I woke up Saturday morning I had a pretty bad sore throat and I didn't really feel up to going to her party, so I called about three or four hours before and told her. It probably sounded totally bogus, but it was true that I was and still am sick.

Today at school, three days after her party, she came up to me with her friend while I was walking with mine. I thought she was going to ask if I was feeling better but instead she said, "Hey, do you have my gift? Cause my birthday is tomorrow." I just said, "Not with me" because I was in shock that she would ask for a gift from someone she wasn't really friends with and someone that was unable to go to her party.

Does anyone else find this rude and insulting? What should I do the next time I see her? My plan is just to say my mom donated it after I couldn't attend the party: will that work?

It's obvious why she invited you to her party.

People came to my sweet 16 without bringing gifts, but i had so much fun with them there that it was okay. I had invited them because I love them and they're my friends, not because I wanted something material from them.

If you don't care too much about this relationship, I'd be honest with her. Tell her that you don't understand why she expects a gift from you and tell her that you feel used.

If you do care, then yeah, say you made a donation in her name or something.

Can ceramic clay get soft again, after you already put it in the kiln? like if you got it hot again, could it get soft again? or once you put it in the kiln is it gonna stay that way even if you re heat it?

Conceited as it may be, I am one of the most popular people at my school.

Argue all you want, but putting yourself out there is the ONLY way to become popular. After all, how would you expect people to know and like you if they don't even know you?

I'm popular because I'm too nice and I care too much about everybody. I make sure that people think that about me by not being rude to people and being open-minded.

where can i get Bumble & Bumble surf spray? is it only sold in salons?

I believe ULTA sells it as well, but it is pretty much exclusive to salons, at least from what I've seen.

You need a visa. You will have to get what we call a "green card" which is a card that allows you to live and work here, so long as you pay taxes.

You cannot vote in our elections or run for president. I think there are more restrictions than that.

So for precal, we have a project where we make a tshirt with a graph on the front. This graph can have any of the following on it, with their equations (ellipse, parabola, circle, hyperbola). I don't have a problem with that, but we also have the option to create a seperate picture from the shapes. I was really leaning towards this, but have no idea what picture I could make out of these shapes.

I shoot film.

Not by choice; because I have to.

I think I paid around $200 for just the camera and basic lens.

I know how to use the camera and take pictures, so yes, I get good quality pictures.

The camera is not going to help you much with light issues or blur. Especially blur, since that's caused by you moving.

So long as you shoot automatic, you should be fine. And, of course, provided you have good lighting.

Like I said before, a camera will not make you a good photographer; it will just enhance your photography.

Film or digital?

Either way, a Canon Rebel will be a good camera to start out with. That's what I use, and I love it.

Keep in mind that a camera will only enhance and capture a picture that you provide.

Is it possible to be able to surf AND snowboard somewhere in northern California without having to travel a long distance to do either? Or anywhere else in the US I guess.

California is the place to do it, though I'd come south.

There's Big Bear and then the coastline.

Is that a good college for me if i want to be an astronomer? I'm 14 in 8th grade now but i've never thought about which college i'd wanna go to. if not, where are other really good schools where i could study to be one? and are their sports teams good? like for women's volleyball, soccer, and basketball.

I do know that Brown is a prestigious school, though.

You might want a research-based university, like the University of California, for example.

this is going to sound pretty lame but
theres this guy i like.
well its more than a like
i have extreme feelings for him.
no physical attraction whatsoever.
i like him for his personality and who he is on the inside.
now this guy likes me back,
just as much as i like him.
but ive been waiting for about 5 months now for him to ask me out.
as i grew tired of waiting for him,
my friend told me about this other guy that liked me.
now when she first told me about him
i didnt care much
i didnt even know he existed
but i talked to him on myspace for about 4 days
and unfortunately,
i developed some feelings for him
i finally met him at school
and he kissed me.
i had no idea that was coming.
we walked around school holding hands that day.
and my other love interest saw me.
i saw him later on in class
and he asked me if i was with that guy and i told him no.
so the next day i made out with the other guy.
we were holding hands again and once again my other friend saw me.
he was really mad at me.
the other guy aked me to get with him and i said yes,
fully knowing that this was a horrible decision
since then my friend has not talked to me or even looked in my direction
i just wish i could go back in time and change it all but i cant.

so what i want to know is that should i stay with my boyfriend,
knowing perfectly well that i have lost a good friend and that the relationship will only last a few weeks,

or should i break up with him and ask my friend for forgiveness
and possibly create a wonderful loving relationship
that is of actual substance?

So I have this friend who I was really good friends with about 2/3 years ago, but about 2 years ago we kinda drifted apart, mainly cos we kinda realised we didnt have that much in common.

But now he has broken up with his GF he has started to call me all the time and asking to borrow my car! I lied last time and said it was broken and in the garage but what shall i do if he keeps asking me this? 2) What kind of jobs can one get whose salary goes beyond the minimum wage (lifeguarding, etc)? Only jobs with training or can entry-level newbies do anything?

3) What kind of jobs are open to 16+ college bound persons?

4) It would probably be better to get a job I would have a greater chance of landing a job if it were "full time"? So that means working over the summer as opposed to weekends during the school year, right? How many work hours would that average per week approximately?

5) How does the process work? I go in, ask for an application, fill it out, hand it back and wait for them to call and schedule an interview? If all job processes are different, what is the general process usually?

6) Any other tips.

1) It depends on where you live.

2) That also depends. Retail, Starbucks, food service that has tips (sit-down restaurants, Jamba Juice, camp counseling, etc. generally go beyond minimum wage.

3) Lots, but it doesn't really matter that you're college-bound. All of the above are places that either my friends or I work (or have worked).

4) Actually that's not true at all. Many employers want part time people so that they don't have to pay benefits. Full time is 40 hours/week.

5) It depends on the place. Many applications are online now, and not all places do interviews.

Please don't ask so many questions all in one. It makes it harder for people to answer and help you.

I'm 15 years old and I live in Florida. I want to be emancipated when I turn 16, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do so. My father abandoned me a good 8 months ago, and I don't live with my mother because she has a drinking problem and cannot take care of me. Right now I live with my grandmother, and I take care of her more than she takes care of me, because she has cancer. My 27 year old brother also lives with us, and has an anger issue. I cannot stand living here with him because whenever something doesn't go his way he yells and screams and throws things. I have issues with depression due to my parents, and also suffer from bulimia, and he makes it worse. My aunt comes here during the day to make sure everything is okay, but even then it doesn't feel right. I feel too much tension living here and I think it's time I leave. I'm just scared because I need parental consent to get emancipated, and since I don't live with my parents, I don't know what to do. My aunt or grandmother would never, EVER sign the petition, but I desperately need to leave.

Will the court make an exception?

Courts won't sign it unless you can COMPLETELY support yourself financially. This means you'll need to make like $3,000 or so a month.

Courts also generally don't make "exceptions."

Oh, and I wouldn't play up the eating disorder thing. You also have to be stable. They have to kind of trust you a little.

Generally, the people in the Apple store are rather nice people, and thus are willing to help you. The only reason that they wouldn't is if they're jammed.

But they DO have a reputation to keep up, and they've always helped me. I can only think of one time when they asked if I could come back during the week (I was there on a Friday evening.)

whats yiddish and hebrew? like, the difference

Hebrew is NOT exactly the "Jewish language." It is the national language of Israel, and also the language in which the Torah is written in, but since all Jewish people are not Israeli and the Torah has been translated, Hebrew is not necessary to know to be Jewish.

Many Jewish people come from Slavic countries (Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, etc) and from Germany. Yiddish is a mix of Hebrew and all of these languages.

I'd say that more non-Jews know Yiddish. For example, "Oy vey," and "Ay gevalt" are both Yiddish phrases.

"Zeis keppe" means sweet head (literally), and that looks like German, does it not?

Yiddish, also, is not necessary to know to be Jewish.

I dont understand the difference between a major and a minor in college terms!! help??

A minor is two-thirds the work of a major.

What you major in is what you get your college degree in.

People do minors to show that they have some expertise in a subject and also just to learn.
