difference between major/minor in college

I dont understand the difference between a major and a minor in college terms!! help??

A minor is two-thirds the work of a major.

What you major in is what you get your college degree in.

People do minors to show that they have some expertise in a subject and also just to learn.

A major is worth more... ie if you want to go into a certain field you would probably major in it.

As well, majoring in a subject requires more credits than minoring in that same subject. The amount of credits needed to major or minor in a certain field usually vary depending on the subject.
